Super Street Fighter II HD Remix, according to associate product manager John Diamonon, has sold in excess of 250,000 copies and is "on its way to becoming the highest grossing digital title ever." Diamonon states that the game has already broken both day one and week one records -- the game debuted November 25 and 26 on PSN and XBLA, respectively -- and he adds that the game is likely to best the 30 day record as well. Diamonon proceeds to thank everyone involved, stating that the game was "a labor of love for everyone involved" and then thanks the fans themselves for keeping the title "relevant" for well over a decade. There's a lesson here, kids. Nostalgia sells, but high definition nostalgia really sells.

Joystiq has posted their impressions of the Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix beta. You may have heard that the beta has some rather serious issues, and Josytiq's experience has been no different (for what it's worth, we haven't experienced any problems just playing 1-on-1 quick matches). That said, once the game actually does work, it's a lot of fun. Make no mistake, this is just Super Street Fighter II with a new coat of pixels, but there isn't really anything wrong with that. One thing that needs to be made clear is that the game plays much better than Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, the iteration of the series that's already availble on XBLA. The lag found in Hyper Fighting seems to have been alleviated this time around (so far, we've only experienced lag one time). We just hope you have a better control option than the standard 360 controller.Head over to Joystiq for their full impressions of the beta.

Capcom has released another batch of images from the upcoming SFII HD remake and this time they're featuring hair-enthusiast Guile. Like the other images these ones look absolutely fantastic; it's really going to be incredible to see them in motion and with the backgrounds. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix (also known as SSFIITHDR) will be available later this year for download from the PlayStation store. Until then, check out the gallery below!%Gallery-4073%
