Both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Capcom's fairly massive Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collection have been temporarily discounted over at Capcom's official shop, meaning that either version of the 15 disc box set can be had for the princely sum of $100. While both bundles include a metric ton of physical goodies, Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online Edition and Street Fighter X Tekken, the PS3 SKU also includes codes to download all three Street Fighter Alpha games on PSN, in addition to other digital bonuses. So, if you're part of the subset of people who own both consoles and are eager to dump a solid Benjamin on a stack of Street Fighter tapes, the PlayStation 3 version will have more bang for your buck. Also, can we borrow some money?

There's some classic platforming to be had in both Rayman and Shinobi in this week's Nintendo downloads, and even a way to deal with Jack's overabundance of stress in Stop Stress: A Day of Fury. There's over ten titles in all, so cruise past the break for the full list.

The ESRB has rated both Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3 for PSP and PS3, meaning that both titles are more than likely coming to PSN.Hopefully, the sequels won't take the same eight-month path from ESRB rating to PSN debut like the original title did. With Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix BBQ releasing in the relative future, we'd hope that the Alpha sequels are meant to return before those titles.[Via Siliconera, 1UP]

This week's PSN update is just overflowing with machismo. We've got Bionic Commando Rearmed grappling against Hitler Master-D and the world warriors battling it out in Street Fighter Alpha. Just a note of warning, SFA does not support online play -- come to think of it, neither does Bionic Commando Rearmed. It's all old-school offline gaming up in this joint. There's plenty of new videos to check out this week and we're looking forward to seeing what this BioShock PS3 theme looks like. The grimps over at PS3 Fanboy have this week's European update hanging from a thread of silk over in their garden. Check out this week's NA PSN update after the break.

Street Fighter Alpha is the gem at the top of today's rather pathetic pile of treasure. Unless you're a fan of themes and wallpapers, that's actually all that will interest you. It could definitely be worse though; of all the PS1 games that could've been chosen, Street Fighter Alpha's definitely not one to moan about. Here's the full release list: Street Fighter Alpha PS1 game ($5.99) Bionic Commando Rearmed theme (free) 2x Hot Shots Golf Open Tee 2 wallpapers (free) 2x Madden 09 wallpapers (free)

  • Bionic Commando will have PSN exclusive challenge room

\ Ben Judd, a producer of Bionic Commando: Rearmed, has revealed to PlayStation.Blog the nature of the "VERY cool surprise" Capcom mentioned early last month for the PSN version of the game. It seems to be "an exclusive challenge room" that will "make for bragging rights" due to the difficult nature of the stage. The post also unveils another medal, called Faster than a Speeding Bullet. To achieve this medal, the player must block 100 projectiles using the Bionic Arm. Like the last medal revealed, these medals seem to correspond to this list of Achievements. Most likely, when the game is patched with Trophies, that list won't look too different. Finally, Capcom mentions that Street Fighter Alpha will also be available today on the PSN. For those of you who felt that this wasn't the Street Fighter surprise you were hoping for, there might be something else planned for us. "Some of you may be asking, 'Come on John D, was that's it?' Um, if I say more, the PR team will kick my a$$, so I'll leave it as a definitely, maybe." What could this mean? Oh, Capcom! You are such a tease!

We wouldn't blame you if you'd forgotten that Capcom was likely to bring the first in its Alpha series of 2D fighters over to Sony's digital playground. Honestly, we have trouble remembering what we had for breakfast last week. Nevertheless, Capcom has confirmed that Street Fighter Alpha (or Zero if you swing that way) will be the latest classic PSone game to hurricane kick its way over to PSN when it debuts this Thursday. So, yes, PS3 owners, you may not be in on the SSFIITHDROMGBBQ beta, but at least you're getting something, right? Don't be so greedy.Update: Capcom clarifies the price: $5.99; and no online mode.[Via PS3 Fanboy]

  • Collectibles cast Street Fighter in plastic, ink

If there's one thing we enjoy as much as playing games, it's collecting various odds and ends that reflect our passion for the hobby. Whether it's a Lunar Ghaleon puppet on the mantel or the Varia Suit statue on the coffee table, there is never any question where our loyalties lie. Now UDON Entertainment has added another collectible to our radar in the form of a limited edition art book dedicated to the numerous brawlers who have thrown down in Capcom's storied Street Fighter franchise. The hardcover will feature the artistic styling of such artists as Penny Arcade's Gabe and pin-up style comic cover artist Adam Hughes, among several others. The book is available for pre-order now, with orders placed today dropping you in the running for Capcom's IGN-branded Okami for the Wii. At $80, the book isn't cheap, but really, when it comes to the things we adore, what price can do love justice? And while we have Street Fighter on the brain, we'd be remiss not to mention an interesting blog post over at Camp Capcom, as the company is apparently entertaining the idea of creating a collection of figurines based on the upcoming Street Fighter IV, and as such are looking for input on which characters deserve to make the cut. So, of the faces we know, both old and new, who would we most like to see make the leap from polygons to plastic? E. Honda? Vega? El Fuerte? Hit up the poll on Capcom's blog and let your voice, albeit anonymously, be heard.%Gallery-22939%

Reader Matt G. sent in a tip, detailing a number of PS1 titles rated by the ESRB that have yet to be released on PSP/PS3. These downloadable classics should arrive on the PSN some time in the future -- but when? Wipeout XL (E) Jet Moto 3 (E) Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo (E) Buster Bros. Collection (E) Street Fighter Alpha (T) -- previously discovered, not released Rayman (E) Castlevania Chronicles (T) -- previously discovered, not released SCEA has been slow to make PS1 classics available on the PS Store. We're eagerly awaiting a version of Puzzle Fighter we can take on the go.

What's that? You can't wait until PSN Thursday to find out what's coming to the PS3's download network. You want some kind of insider info to find out what might be coming in the next few weeks or months. Well that's just greedy, and we're not afraid to tell you so.But we're not above enabling your greed either, so we'll pass along the latest rumors of what's coming, courtesy of England's Official PlayStation Magazine. According to the latest issue, original PlayStation classics Grand Theft Auto 1 and 2 will soon be available for download, along with Street Fighter Alpha. No word on when they're coming or how credible the magazine's information is, but beggars can't be choosers. So, uh, stop begging.[Via PS3 Fanboy]

Not one to keep secrets, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) has revealed that Street Fighter Alpha is coming to the PlayStation 3 and PSP care of SCEA. Given the platforms, first-party publisher, and relative age of the game, we're going to guess this will be coming as a downloadable title via the PlayStation Network, probably prior to the release of the still-unrated (and still long-winded) Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.Although we would have preferred the sequel, Street Fighter Alpha could serve as a fun, nostalgic appetizer until SFIITHDR makes it way onto the network. Then again, perhaps Capcom is waiting until both fighters are released to announce Super Street Fighter Alpha 3 Hyper Turbo HD Remix Redux, thus earning a lifetime achievement award for obnoxiously long game titles.[Via PSP Fanboy]

According to the ESRB, retro fighting fans are in for a treat. Street Fighter Alpha is returning as a downloadable title for both PSP and PS3. The ESRB has consistently been an early source for upcoming games, and we're glad to see yet another fighter make its way onto the Network.PSP and PS3 fighters are few and far apart. Tekken Dark Resurrection stands as one of the few fighters available on (ironically) both platforms. The upcoming addition of Alpha should be a nice way of passing the time until Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, no?[Via Filefront]
