To coin Sony's term, Squids Odyssey is the first 3DS and Wii U "cross-buy" game, but it's only supported by Nintendo of Europe. Over in Europe, customers who buy the underwater RPG on 3DS can download the previously released Wii U version for free, as long as their Nintendo Network ID is linked across the two systems. However, Siliconera confirmed the promotion isn't coming to North America. We wonder if there's an element of testing the waters going on, but we'll have to wait and see. That's all very interesting, as is 3D rolling platformer Armillo (pictured above, check out its trailer below the break) and the excellent Guacamelee, both of which are now on Wii U. Yet our eyes are inexorably drawn to Bombing Bastards. Not because of the game, which has an undeniably familiar whiff about it, but the name itself, which Nintendo is apparently cool with. Remember when Stealth Bastard Deluxe became Stealth Inc on Sony platforms? Looks like Nintendo doesn't care so much, which is not the way round we pictured that. As ever, you'll find all the new eShop releases below the break. Sales-wise, Kung Fu Rabbit is half-price at $2.49 until July 10, while Just Dance 2014 is permanently down to $40. Also, you can visit the weird and wacky world of 3DS sim Tomodachi Life through a new demo.

  • Squids Odyssey colliding with Wii U, 3DS in spring

Squids Odyssey has slingshotted past its 2013 fall release date on the 3DS and Wii U eShop and is readjusting itself to target this spring. Odyssey is a turn-based, tactical RPG that lets players fight battles by flinging ocean life into their foes. Antagonists have been mutated by an ooze-like pollutant, but they don't seem keen on using their powers for good like our half-shelled friends. Odyssey is a compilation of existing entries Squids and Squids Wild West, but it adds a new campaign, a new Squid hero and reworked controls for the Wii U and 3DS. Players can assemble teams from 15 Squids across four classes to take on Odyssey's 90+ missions. There are also more than 65 stat-boosting helmets to strap onto Squids, in case you were worried about safety gear for your arsenal of sea-creature bullets. [Image: The Game Bakers]

Nintendo has laid out its 2014 indie eShop lineup for the next few months: Mutant Mudds developer Renegade Kid has two games up for 3DS, Moon Chronicles in March and Treasurenauts in May. Wayforward's Shantae and the Pirate's Curse is due out in Q1, and Mojo Bones' side-scrolling bouncer, Siesta Fiesta, is due out in March, both for 3DS. Wii U's "Japan steam rock" platformer, Wooden Sen'Sey, is targeting a February launch, while Nicalis' 1,001 Spikes is due out in Q1 for both Wii U and 3DS. Nihilumbra, Scram Kitty and His Buddy on Rails and Squids Odyssey should land in March for Wii U. Teslagrad is aiming for March or April, and QUBE Director's Cut should launch in April, each for Wii U. For those who want to get their indie gaming on right now, the eShop's two-week Super Indie Connection Sale is live, offering a handful of games for 60 percent off, if you already own one of the games in the sale or if you buy one at full price. Sale games include Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams, Spin the Bottle, Toki Tori 2 and Mighty Switch Force. As a friendly reminder, Retro City Rampage DX is due out on February 6 for the 3DS eShop, and Shovel Knight hits Wii U and 3DS (and Steam) on March 31. [Image: Toxic Games]

  • Squids Odyssey propels itself at 3DS and Wii U eShop this fall

The oceanic, turn-based RPG series Squids is riding a current to the 3DS and Wii U eShop this fall in Squids Odyssey. The port is a remake of the two existing Squids games, Squids and Squids Wild West. The series follows the species' efforts to save the ocean from a black ooze pollutant that turns sea life into Venom violent mutants. Players slingshot members from a squad of Squids at their opponents, dealing damage by crashing into them. It's comparable to a game of pool, only pool doesn't involve propelling creatures into each other in a fight to their death. Squids can belong to the shooter, scout, trooper or healer classes, but a fifth type will debut in Squids Odyssey. Fresh levels and items are also planned, as are "completely revamped" controls to take advantage of each platform's strengths, according to the announcement.
