While it's true that the high-rolling blogging lifestyle has left us out-of-touch with the needs of the unwashed masses, even the fat cats at Joystiq understand that everyone loves a deal (if only to free up some much needed capital for, let's say, a chronically underfunded game publishing division). To help lighten the burden on your wallets, Capcom is offering the following: 50% off a single PSN game every week for five weeks, beginning with Marvel vs. Capcom 2. In total you could scoop up all five games for just under $30 and, since this is a 50% off sale, that also means you'll have saved just under $30. That's math. We've pasted the full list below for you to mull over: February 18, 2010 – Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for $7.49 February 25, 2010 – Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for $7.49 March 4, 2010 – Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for $4.99 March 11, 2010 – Age of Booty for $4.99 March 18, 2010 – 1942: Joint Strike for $4.99

  • BioShock 2 hacking minigame could cause issues for colorblind gamers

[Image credit: Negative Gamer] Allow me to break from the usual third-person writing style we employ at Joystiq to address my personal stake in writing this post -- I'm part of the approximately 10 percent of human males with colorblindness. I had to return Super Puzzle Fighter for GBA and turn on the symbols in Hexic (the price I pay for the love of puzzle games). Like Russ at MTV Multiplayer, I (quite likely) have the most common form of colorblindness: Deuteranopia. Personal info aside, Negative Gamer put together a bit of an analysis of BioShock 2's hacking system -- a system which applies color matching to various rewards/punishments (green = hack, blue = reward, red = alarm, white = electric shock) and one which could be problematic for those suffering from colorblindnesses many forms. The piece takes a program called "Colour Contrast Analyser" (yes, it's a British-born application) and runs an example image of the hacking program through it, pointing out how the colors would appear to people with a variety of types of colorblindness -- the image you see above is but one example. So! If you've ever wondered what it's like to deal with the frustration of being colorblind and not being able to play a game because of it, now's your big chance. If you want to start a petition to "fix" the situation like these folks did for Modern Warfare 2, I'd really appreciate it. [Via MTV Multiplayer]

A poster on Capcom Unity's forums has received an answer to the question of whether Devil May Cry 4 and Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will be getting the trophy treatment and it is no. Capcom feels that DMC4 already has "its own little trophylike system" and the Puzzle Fighter team has moved on to other projects. There is a tiny bit of good news though, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix may have trophies implemented, but it will depend on "what schedules look like and what Sony's requirements are." The only real good news is future games from Capcom will all have trophies, as it has "been worked into CEI's developer contracts as a required deliverable." Have other publishers signed such a contract? This is rather disappointing, but after a string of such reports, we are not surprised. We are just really hoping SSF2T HD Remix will have support.[Thanks, Jake C.!]

Reader Matt G. sent in a tip, detailing a number of PS1 titles rated by the ESRB that have yet to be released on PSP/PS3. These downloadable classics should arrive on the PSN some time in the future -- but when? Wipeout XL (E) Jet Moto 3 (E) Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo (E) Buster Bros. Collection (E) Street Fighter Alpha (T) -- previously discovered, not released Rayman (E) Castlevania Chronicles (T) -- previously discovered, not released SCEA has been slow to make PS1 classics available on the PS Store. We're eagerly awaiting a version of Puzzle Fighter we can take on the go.

It wasn't easy getting Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on both Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network, according to Capcom's Sr. Director of Strategic Planning & Research Christian Svensson. "It requires considerable coordination," he said in an interview with Gamasutra, "but we've been working closely with Sony and Microsoft, and they both agree with our strategy."In terms of price, Svensson said that they will likely be identical for both platforms. "We're offering the same value as far as the type of content, so it only stands to reason," he said. "If the timing's the same, and if the content is the same, pricing should probably be the same."Svensson added that multplatform releases, even in the real of downloadable content, would be Capcom's primary focus, but that console-specific content might happen. "Are there exclusive content deals that could be struck? Possibly," he said.%Gallery-2567%
