  • XFPS RateUp emerges for PlayStation 3, includes sensitivity adjustments

Believe it or not, it's been over a year since Team Xtender's XFPS for Xbox 360 was released and lambasted for its sketchy handling of mice inputs. Thankfully, it seems the crew got the message, and has attempted to remedy the issue on its latest contraption, the XFPS RateUp for PS3. According to IGN, this device includes the same keyboard / mouse-to-console capabilities, but throws in a pair of much needed adjustment wheels that "add an additional 16-levels of X and Y axis sensitivity for dialing in mouse movement." Still, it remains to be seen if PlayStation 3 owners will be willing to fork over a C-note to pick one of these up -- especially considering the unit's native KB / mouse support in some titles -- but on the real, we'd hold off for a review even if you're currently tempted.[Via IGN]

  • Temperature-monitoring case mod for the Wii

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/mods/Temperature_monitoring_case_mod_for_the_Wii'; Evolving from the designs of Team Xtender's past mods, the ii-Hot Rock case aims to do more than just light the Wii with colorful LEDs. The $62.95 shell comes equipped with a digital thermometer that displays the console's internal temperature, and the LEDs shift with that measurement. Every 5° change pushes their hue towards either a colder or warmer glow, luminescing a light blue at sub-28°C and glaring klaxon red when temperatures over 55°C are detected. If you're paranoid about overheating consoles, a mod like this would be perfect for quickly warning you to either shut your system off or execute an emergency saucer separation, putting distance between you and the rest of the starship before the Wii's warp core breaches. Let's all hope it never comes to that. Set a course past the post break, and check out a couple more photos of Team Xtender's ii-Hot Rock case.

  • Team Xtender's XCM BestTilt Xbox 360 mod caught on tape

The same folks who brought us the unfortunately less-than-impressive XFPS module have apparently busted out their own rendition of the ever-popular tilt sensitive mod for the Xbox 360's controller. Apparently, these folks tend to get their points across best via video, and Xbox-Scene has a brief clip of the XCM BestTilt mod fully installed and operational. The company claims that its tilt solution can morph your mundane controller to a motion sensing one in "five simple solders," and also mentions that its product ups the ante over the other guys by including a tilt controller chip and a replacement shell, too. Additionally, the "plug 'n play" term is thrown out there without much care, but we'd definitely take that one with a healthy dose of salt. Nevertheless, feel free to click on through to catch the currently unpriced XCM BestTilt in action.[Via Xbox360Fanboy]

Team Xtender, the group behind the chrome casing and Black Knight Wii mods, plans to diversify its line of I-Case replacement shells with a more colorful look. The mod manufacturer has posted photos of its concept models in their new outfits, dressing the Wii and its stand in red, yellow, green, blue, and pink.Nothing has been finalized yet, so don't expect to see these vibrant kits on the market for a while. The I-Case's pricing has been a little more competitive than the SHOCKii's ($40 versus $50), so we're glad to see some competition in the replacement shell market. • XCM unveils Multi-Component Cable v2: console connections unite

We're all about keeping things nice and well kempt, and if you're the type who's sporting a house full of consoles, you know precisely how difficult a clean wiring solution is to maintain. Helping to clear out that rat's nest of cabling is XCM -- those same folks who brought us the XFPS -- which is delivering the Multi-Component Cable v2 to simply that cord conundrum. Sporting a trio of connectors, this single device can simultaneously connect to your Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation 3, and reportedly your dusty PS2 as well, and plugs into your TV set via component outs. As you might expect, a simple flip of the toggle switch changes the console you see on screen without you having to risk your life climbing atop the television. Currently, the device is still stuck in "preview" mode, but XCM promises to have a full list of specs and availability details ready soon, and if you can catch a video sneak peek after the jump.

The XFPS -- a nifty adapter that allows keyboard and mouse controls on 360 -- showed up on our front step today. We have to admit the UPS guy was crazy good at evading our automated Nerf turrets. Naturally we tore right into the package, revealing an ordinary cardboard box. Inside of that was the XFPS and some instructions. All in all, a fairly unexciting unboxing ritual. We'll be testing this sucker in short order to give you the lowdown on how well it works, so stay tuned. Oh, and If you've been eyeing one of these for yourself, pay attention, because the very unit you see pictured above could be yours. Once we put it through its paces, the XFPS will be hastily given away in a glee inducing contest. Until then, just dream of effortless head shots.

