Star Trek Online has always been known for generating unwavering support from its community of gamers. Whether identifying as trekkers, trekkies, casuals or hardcore gamers, players are extremely dedicated, including yours truly. Alongside the numerous fan sites that have been created, there is a select group of individuals out there who have gone beyond the call of duty and put out weekly podcasts. This Sunday, April 17th, the STO podcasting community will come together for the inaugural STO Podcast Summit. Join Red Shirt Army, STOked, Priority One, Podcast UGC and Hailing Frequency as they broadcast live at TrekRadio.net from 6 p.m. EDT to 8 p.m. EDT. If you miss the livestream, have no fear -- the show will be posted in mp3 format on each of the podcasts' individual websites. We are also told that there may be even some surprise guests who drop by, including Cryptic developers.

Lieutenant, take the helm! It's time for another edition of Captain's Log, our regular foray into the farthest reaches of Star Trek Online. The big bombshell of the week -- no, not that one -- has left your humble captain with a serious case of the vapors, so allow me a moment to collect myself. Unless you've been hiding on the holodeck for days -- a wise choice, given the circumstances here on Earth -- you surely have heard the news: STO Executive Producer Craig Zinkievich is gone, baby, gone. According to Zinkievich's farewell letter, Daniel Stahl, formerly a producer on STO, has taken the helm in his place. I thought we'd briefly discuss Zinkievich's departure before moving on Stahl's recent video interview with the STOked podcast crew, where he dropped some delicious hints about future content and provided insight into his mindset as STO's head honcho.

The ESRB has recently published a listing for Stoked: Big Air Edition, a supposed new and more wicked version of February's rippin' flake game for Xbox 360. To get some more info, we got in touch with Bongfish game director Michael Putz.As Bongfish looked to the feedback from fans and as its plans for enhancing the game became more and more ambitious, the developer chose to re-release the game in a kind of "director's cut," as opposed to just patching the original game. Putz also said that since the original released in February, the retail climate wasn't as kind as it is, say, during the holidays -- hence Big Air Edition's outing on November 24. In the new version, Putz says gamers will have access to "all new race challenges, big air/slopestyle events, speedier gameplay, new lighting and a more accommodating learning curve that removes the previous edition's 66 famepoint barriers, which locked most users out of the exciting part of the game."Stoked: Big Air Edition will shred retail powder on November 24 with a MSRP of $39.99. Feel free to warble on over to the official Stoked blog if you wanna sun bake for a few.
