All six games are on sale through March 11 at 10 a.m. PT.

To celebrate the long, dangerous trek that both Syberia and Syberia 2 had to endure to arrive on Steam, both titles are 20 percent off until next Thursday, May 26 at 1PM ET. That's $8 a pop for these two adventure games from the early aughts. Both titles follow Kate Walker, a lawyer from NYC, who is on a journey across Europe to shut down an automaton factory. Along the way, she come across a host of characters and events that change her life irrevocably as she's swept up in all those clickable objects.

After leaving us agog with its announcement of Activision support, Good Old Games is extending its lineup of DRM-free downloadable classics further with the aid of Atari. Though the full list of PC titles is set to be unveiled throughout April, GOG.com has already confirmed the following trio: Outcast, Master of Orion and Master of Magic. GOG's predilection for preserving point-and-clickers for posterity hasn't taken a break during this announcement (and accompanying Twitter competition), as it has also noted the addition of Benoit Sokal's s'okay adventure series, Syberia. The first half of the elegiac experience is available now for $9.99, including free soundtrack, wallpaper and GOG avatar. The second part -- along with Amerzone -- will follow in "the coming weeks."

  • Microids: Syberia 3 real, console release 'essential'

Developer Microids confounded our meager brains on April Fool's with a gag press release announcing a new point-and-click Syberia adventure in which players on both the PlayStation 3 and PC would be able to "collaborate online." Now the French dev sends word that while that announcement may have been all in good fun, the company is working on a third Syberia game. However, president Emmanuel Olivier notes that the game's console hopes rest with Sony. Syberia 3 will get a PC release "for sure," though Microids adds that, given rising development costs, a cross-platform release is "essential." That said, the company writes in a rather frank statement that Sony has a history of turning its nose up at the studio, having previously denied a U.S. release of several unnamed Microids titles including the PS2 version of the original Syberia. The developer calls out Sony for "censorship" and what it deems "exorbitant royalties" demanded by the console manufacturer as part of "the 'rule of the game' imposed by Sony." Microids has gone so far as to launch a letter writing campaign to get its game onto the PS3. We've reached out to Microids for more, if only to ask why it feels that Sony is the only game in town.

Right, here, in Syberia. You might not know this, but Syberia is one of the best adventure games ever made, and any computer would be honored to have it running. It's like a fine wine, and tastes better than most of the garbage people cram into their PCs these days.Hooray for the DS, because this atmospheric winner is getting a second chance to grab the attention of portable players. We've picked up the first several screenshots, and it appears the updated inventory system will now be fixed at the top, handy for simultaneously controlling Kate Walker via the touch screen. More details as we get them, but ink up that pen for adding this bad boy to your shopping list ultra-soon.%Gallery-24086%

  • Syberia takes an adventure on the DS

It looks like Myst isn't the only oldschool PC adventure game to be ported to the DS. According to Mindscape, Syberia is on its way, too. Since it's only a port, it won't contain any new content. Yet, we're glad to know that the game will feature touch-screen functionality, since that's always a plus in adventure titles. You can also expect an improved interface and menu system, to make inventories easier to navigate. In Syberia, you take control of businesswomen Kate Walker, who's looking for the long-lost heir of a toy-making family. One of Syberia's best aspects, though, is its surreal, steampunk-esque setting, which we hope translates well onto the DS.The game is scheduled to release in Europe this October, but there's no word yet of a North American localization.[Via Nintendic]