While product announcements are certainly thrilling at times, there's really nothing better than getting some live action video to spy before you buy. We've seen Wowwee's FlyTech Dragonfly buzzing around T3's headquarters, and we've witnessed Doom being played on an OLPC XO, but now we've got several videos showing Team Xtender's XFPS 360 doing its thang. The handy converter box allows gamers who dig the Xbox 360's high definition visuals -- but prefer to input commands via Sony's dual-shock controller or the tried and true keyboard / mouse tandem -- to have their wildest wishes granted. Moreover, it reportedly plays nice with the PS2 light gun, racing wheel, dance mat, and guitar (huzzah!). So if you're still fence-bound trying to decide whether or not this thing's worth your $79.99 come the first week of January, be sure to click on for a YouTube demonstration, and hit the read link for some more in-depth coverage.

At $79.99, TeamXtender's XFPS 360, a keyboard and mouse adapter that also sports a PlayStation 2 device port, is no impulse buy. But, aside from being an obvious investment for PC-trained gamers, XFPS 360 promises some bizarre possibilities by way of its PS2 port. Never mind that wielding your Dual Shock 2 to rip apart the Locust is so inappropriately rad, dude, try pluggin' in your (Guitar Hero) guitar and thrashing RAAM to death! The XFPS 360 is scheduled to ship in early January via Video Game Advantage (official retailer of TeamXtender products).[Via Xbox 360 Fanboy]

Last week we reported that TeamXtender had plans to create an adapter for your 360 so you could hookup your mouse, keyboard or PS2 controller. Today, TeamXbox received some prototype shots of the device as TeamXtender seems to be moving full speed ahead in development. The adapter itself is looking a tad large, but I guess beauty is neglected as functionality is the main focus. More pictures after the jump.

If for some odd reason you wish you could use your uncomfortable PS2 controller on your 360, then TeamXtender has an answer. TeamXtender is in the planning stages of creating an adapter that your Xbox 360 controller would plug into to allow full PS2 Dualshock support and would also allow keyboard/mouse connectivity. I'm in love with my sexy white controller, but would you be enticed by such an offering or are you like me and satisfied with the your current 360 controller?[Thanks, SuicideNinja]

TeamXtender, the bad boys of 360 case design, are at it again. This time they have released a new design called Chameleon, which (surprise) changes colors using LEDs. Perhaps more interesting is their new custom design featuring the Master Chief (shown at right). Presumably, TeamXtender will offer cases with different images in the future. It's sure to be a hit a parties and attract more fingerprints than an iPod and PSP put together. Team Xtender just announced the winner of the XCM 360 Full Case side panel design contest. The winning design -- entitled "Black Knight" -- was created by a mysterious individual known only as Hector, and comes in both red and blue LED varieties. Team Xtender plans to run a small production of this limited edition design so, if you want one you'd best hurry. Of course, it's no surprise that Hector won: the Black Knight always triumphs! Constantly moving your 360 from screen to screen? VGA connection in the office, component downstairs, S-video at Grandma's place, regular old composite in the laundry room? No, you don't? Neither do we...but apparently somebody does, 'cause Team Xtender's new XCM360 5 Output Cable provides five separate output methods for your 360 all in one cable! There's no price or release date info yet, but considering how overpriced mind-numbingly marked-up first-party console cables are, it wouldn't surprise us if this ended up being competitively priced. Team Xtender is also offering the XCM Multi-Console Component Cable, a cable with component connections on one end and PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360 connections on the other. This I can wrap my brain around. For some reason Team Xtender's site doesn't support permalinks to entries, so you'll have to scroll down to the post to read it. [Via Xbox360.qj.net]

  • Team Xtender faceplates: some assembly required

After hearing about Team Xtender's faceplate series, Tacohead at lowdown411 got a little carried away. He ordered all five of them! Overall, he seems pleased with the one he assembled... wait. Assembled?Apparently, some of the pieces come unassembled. That, in and of itself, isn't so bad, but there's no manual telling you how to proceed: "I put the IR port cover in - simple enough. Then I came up against the USB spring loaded cover. This part was a bit of a pain in the ass but ultimately I think I did it correctly. There are no instructions with the items or on the website so you'll have to use your mind a bit (damn!)."I know gamers are stereotyped as being lazy, and I really wouldn't mind putting this together, but even a little xerox'ed manual is in order. Can I get a harumph?[Thanks, Tacohead]
