Amazon released 'The Boys' season two finale a few hours early
What’s better for streaming — a full-season release that you can binge immediately, or a weekly episode drip feed that draws things out for a few months? Amazon and Netflix have been switching things up with their original content releases lately, and Amazon chose the latter strategy for season two of its anti-super hero series The Boys. The season finale episode was scheduled for release at midnight PT tonight, but instead the streamer pulled a Jack Ryan (and The Expanse) and posted it a few hours early.

Amazon's superhero show 'The Boys' is getting a college spinoff
In the war of the streaming services, killer content is the best ammunition. Amazon’s original series The Boys is so popular that not only was a third season ordered before the second season even aired, but a spinoff is also in the works. Executive producers Seth Rogen and Eric Kripke confirmed the news on Twitter, and the spinoff will feature a superhero college run by giant corporation Vought International, according to Deadline.

'The Boys' season 2 teaser hints at more blood-soaked mayhem
Amazon is ready to show a glimpse of The Boys' second season mere months after greenlighting more episodes... and this most definitely won't be family-friendly. The company has posted a teaser for the season that steers clear of revealing the plot, but makes patently clear that Billy, Hughie and their growing crew will take care of rogue superheroes in the bloodiest way possible -- don't watch if you're squeamish. It's also clear that the new episodes will pick up where the first season left off, including that ending (we don't dare spoil a thing) and Homelander's psychotic brand of patriotism.

What's on TV this week: 'Another Life'
This week we're loaded with new stuff to watch on streaming, including Katee Sackhoff in a new non-Battlestar Galactica science fiction series, Another Life. Also new on Netflix this week is The Great Hack, a documentary focusing on the Cambridge Analytica election scandal, season two of Canada's Workin' Moms and the final season of Orange is the New Black. If you prefer Amazon, then check out its superheroes-gone-bad series The Boys -- season two is already in the works. On disc, Battle Angel: Alita brings its uncanny hero to Blu-ray, while for sports fans there's the USATF championships, WNBA All-Star game and F1 action from Germany. Finally, for gamers there's Wolfenstein: Youngblood across several platforms, and Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot is ready for play in virtual reality. Amazon has already renewed 'The Boys' for a second season
Amazon is apparently confident The Boys will prove a hit -- so confident that it's committing to more before the Prime Video show is even available. The company has renewed its ugly-side-of-superheroes production for a second season days ahead of the series' July 26th premiere. On top of this, Amazon has confirmed that Aya Cash from You're the Worst will take on the role of Stormfront, the most powerful member of Payback (a spoof of the Avengers) and a "diabolical" character.

Amazon's 'The Boys' has Karl Urban fighting superheroes gone bad
Are you sick of the usual superhero fare? So is Amazon. It just posted a teaser for The Boys, a Prime Video adaptation of Gareth Ennis' comic book about wayward superheroes. The show casts Karl Urban as a CIA enforcer who "spanks" a group of corrupt heroes who've become a threat to the public. It's practically the polar opposite of Marvel and DC movies, and it's true to the extremely violent and sexual nature of Ennis' story -- you really don't want your kids to see this one.
