  • PS Plus in February: Outlast, Metro: Last Light, Payday 2

It's memories, robberies, and underground monstrosities for PlayStation Plus subscribers next month, with February's line-up featuring Remember Me, Payday 2, and Metro: Last Light. As for Vita, it's the cutesy karts of Modnation Racers: Road Trip, and the less cutesy cross-beats of Street Fighter X Tekken. No, Plus hasn't forgotten about the PS4, silly billy. Sony's newest console is getting asylum horror Outlast on Plus next month, but we already knew that. The real question is when: PlayStation UK's website says next week on February 5, so going by PSN traditions that'd mean a February 4 showing in North America. We'll find out for sure soon enough. Looking at the PS3 games specifically, we'd recommend checking out the "suffocating despair" of shooter sequel Metro: Last Light - no really, it's fun! - and the heist-em-up capers of Payday 2 if you haven't already have. As for Remember Me? Well, if you like neo-action games full of neo-jargon, then sure - but maybe read Ludwig's neo-review first.

Sony has announced its European PlayStation Plus lineup for October, revealing that subscribers will receive free access to Far Cry 3 and other downloadable hits throughout the month. Capcom's action-RPG Dragon's Dogma will also launch for PlayStation Plus in Europe next month, complete with the game's recently released Dark Arisen expansion. Black Forest Games' Kickstarter-funded platformer Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams rounds out the month's PS Plus offerings on the PlayStation 3. PlayStation Vita owners will receive the crossover fighting game Street Fighter x Tekken as part of the PlayStation Plus program in October, along with Namco Bandai's oddball stuff-gathering sim Touch My Katamari. Sony has issued no word as to whether any of next month's featured games in Europe will join North America's PlayStation Plus lineup.

  • Vita PSN sale celebrates games from Japan

From the Land of the Rising Sun comes Vita Games of the Falling Prices. Sony's running a two-week PSN sale on Japanese-developed entries for its gaming portable, and, like the toppings on an okonomiyaki, there are a variety of tasty-looking morsels on offer. The highlights of the first week are Keiji Inafune's action-RPG Soul Sacrifice and Team Ninja port-of-a-port Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus, down to $25 and $28, respectively. The discounts are much more appealing with a PS Plus subscription; Soul Sacrifice is just $17.49 and Sigma 2 Plus $19.59. Those prices and the other first week offers are available starting today, through to Monday, August 19. A couple of fighters top the second week's bill, which runs August 20-26. During that time you can pick up Dead or Alive 5 Plus for $20, but here's an even more attractive equation: Dead or Alive 5 Plus plus PlayStation Plus equals just $10. Similarly, Street Fighter X Tekken looks good at the lowered price of $28, but the PS Plus price of $19.59 is even better. There are 18 Japanese games in total in the Vita sale; check out the PlayStation Blog for the full list of whens and how muches.

Both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Capcom's fairly massive Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collection have been temporarily discounted over at Capcom's official shop, meaning that either version of the 15 disc box set can be had for the princely sum of $100. While both bundles include a metric ton of physical goodies, Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online Edition and Street Fighter X Tekken, the PS3 SKU also includes codes to download all three Street Fighter Alpha games on PSN, in addition to other digital bonuses. So, if you're part of the subset of people who own both consoles and are eager to dump a solid Benjamin on a stack of Street Fighter tapes, the PlayStation 3 version will have more bang for your buck. Also, can we borrow some money?

    02.02.2013

The PC versions of fighting games are usually the last to receive any updates or content made for their respective arcade and/or console brethren, but that doesn't mean the developers behind said games don't feel super awful about it. To wit, Capcom will be reducing the price of the Street Fighter X Tekken character DLC that hits PCs on Wednesday, February 6, from $19.99 to $4.99, at least for the first two weeks of its availability. The DLC pack contains 12 characters originally added to the console version back in July of last year.Capcom has also stated that development on the PC version of SFXT's "ver. 2013" update is still underway, and while there is no set window for its release, "the team is very aware that the DLC for SFXT has taken longer than usual to be released and is working hard to try and reduce the amount of time you will have to wait."

When it's time for the year's Evolution Championship Series fighting game selections to be announced, normally the process shakes out like this: A post goes up on Shoryuken, the fighting game community cheers and/or jeers for a while, and then everyone gets back to practicing. This year, however, things are a bit different.Seven games have been announced as official selections, as per usual: Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter X Tekken (ver. 2013), King of Fighters XIII and Persona 4 Arena. The eighth game shakes up some paradigms, being selected through an ongoing charity fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.Basically, players donate money to the BCRF in the name of whichever game they want to see in the final slot, be it Dead or Alive 5, Darkstalkers 3, Capcom vs. SNK 2, or any of the 13 other eligible titles. Whichever game's community raises the most money for charity before the end of this month will be selected as the final, official EVO 2013 selection.Donation links can be found here, so if you want to forcefully subject people to a global MLP: Fighting Is Magic tournament, you can do so for a good cause.

