Today, Capcom published an updated list of its all-time bestselling video games. The sales figures are correct up to December 31st, 2019, and reaffirm something that most video game fans have been believed or known about for sometime: man, Capcom is killing it. As Video Games Chronicle (VGC) notes, Devil May Cry 5 has now sold 3.1 million copies since its launch last March, making it the top-selling entry in the franchise. Devil May Cry 4, for comparison, currently stands at 3 million sales, while the "DmC" reboot by Ninja Theory has sold 2.4 million units to date.

  • Street Fighter 5 trailer teases Charlie's return, Capcom Cup 2015 pool mounds to $500,000

You might recognize pieces of the above Street Fighter 5 trailer from earlier this week, but unless you were watching the Capcom Cup last night, you haven't seen the teased return of Charlie that starts around the 1:20 mark. Charlie threw his first punch in Street Fighter Alpha and shares military pal Guile's affection for hurling Sonic Booms (and rocking ridiculous hair styles). As reported by Shoryuken, Capcom Cup contestants received more good news beyond Street Fighter 5's roster addition – through a partnership with Sony, the Capcom Pro Tour and Capcom Cup will return next year with a prize pool worth $500,000. Sounds like a pretty great excuse to us to keep practicing combos. If you're looking for more than just a trailer of Street Fighter 5, last night's stage demo bouts between Ryu and Chun-Li show a few uninterrupted rounds of the wall-breaking PS4 and PC exclusive fighter, as well as the debut of Chun-Li's line of noodle bowl headwear. With Street Fighter 5 now officially official, Capcom's brought out another trailer that more keenly showcases the next generation of lightning kicks and hadoukens. Text in the bottom left of the video denotes the footage as "work in progress", so it's no great surprise the PS4 and PC game remains without a release date. Details are scant beyond PC and PS4 fighters being able to duel each other, but the minute or so of gameplay does seem to tease a few things. Though we don't know exactly how the feature will work, it's particularly intriguing to see Chun-Li spinning-bird-kick Ryu through the stage and into an extended area. Not that it helps her in the end, mind. To watch the video, down, down-forward, forward and punch below the break.

Street Fighter 5 has been "built from the ground up for PlayStation," PlayStation's Adam Boyes announced during PlayStation Experience. Boyes added that the PlayStation 4 "will be the only console this game ever appears on," though it's unclear if that will also include potential updates like those seen for previous numerical entries. Crossplay between PC and PS4 player-bases will also be supported.

Welcome to Joystiq Weekly, a "too long; didn't read" of each week's biggest stories, reviews and original content. Each category's top story is introduced with a reactionary gif, because moving pictures aren't just for The Daily Prophet. Judging by how many uploads of Street Fighter 5's announcement trailer have been pulled, we're thinking Capcom doesn't want us to know about it just yet. Considering it seems to be a PS4 console exclusive, we're wondering if the reveal slipped out ahead of PlayStation Experience, this weekend's gathering in Las Vegas to talk all things PlayStation. We can find out together as the event plays out over the next 48 hours, but PlayStation news isn't the only thing happening this week – The King's Quest series is getting a new entry, we reviewed Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Telltale Games' Game Of Thrones, and Managing Editor Susan Arendt explained the Danganronpa series' remarkable conveyance of how depression works. Those and many more stories are waiting for you after the break!

Capcom apparently let the Street Fighter 5 cat out of the YouTube bag early, with a now removed teaser trailer announcing the fighter "exclusively on PS4 and PC." Unsurprisingly there aren't many details, but as soon as Capcom's ready to pipe up we'll let you know. Get the trailer while it's hot (or until it's removed again) below the break. [Image: Capcom]
