Activating a 3G-enabled PlayStation Vita under a new DataConnect plan with AT&T will get you two free games and three months of PlayStation Plus membership. The promotion is similar to one Sony ran in February 2012, especially because one of the games in question is the same: Super Stardust Delta. The other freebie in the deal is Smart As, a brain-training game developed by XDEV. The Vita received a permanent price drop to $199 last week, alongside cost reductions for the system's tiny but pricey memory cards.

John Cleese will tell you what this all means. It's possible you'll be scolded or encouraged – we don't want to assume your intelligence level – by John Cleese when you play the Vita's upcoming brain training game, Smart As. Cleese has signed on to be your audio sherpa. It's a step up from being a butler, we guess."His instantly recognizable voice and distinctive style deliver intelligent and witty narration during the game, always encouraging and sometimes teasing you to improve every time you play," the announcement post on the PlayStation Blog reads. Cleese will act as your guide throughout the game, quipping at your performance across the 20 different exercises aimed at improving "Logic, Arithmetic, Language, and Observation" included within Smart As.%Gallery-155563%

Sony is boldly experimenting with the idea of a brain training game on a handheld. "Smart As," coming to Vita this fall, is a "social brain training experience" that calculates players' Brain Power through daily exercises based on 20 different puzzle games – and then encourages them to compete with their friends with online leaderboards and Facebook integration. The 20 brain games fall into the categories of "Logic, Arithmetic, Language, and Observation," and use all of the Vita's input methods, including cameras, AR, and both touchscreens. Regional challenges will give you more to do based on where you are when you play it.What part of the brain makes you able to understand Near? Because we don't have that.%Gallery-155563%

Sony's bringing out its biggest guns for its new little game machine, the device currently known as "NGP." A slide revealed franchises currently in development for the newly announced handheld, including familiar names like Hot Shots Golf, LittleBigPlanet, WipEout, Killzone, Resistance, and PS3 showpiece Uncharted. Sony's Shuhei Yoshida showed off the Uncharted game, and revealed some controls new to the series: you can touch the screen (or press X) to jump, swing the NGP back and forth to swing on vines, and climb using the device's rear touch panel "as if you're climbing a vine with both hands."The new IPs sound a bit more, um, eclectic: Gravity Daze, Reality Fighters (an augmented reality title), Smart As, Broken, and the delightful-sounding Little Deviants. Update: PlayStation Blog confirms the complete list of game franchises noted at PlayStation Meeting 2011 with NGP iterations in development: Call of Duty Broken Gravity Daze Hot Shots Golf Hustle Kings Killzone LittleBigPlanet Little Deviants Reality Fighters Resistance Smart As Uncharted WipEout