We're not entirely sure why Street Fighter's 25th anniversary equates to a cross-promotional merchandising deal with Sanrio, but man are we glad that it does. Not only do we get adorable figures and plushies out of the partnership, but now Mad Catz has introduced a line of Street Fighter X Sanrio products that are both the cutest and have practical applications beyond said cuteness.Obviously, the Street Fighter X Sanrio Fighstick Pro (above) tugs at a very, very specific part of our heart, even if it does cost $160. While not stated specifically in any of its promotional materials, we feel it's safe to assume the arcade stick uses the same Sanwa Denshi parts as the Street Fighter X Tekken Fightstick Pro models it's based on. Just, you know, very pink. The line also includes iPhone 5 and iPad 2/3 cases in your choice of Hello Kitty Chun-Li or Hello Kitty Ryu flavors, which run for $35 and $45 respectively and can be seen in the gallery below.%Gallery-173109%

You know that big update coming to Street Fighter X Tekken in mid-December? We hope you marked your calendar in pencil because producer Tomoaki Ayano says the patch has been pushed back to January 29, 2013.Word comes from the development blog, where Ayano addresses tweaks are coming to the throw system, gray-area life recovery speed and how quick combos work. Ayano doesn't go into specific details on how these systems will change, but he does say he'd like throws to be faster and may change how the life gauges shake when taking damage. Completely redefines the game!

Xbox 360 users will find two new games available under the Games on Demand section of Xbox Live. Capcom has announced Slant Six's shooter Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is available for download on Xbox Live alongside cross-over fighter Street Fighter X Tekken. Each will set you back $39.99 in the United States.Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City wasn't in the best shape when we reviewed it, but a patch issued back in June may have alleviated some of our issues. And as far as Street Fighter X Tekken goes, that thing's been patched up, down and sideways, and Capcom is promising a "hefty update" later on this year. There's also a new mobile version of Street Fighter X Tekken on iOS now, if you're more for fighting on the bus, train or – well, everywhere we guess since you won't stop staring at your iPhone.

The update also brings a mystery character that's so secret even community manager Brelston says he doesn't yet know who it is."Once I have that info, I'll make sure it's on Unity ASAP," he writes on the Capcom Unity blog. How mysterious. Street Fighter X Tekken Mobile is available on iOS devices.

Street Fighter X Tekken is getting a "'hefty free" update later this year, Capcom announced. The update is expected to substantially re-balance the game, as well as provide some visual and mechanical tweaks. While every character is likely to receive some balancing tweaks, as always with these things some characters need more tweaking than others.Capcom outlined some of the tweaks already planned for implementation, which include a range of tweaks at varying levels of impact. Characters listed so far for tweakage include Ken, Kazuya, Cammy, Julia, Bob, Abel, Xiaoyu, Balrog, Heihachi, Ibuki, and Paul.Less hefty but just as free is the trailer above, a new one for SFxT's Vita edition. It outlines some of the new features (not tweaks) coming to that version, which is due on October 23.

We're sure this new trailer for Street Fighter X Tekken does a good job at summarising what's coming to the Vita version. Thing is, we couldn't help but be distracted by the antics of producer Tomoaki Ayano, who absolutely steals the show. Not only does he get super animated when fighting on the touch screen, but he also shows off an array of faces that would make Jack Black jealous. It looks like working with the wonderfully bananas Yoshinori Ono has rubbed off on Ayano.Oh, should you be interested in the actual game you can also check out some shiny new screenshots below. If you can't wait for the Vita version, Street Fighter X Tekken Mobile wants to satiate your portable fighting crossover needs. The iOS version, now available for a promotional price of $2.99, comes with customized controls, a new timed survival Gauntlet mode, and ranked online multiplayer. The roster, though, is a bit sparse at the moment. There are ten fighters, five from Tekken and five from Street Fighter. The Tekken quintet includes Kazuya, Nina, King, Paul, and Hworang, while the Street Fighter line-up has Ryu, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, Guile, and Hugo. That's quite the drop from the other versions, but then again so's the price. The addition of further characters down the line is likely, but in what form remains to be seen. The Vita version of Street Fighter X Tekken arrives in North America on October 23.
