The Awesomenauts theme song is made of the stuff of legend -- love, money and cheese -- and now it's available for free right here. Well, free as in it doesn't cost any cold, hard cash, but it does involve payment of a more modern kind: social network sharing.Anyone can download the theme song after tweeting the link or sharing it on Facebook through the service Pay with a Tweet. Or, you can wait until Friday, June 1, to download the entire soundtrack from Bandcamp, from artist Sonic Picnic.

  • Breakfast Topic: What is your class theme song?

In a past edition of The Queue, evoxpisces asked, If each class had its own theme song, what would they be? Or at least what genres would each represent them? Some commenters answered with their opinions, but I didn't read them because I wanted to form my own list without anyone's influence. Druid Boadicea by Enya It is woodsy with a hint of danger. Shaman Down to Earth by Peter Gabriel But I was really tempted by Daniel Radcliffe singing Tom Lehrer's Elements. Death knight Du Hast by Rammstein Too obvious? Mage Boogie Wonderland by Earth, Wind and Fire Mages are quite a bit flashy. In fact, I think the next tier set should be based on the costumes from that video. Warlock Cold by The Cure I guess The Cure was a pretty obvious choice as well. Fire by Arthur Brown was a runner up. Rogue Hide and Seek by Namie Amuro, but only because of the great video Craft of War: Blind, where a rogue really shines. Warrior Birth, School, Work, Death by The Godfathers The perfect workhorse song -- though a bit fatalistic. Hunter Hunter by Dido I just went literal with this one. Paladin Gold by Spandau Ballet because pallies are so shiny. Blood elf paladins get their very own song and video, above. Priest Violet by Hole I can't believe I left priests off the list at first! My apologies. Please still heal me. What do you think of my list? What theme song or genre would you choose for your class or all classes?

  • You could sing the Assassin's Creed: Revelations theme (seriously)

Upon hearing about Ubisoft's singing contest for this November's Assassin's Creed: Revelations launch, we've been furiously putting ink to paper in an effort to cage all of our wild lyrical genius. Apparently, that is all for naught, as the contest doesn't actually seek lyrics to go with our symphonic collective voice, but rather one especially melodious vocalist for non-lyrical singing. Rats! AC: R composer Lorne Balfe and general composer dude Hans Zimmer explain the contest in the video. They are looking for folks to put vocals to the game's theme song (available here), and to then get on Facebook for some Marketing 2.0. After reaching the top 20 "Liked" versions of the theme on Facebook, you'll enter the second round, where a handful of musicians (including Zimmer and Balfe, among others) will pick the creme de la creme. Finally, if you're chosen, you get to record your version of the theme, get credits in the game and the soundtrack, and you'll be "awarded" a prize of $1,000. The only question we have now is this: How much would it cost to pay a professional vocalist to record the theme? Regardless, potential entrants have until 8:00PM PST on September 19 to enter, giving you just under two weeks to get crackin'. So, uh, get crackin'!

  • Daily iPhone App: Baby Monkey (going backwards on a pig)

There's two ways to do this. I could tell you that Baby Monkey is a terrific running game, with a really fun double-jump mechanic, bright and colorful graphics, and the catchiest theme song I've heard all year (the game itself is based on Parry Gripp's song). I could say that it's got full Game Center integration, and is available in the App Store for just 99 cents right now. And I could tell you that it's a must-buy title with lots of fun and replay value. Or, I could just tell you that it's got a baby monkey that rides backwards on a pig. Either way, you should be on your way to the App Store to pick it up right now.

It's ever-so-rare that the things we love on this planet converge as expertly as they do for the song posted after the jump, so let's all take a second to really soak in this moment. Ahhhh. Feels good, right? Once you're done savoring, go listen to the Presidents of the United States of America's latest track, "Can't Stop (Catchin' 'Em All)," a tribute to some of the new collectible creatures in Pokémon Black and White. Sure, it may lack the deeply funky bassline of a "Dune Buggy," or the raw, face-destroying rock of a "Love Everybody" -- but it's still the Presidents, dishing out tips on the latest installment in the Pokémon franchise. It is delight, in its purest form.

