Serious Sam Collection gets Mental in Europe July 12
A new Serious Sam bundle will make its debut on Xbox 360 next month, July 12. Included within the Serious Sam Collection are Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter and Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, HD remakes of the first two original Serious Sam games, plus sequel Serious Sam 3: BFE and its "Jewel of the Nile" DLC. Rounding out the collection is Mommy's Best Games' side-scroller, Serious Sam Double D XXL. This specific announcement applies to Europe where The Mastertronic Group, with blessings from developer Croteam and publisher Devolver Digital, will offer the Serious Sam Collection. We've inquired about a North American release and will update this post when we hear back.
'Legend of the Beast' DLC coming to ... Serious Sam HD: Second Encounter?
Like one of those headless-yet-somehow-screaming dudes popping out of nowhere, Croteam has managed to surprise us with a DLC announcement today. Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter will receive the Legend of the Beast DLC pack on May 15, extending the campaign and multiplayer experiences. The Legend of the Beast costs $4.99 and adds three new campaign missions, along with three new maps each for Brutal Survivor mode and Chaotic Versus mode. And again (weirdly), this is DLC for Serious Sam's second HD game, not the most recent Serious Sam 3.In addition to the DLC, all Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter's multiplayer modes – which include both co-operative and competitive-based modes – will be free for all through Steam on May 15. All you have to do is download the free, standalone multiplayer on or after May 15 and you're good to go.%Gallery-154890%
Serious Sam titles are 75 percent off this weekend on Steam
It seems like every other week Serious Sam is on sale on Steam, and this weekend is no different. Report: Serious Sam HD: Gold Edition shoots up Steam on Thursday
Fan site Seriously! supposedly got the scoop from Devolver Digital, publisher of HD remakes Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter and Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, about Serious Sam HD: Gold Edition -- a bundle which includes both remakes, as well as both original games. That can't be good for the original games' self-esteem, being bundled with sleeker, more attractive-looking versions. Have you no heart, Devolver Digital? According to Seriously!, Steam users will be able to download Gold Edition on Thursday for $39.99s. We've followed up with Devolver Digital for confirmation and will let you know what we hear back.
Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter shoots up XBLA on Sept. 22
Finally, fans left hanging at the conclusion of Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter can get a bit of closure on September 22, as Majesco has confirmed the launch date for Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter. If there's anything that these games are known for, it's their rich narrative and character development, so to leave us hanging like that is criminal. All jokes aside, we could all probably use a bit more of "shoot everybody and don't die" in our lives. Keeps you feeling young, you know? Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter adds three new weapons -- the Sniper Rifle, Flamethrower and Chainsaw -- and co-op support for up to four players across 12 maps, including team-based and competitive modes. No matter how you feel about Serious Sam's brand of first-person mayhem, you've got to admit the marketing behind the HD remakes has been brilliant -- and this latest video for Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is no different. It's the second promo to feature the "House of Sam," a place where folks can worship His divine shotgun; where those afflicted with Krundle Blindness -- an inability to see things in high-def -- can be be cured. Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter multiplayer trailer is not epilepsy-friendly

Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter confirmed for XBLA, up for pre-order on Steam
While the title has been on the radar since November, Majesco has now confirmed that Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is headed to Xbox Live Arcade in addition to the PC. Previously relegated to the more nebulous "home console," the HD remake is officially coming to XBLA with some new features in toe. There is no release date mentioned, though the Steam version is currently listed for April 28. The game includes a new deathmatch mode along with co-op, capture the flag and survival modes. It also includes lots and lots of enemies. For those interested in the PC version, Steam is currently offering pre-purchases on the game for $17.99, two bucks off the normal $19.99 price. Serious Sam HD: Second Encounter pushed to April
Our beloved sister site, Big Download, reports that Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter has been slightly delayed to April -- and, frankly, if you can't trust your own sister, who can you trust? (That's on PC, mind you. No word on the 360 port's timing.) BD was also told that a deathmatch and dedicated servers update for the first game would arrive soon and that The Second Encounter would ship with both of those features. We're happy for the tidbits, but we can't figure out why Devolver Digital would give all that cool, manly news to our dumb little sister. She still plays with My Little Ponies and Polly Pocket. What does she know about a game where dudes have bombs for hands?
Serious Sam: The Second Encounter getting HD treatment
Hot on the heels of the recently released Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, Croteam and Devolver Digital have announced that Serious Sam: The Second Encounter will also receive the HD treatment. The serious sequel is slated to arrive on PC and "home console" in early 2010 and, like The First Encounter, it will receive a graphical overhaul to make all the carnage ever so smooth. In addition to the resolution upgrade, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter will feature a new co-op tournament mode that will "allow teams to compete with one another." Shocking, we know. In a somewhat stranger turn of events, The Second Encounter will be featured at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, where teams will compete for the Digital Youth Award. The award espouses "the values of creativity, culture, friendship, education and unity" -- none of which we associate with Serious Sam.
