GeForce Experience update brings Twitch game streaming
NVIDIA's GeForce Experience may not be tremendously popular with PC gamers, but it's about to get more traction now that its Twitch streaming is finally available in beta. An updated app lets any player with a Kepler-based GeForce card both livestream their sessions and record clips through ShadowPlay. If you're worried about missing special moments, there's a PlayStation 4-like Shadow Mode to automatically capture the last 20 minutes of game time; performance shouldn't be an issue, since dedicated hardware handles all the video encoding. NVIDIA can't promise that everything will be smooth in the beta, but it's already planning to add both a desktop capture mode and new microphone controls. BlizzCon 2013: NVIDIA shows off ShadowPlay and G-Sync
While at BlizzCon, we took the time to check out the latest offerings from video card giant NVIDIA. And while a high-end graphics card can certainly improve the look and the framerate of WoW and other games, we were intrigued by a couple of new features NVIDIA was showing off: G-Sync and ShadowPlay. G-Sync is a new way for your monitor and your video card to talk to one another -- and though they aren't on store shelves just yet, you can expect monitors from brands like Asus and Phillips to have G-Sync built-in by early 2014. What's so important that it would be worth buying a new monitor for? G-Sync addresses framrerate differences between your monitor -- which refreshes at a fixed rate -- and your video card -- which doesn't. When your video card tries to send data to your monitor more quickly -- or more slowly -- than your monitor wants, you'll see graphical stuttering or tearing. Monitors with G-Sync work with your graphics card to keep things in, well, sync for a perfect graphical experience -- whether you're running at ideal 60FPS or dropping down to 20FPS in a crowded auction house.
Nerdstomper Blue win MLG Raleigh
The latest WoW champions in the 2010 MLG Pro Circuit are the members of Nerdstomper Blue, who claimed their victory Sunday evening in Raleigh. It was a close win for Nerdstomper Blue, after its opponents, Evil Geniuses, won the first set of the finals three to one. Evil Geniuses entered the finals from the lower bracket, though, and needed two winning sets to claim the championship. Things seemed doubtful for Nerdstomper Blue after it lost the first two games of the second set, but it made an impressive comeback, winning three games in a row and taking the championship. In addition to the $9,000 prize for first place, Nerdstomper Blue will now be seeded favorably at the MLG Finals in Dallas later this year. If you missed the livestream, you can still watch the rebroadcast from Sunday's games at MLG's site. For those of you who are curious, Nerdstomper Blue used a shadowplay comp (priest-warlock-shaman) for their first set against Evil Geniuses, then switched to RLS (rogue-warlock-shaman) for the second. NintendoWare Weekly: Phoenix Wright, Chronos Twins DX
It seems the past few weeks of excitement, chock full of NintendoWare releases, have come to an end. Other than the launch of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney on WiiWare, this week's offerings don't exactly fill our hearts with unfettered joy.
