Guitar Hero: World Tour is going to be a big game. Not only because of all of the features included in the title, but also because it's making some of the most legendary of rockers come out of the woodwork to remaster their songs for the game. MC5's Wayne Kramer is one of these figures, as he went into the studio to re-record his band's hit song "Kick Out the Jams" just for this game. Along with Wayne, friends Jerry Cantrell of Alice and Chains and Gilby Clark formerly of Guns 'N' Roses joined in on the track. Also, it turns out that when The Sex Pistols re-recorded a track for Guitar Hero 3, they also did another track, "Pretty Vacant," which will be featured in the upcoming game. As if that wasn't enough, Motorhead also hit the studio and redid their song "Overkill."On top of that, four new tracks were also confirmed for the game, albeit from more modern artists. These tracks are none other than: The Living End -- "Prisoner of Society" Los Lobos -- "La Bamba" Bullet for My Valentine -- "Scream Aim Fire" Lacuna Coil -- "Our Truth" To check out the videos for these four songs, head past the break.%Gallery-23491%

Fret no more, for there is new reason to hold onto thy fret! Activision has announced that five new downloadable track packs for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock will be made available in the month of June. The first pack, a trio of songs from British band Motörhead, is already available on the Xbox Live Marketplace, and should follow on the PlayStation Network later today. The only other release announced thus far is the Isle of Wight pack. The Isle of Wight is not, you'll note, a band, but a music festival held in 2007. Three of its "most memorable performances" have been converted into colorful note charts, with Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs and The Sex Pistols providing the music. So, in summary:Motörhead Track Pack (5 June / 500 MS Points / $6.25) "(We Are) The Road Crew" "Stay Clean" "Motörhead" Isle of Wight Track Pack (12 June / Price unconfirmed, but likely to be same as above) "Shoot the Runner" by Kasabian "I Predict a Riot" by Kaiser Chiefs "Problems" by The Sex Pistols

  • Johnny Rotten loves GHIII for the wrong reasons

They call him Johnny Rotten for a reason folks, and it's not because he's all sweet and cuddly. Far from it actually, as he recently took the opportunity to bite the hand that feeds him at a UK Guitar Hero III launch event ... in a manner of speaking. During the event, Rotten went on record saying that he received the offer to be featured in Guitar Hero III, took it home and played it, and "loved" it. The intriguing part is why he loved it: "it weren't teaching you how to be a rock star, it was teaching you how not to be a rock star." He elaborated that the game taught gamers, "how not to be an asshole in your life, and how not to seek fame and fortune, because the whole f*cking thing's a joke." He then expressed his disappointment that Virgin records was unable to recover the Sex Pistols' master recordings, requiring the group to spend their advance payment to re-record the tracks. Rotten spent the rest of the event rambling back and forth about England, soccer, politics, and even his theological beliefs. It really was a bizarre moment in gaming history, one that the UK Official Xbox Magazine blessedly caught on video (taking care to censor Rotten's rotten language while they were at it). Watch the whole thing if you so desire (warning: it's long). If nothing else, you can amuse yourself with the swear counter placed at the bottom by the cheeky folks at OXM.[Via Xboxic. • Sex Pistols reunite to record Guitar Hero 3 track

var digg_url = 'http://www.digg.com/gaming_news/Sex_Pistols_Reunite_to_Record_Guitar_Hero_3_Track'; Activision is really doing their best to make us care about Guitar Hero III. Within the context of Wii Fanboy, they're beating out Rock Band at the moment strictly on the fact that Guitar Hero III is actually, for real, coming out on the Wii. But stuff like this, that is actually interesting content in the game, doesn't hurt.First they had Living Colour rerecord the awesome "Cult of Personality", and now the Sex Pistols have reunited (again) to record "Anarchy in the U.K." for the game. In both cases, this was done because the master recordings for the songs could not be found. Activision certainly seems to be wielding more clout than we realized they had. The Sex Pistols recently rerecorded "Pretty Vacant" for EA's skate, proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that they will do things they've done before, again, for more money, twice. And why not?"Anarchy in the U.K." should be the easiest song in the game, because it doesn't matter if you hit the right notes or keep any kind of rhythm.