A lot of people like music in video games, and for good reason. Today there are some amazing tracks being recorded by professionals and artists for us to listen to as we own noobs, take down mighty dragons, and explore serene vistas. The world of video game composing even has its own fanbase filled with players who pay close attention to who is making the musical score to tomorrow's buzz-worthy game. I have personally clawed around in the dark for months looking for scraps of information on Runes of Magic's soundtrack. Some fragments have been unearthed here and there, but I was finally able to get in touch with the source. Dynamedion is the music production company behind many of the tracks in RoM. It has a number of games listed on its resume, including Halo Legends, Alan Wake, Call of Duty 4 and many more. I nabbed an interview with some of the lead composers to try to get some more information about the music in RoM. Where did the inspiration for these tracks come from? Who worked on them? Did they steal all the music from Bardy Woods? Set your metronome to epic fantasy and click to read on.

  • New Making of Eorzea video sits down with Final Fantasy XIV's composer Uematsu

For many people, Nobuo Uematsu's name is inextricably linked to the Final Fantasy series. And with good cause -- he's one of the people most closely associated with the feel of the series, with several of his compositions having become ubiquitous even within games he didn't score. Having been the sole composer for Final Fantasy XIV, the newest Making of Eorzea video sits down with Uematsu and discusses the experience of composing the full score for the game. While Uematsu estimates it's been about ten years since he was in charge of a full score for a game, there's little argument to be had about his suitability for the job. He discusses both the scope of the project and his experiences in composing such memorable tracks as the theme song -- which, in his own words, was sung by Susan Calloway at his own insistence. See more about the music of Final Fantasy XIV in the video, embedded after the cut.

  • Hello Kitty Online releases new trailer and theme song

Hello Kitty Online, the excruciatingly cute free-to-play MMO from Aeria Games, has a catchy new theme song and trailer video sure to get stuck in the heads of little girls worldwide (and probably their mothers, who were around when Hello Kitty was cool the first time.) "The World Is Saying Hello" trailer gives a tour of the game, visiting some of the different areas such as the Sunbright Express train station. So what about that earworm of a song? Well, it's Hello Kitty Online's new theme song, and what you hear in the trailer is only part of it. To get the full version, you have to go play the game. The full song can be heard at one of the places featured in the trailer, so head over to Sanriotown and good luck tracking the full song down! For now, enjoy the video trailer after the jump.

So I broke out the old movie soundtracks for my listening pleasure while doing some writing this weekend, and one track struck me as especially awesome: Tarawa, from Snow Falling on Cedars. The music is especially swelling and epic. The type that makes it hard to, you know, sit still and write. So I ended up lost in my imagination instead. I couldn't help but imagine my Death Knight striding into Icecrown Glacier accompanied by the music, striking down scourge left and right, then raising their corpses under his own command to leap upon groups of unsuspecting cultists and gnaw their faces off. The climax, I think, would be a one on one fight with a massive, super-powerful abomination. We're talking Blizzard cinematic quality mano-a-flesh-golem blade-on-oversized-meat-cleaver action here.

  • One-man band covers Wind Waker theme

If we wrote about every fan-made cover of Nintendo theme songs that slid across our desks inboxes, we'd find ourselves with little time to write about all the hard-hitting news that you crave. However, we think it would be irresponsible to not pass along this incredible rendition of the opening theme to Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, largely due to the fact that its exponentially better than the original. The acoustic cover, which is posted after the break, was performed by YouTube composer Fredrik Larsson -- and only YouTube composer Fredrik Larsson. Through the magic of non-linear editing, Freddy pools his musical talents to piece together an incredible tribute to one of Nintendo's unsung themes. We suggest having Link's oceanic adventure on-hand should you decide to check the video out -- trust us, you'll feel compelled to revisit it.[Thanks, Chris.]

