PSA: Steam Summer Camp Sale ends today
It's time to strip down your bunks, throw your macaroni necklaces in a suitcase and get back to town -- it's the final day of the Steam Summer Camp Sale. Today Steam is featuring some of the sale's biggest titles (which means you probably already have them), including franchise deals on Fallout, Battlefield, Borderlands, Just Cause and Assassin's Creed. One game you may not have bought yet, Terraria, is also 50 percent off today. If there's a better way of forming one last Summer Camp memory than a 2D, Minecraft-inspired sidescrolling goldmine of fun, we can't think of it.
Super Meat Boy, Magicka, Darksiders, and more in today's Steam Summer Sale
Still wondering what that whole Super Meat Boy thing is about? It's about $7.50 today, as part of Steam's Summer Camp Sale. Other big games you can get for tiny sums today include Plants vs. Zombies ($3.39), Magicka ($3.39), and Darksiders ($4.99). If you're trying to win "tickets" to earn prizes during the Steam promotion, today's activities have you performing specific tasks in Magicka, Hoard, Jolly Rover, Super Meat Boy, and Garshasp: The Monster Slayer. Surprisingly, the challenge in the last one is more involved than just saying the word "Garshasp" without getting the giggles.
Worms: Reloaded $10 on Steam, new DLC unearthed
Good news for Worms fans this week, as Team 17 has revealed new downloadable content packs for Worms: Reloaded on PC. Altogether, there are four packs to be had, including the Puzzle, Forts, Time Attack and Retro packs. Each pack includes new single-player missions, hats, gravestones, speech banks, landscape themes, and achievements. For a "limited time," each DLC pack costs $4.24 apiece, 15 percent off the usual price. A note for Mac users: the DLC is only compatible with the PC version of Worms: Reloaded. Team17 tells Joystiq that work began on the DLC "quite a long time ago when the game was solely a PC title," and thus the packs are incompatible with the Mac version. Team17 currently has no plans to bring the DLC to the Mac version, but will "see what happens." In addition to the new DLC, the full Worms: Reloaded game is part of the Steam Summer Camp Sale. When we were kids, we used to be involved with this library program where we'd read books to earn tickets we could redeem for prizes. We relate this anecdote not because it's charming, but to illustrate the irrefutable fact that we were chumps. Want proof? Take a look at the just-launched Steam Summer Camp Sale. Not only are there new games on sale every day until July 10 (Oblivion for $6! Medal of Honor for $10!), but players who complete specific achievements can earn tickets that can be redeemed for free in-game content or even full games! Kids of today, take a moment and thank your lucky stars you live in a world where all you have to do to get prizes is to play games. And please, don't think too harshly of our bookish past selves. We were but babes with no inkling of what saps the future would make us out to be.
