Zombie Army Trilogy announced for PC, PS4, Xbox One
British developer Rebellion revealed a revamped third-person shooter bundle for PC, PS4 and Xbox One today, Zombie Army Trilogy. As the studio hinted in February 2014, the collection features both Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army and its sequel, stand-alone expansions of the developer's tactical shooter, Sniper Elite V2. The package also includes "the never-seen-before third installment in the series and a brand new horde mode." Both Nazi Zombie Army and the second expansion launched in 2013 for PC. Zombie Army Trilogy will include 15 missions that span three campaigns and five horde maps with up to four-player cooperative multiplayer options. The trilogy is available for pre-order on Steam for $45, and Rebellion is "offering an exclusive loyalty discount to owners of the first two Nazi Zombie Army games via Steam before launch," though it did not specify how sizable the discount will be. According to the bundle's Steam page, the trilogy is expected to launch on March 6, though Rebellion only noted that the game will launch in "early 2015." Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army games coming to consoles
UK-based developer Rebellion announced that its Sniper Elite V2 spin-off Nazi Zombie Army are coming to consoles after a successful debut last year on PC platforms. "We can't say much yet but it won't just be a re-package of the first two games - there will be plenty of new content to get stuck into," Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley said. "We're not at the stage where we can confirm the platforms right now, but we're fortunate to have experience already from self-publishing on Steam and mobile, so we're confident it'll go smoothly." Rebellion notes that Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army and its sequel Nazi Zombie Army 2 collectively sold more than 500,000 units worldwide over the last year. Both Nazi Zombie Army games are on sale for 75 percent off until March 3 on Steam and through March 7 via Rebellion's Gamestore. [Image: Rebellion]
Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army 2 crawls from the grave later this year
Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army was released in February as an entertaining off-shoot of the staid Sniper Elite V2, but the idea of re-killing fascist corpses from afar proved such a hit with fans that developer Rebellion has announced a sequel. "We really wanted to heighten the demonic, nightmarish tones of the first game," said Rebellion's head of creative, Tim Jones. "The environments, the levels, the soundtrack all give a strong feeling of descent - each encounter, each level becoming progressively more hellish. Most importantly though, we've expanded the legions of Nazi undead with some really intimidating new enemies which we'll reveal soon." The game is currently slated for release on the PC "later this year." A console port is possible, but without a publisher backing the project Rebellion's best hope lies in the promised self-publishing initiatives of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. "We have to admit, we underestimated the demand for the original game. All of sudden we had console gamers desperate for us to port the game to 360 and PS3, but without a publisher this just wasn't feasible. We left a lot of Sniper Elite fans disappointed," stated Jones. "They didn't want to hear excuses from us, they just wanted to play it". "As an independent, we're obviously really excited about what we're hearing from Sony and Microsoft when it comes to self publishing on PS4 and Xbox One. We think the series could be a great fit for them."
Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army breaks out Feb. 28
Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army is filling that world-war-undead void when it comes to Steam on February 28. Rebellion's self-published standalone shooter is designed for single-player or co-op for up to four players. It introduces new close-quarters weapons to Sniper Elite, like shotguns, but also falls back on the series' trademark long-distance mechanics. On the zombified side, would-be soldiers can expect to face enemies which include "roof-jumping snipers" and "Nazi suicide squads."Nazi Zombie Army is priced at $14.99/£9.99/€10.99, but you can lop 20 percent off that if you pre-purchase it on Steam. %Gallery-178841%