Halo fanboy at heart, Chris Orgeron and his band created what they thought Halo 3's theme song should sound like. It's a lot more heavy on the rock side of things, but still incorporates the original Halo theme song feel featuring the "druid-like" moaning. Second thought, it seems to hit more onto Halo 2's mood with guitar in full force. Give it a listen and tell us what you think. Or are you a purist and think Bungie should just go back to an old school Halo theme song feel?

Ok everybody, we have the winner for the fourth Zune on Engadget -- Taylor S guessed the correct number of Zune stories we published last month (18), congrats! Thanks again to everyone who entered, and the good news is you've got one last shot at a Zune, which, as you may or may not have heard (and we do sincerely hope you fall in the first camp), is Microsoft's new vertically integrated portable media player device (and platform) centered around "connected entertainment." You should know by now where to go for all the specs and details, but it's a 30GB portable media device with built-in WiFi for sharing music with your pals and interacting with media on the go. Engadget's hooking up a few very lucky people with a Zune. Want to be the first among your friends -- hell, among the first ever -- to get one? We're giving away one Zune per week for five weeks; snagging one will get progressively more difficult, and since this is our last Zune giveaway contest, you're gonna have to work for it a bit. This one's going to the person (or group) that writes the best Engadget theme song. We're looking for the catchiest tune or jingle about Engadget, with words or without -- but it should be fun (or funny), decently well produced, and capture the spirit of Engadget. (Note: we may use your tune on the Podcast or at our events -- with credit, of course!) When you're all done send it in to zunecontest at engadget dawt com (please, no entries over 10MB or they'll bounce.) Have your entries in by 11:59PM EST Sunday, the 29th to be eligible. Engadget's editors will select the track that takes home the prize. As always, please mind the rules! You may enter other Engadget contests, however... You may only enter this contest once; if you enter more than once on this particular contest post you'll be automatically disqualified and barred from all future giveaways. (Yes, we have robots that thoroughly check to ensure fairness.) You may enter future Engadget relaunch giveaway contests though! You can only win once. (If you win and then try to go for a second prize during our relaunch giveaways, you'll be automatically disqualified, etc.) This contest is open to the US only -- sorry, Microsoft's rules! You will be shipped your Zune when Microsoft ships you your Zune (and no sooner), so sit tight, it might be some weeks before it comes! Good luck, and be sure you've entered our other contests, as well! Win a VidaBox SLIM for the best Halloween costume! Are you in Chicago tonight for the big PLAY! concert tomorrow, but weren't willing to shell out $125 for the VIP meet-and-greet at the event? Well, you might be in luck (even if you're not attending), as a few famous folks from the concert will be on hand to sign autographs in Chicago proper for free tonight. From 7 to 9 PM (presumably Central time) at the Tower Records store on 2301 N. Clark St., Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu, bilingual songstress Angela Aki (who wrote and sang the theme song for FFXII), and Principal Conductor and Music Director of PLAY! Arnie Roth will be signing autographs to promote the world-tour premiere of 'PLAY! A Video Game Symphony' and the CD for More Friends - Music from FINAL FANTASY.While this blogger is sadly occupied with prior engagements tonight, gamers in the area are more than welcome to mob that Tower Records and cause the store's employees much consternation and bewilderment. If you don't have any imported CDs to sign, however, don't fret: the store's web site claims to have "some awesome Japanese imports available for you to purchase and have autographed at the event." Not only that, Angela Aki will be performing live as well. Score! Anybody wanna tell us how this evening turns out when it's all sung and done?[Via The Daily Northwestern; image culled from Angela Aki's blog, Nobuo Uematsu's Squenix profile, and Arnie Roth's 2005 interview with IGN]See also: Official page for Tower Clark Street (with details on the signing) Ticketmaster site for the PLAY! concert debut tomorrow Sonic and Chrono composers to join PLAY! in Chicago
