In this latest burst of time-lapse Laika Believes concept artwork from the folks at Minicore Studios, artist Devin Lawson breathes life into a distinctly ominous-looking cyber elephant. Well, we say life – in this case "soulless unending servitude" may be more appropriate.

Video game fan art is common, but not many people film it. G. Papafigos spent a whopping three hours painting an orc from WoW and then sped it up for YouTube. If you're into the art scene, there's a whole slew of recorded fan art online. While this is certainly not machinima, I like it because it's different. It's incredible to see what someone can do with a few hours and a tablet. What I find more amazing is that this guy didn't even use layers!Previously on Moviewatch...

  • Master Chief speed painting is incredible

We'll admit that sometimes we start to think a little too highly of ourselves. We'll just be sitting in the back of the limo popping Cristal with Shiggy and Mario or getting massages with CliffyB, and we'll all of a sudden realize that we're getting above our raising, as they say. Luckily, YouTuber macpulenta's striking drawing of Master Chief is there to remind us that Ben Folds had it right - there's always someone cooler than you.His art is fantastic, that's a given. But the special thing about macpulenta should become pretty quickly. Namely: He's a drawing android. Or he's using magic. If there's any other excuse for the speed with which he's able to render our favorite Spartan, we'd love to hear it. [Thanks, Moo]

Just hours after the initial airing of the Halo 3 "Starry Night" commercial, a deviant artist (from deviantART, natch) by the name of Rahll whipped up a super speedy painting that we featured right here on X3F. Hot on the heels of the Halo 3 beta announcement, Rahll has done it again, this time giving us the piece you see above, entitled "Volatile". It features the Chief displaying the business end of a needler to the nearest Brute (who doesn't look to happy about the whole situation). Sharp eyed fanboys will also pick up a Warthog and Scarab in the background. Of course, we would be remiss in our duties if we didn't remind Rahll that the Needler won't be dual-wieldable in Halo 3. Still, we'll grant some artistic license for work this nice.Nice job, Rahll. Might we suggest something for your next work? Perhaps something with the X3F logo emblazoned upon it? Maybe something cool like ... a flaming 360 controller or something. That would be sweet.Update: It has come to our attention that this isn't necessarily a speed painting, but really more of a regular painting. Still, it's much better than we could have done in the same amount of time, so it's fast to us.
