EA is offering refunds to customers of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters on PC, Eurogamer reports. While the PC version released this week, shares a name with the console versions released five months ago, it's quite a bit different than on 360 and PS3. And by "different' we mean "worse." The retail PC Tiger Woods 12, is specifically lacking in graphics and features, using the browser-based Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online for its multiplayer mode. You can read more about the problem on the EA forums and Reddit which both dig deeper into the specific issues. Those experiencing a lack of satisfaction with the product are recommended to putt on over to EA Support.

  • Tiger Woods makes a gradual Move into a hardware bundle

If you don't have a PlayStation Move yet, but desire one primarily for its function as a semi-imaginary golf club, good news! Sony is offering a bundle with a Move wand, a PlayStation Eye, and a copy of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters. It'll be out next week for $99.99. The bundle of a popular Move-enhanced sports game and the hardware seems pretty natural to us, but the timing of this bundle is somewhat less natural: Tiger Woods 12 actually came out in March. We're not used to seeing new hardware bundles for random already-released games. Perhaps this one got stuck in a sand trap, much like this post has become mired in a forced golf metaphor.

Andrew Wilson, president of worldwide development for EA Sports, told Joystiq today that the caddy feature in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters was "well received" and destined to return in the franchise's next installment. As you may know, this is a decision we wholeheartedly support.

Amazon is getting started on its Father's Day celebration early, with the first of three week-long video game sales in honor of "Dads and grads." That website's dad is really important to it, we suppose -- he helped Amazon.com develop a strong sense of right and wrong, and provided the encouragement it needed to grow up and be a successful website -- and made just the best chili. The first sale, running through June 4, discounts a bunch of Wii games and accessories, heavily focused on EA Sports stuff, like NBA Jam for $20 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 The Masters for $30. Next week, from June 5 through June 11, Amazon will offer "Handheld Deals," followed by "Next Generation Console & PC Deals" on June 12-18.

  • Zumba keeps on dancing atop UK charts

Zumba Fitness, which recently launched on Wii, has been working out in the top spot on the UK sales charts for a second week. With Zumba Fitness on the lips (and working those hips) of the populace, the Xbox 360 version also saw a 14 percent sales increase. Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars and Crysis 2 dueled for second, but ultimately the multiplatform blockheads used The Force to push the billion-dollar nanosuit down into third. Chart-Track notes that the upcoming Easter holiday spurred plenty of retailer sales, which likely contributed to strong sales increases of Call of Duty: Black Ops (+62%, #9), Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (+112%, #11) and Red Dead Redemption (+458%, #13). Head past the break for the top ten.

  • Zumba Fitness overtakes Crysis 2 for top UK sales spot

Zumba Fitness and Crysis 2 both moved significantly less product last week in the UK. With only 500 copies separating the two the prior week, the 57 percent drop by Crysis 2 and the 47 percent decline by Zumba Fitness meant the latter took the lead. It seems that "winning" the sales chart last week was all about having the lowest decline in sales, as almost every game in the top six saw a 40-something percent drop (Chart-Track speculates it was the UK's warm weather). This led to Lego Star Wars 3: The Clone Wars forcing itself to maintain third place, while Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters climbed up two spots into fourth and Shift 2: Unleashed decelerated into fifth. Tecmo-Koei's Dynasty Warriors 7 was the only new entry in the Top 40, button-mashing itself all the way up to tenth place. Observe the UK top ten after the break.

Many of EA's for iPhone and iPod touch are discounted this weekend. All the titles are $5 or less, with SimCity and Simpsons being only $1.

  • Tiger Woods 12 features improved PlayStation Move functionality

The PS3 version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters supports the PlayStation Move, though the functionality is greatly improved over last year. EA has not only improved the sensitivity of the swing itself, but added in the first-person True-Aim system seen in last year's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 on the Wii. Now, because my review focuses so much on the caddy (and because the PlayStation Move arrived very late from Sony), Move didn't make it in before deadline. However, that added time to mess around with the mechanic has proven to me that the PS3 version is far more sensitive to slight swing variations and wrist movement, which makes the learning curve a bit steeper. Still, after only an hour, my proficiency increased. And because the Move is so sensitive, it was a lot easier for me to gauge how much power I was putting into a swing compared to using an analog stick. Combined with the graphical fidelity of the PS3 version, I can say without a doubt that PlayStation Move makes Tiger Woods on the PS3 the preferred version.

Sitting here, staring at a screen of accomplishments in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters, I can't help but think what a long, crazy journey it's been. I went from a nobody with barely a shot on the amateur tour to the highest level of the game, The Masters. I surprised a lot of people, including a few of my idols. Not that I was alone on this journey. The entire time, I had a secret weapon: the best caddy in the biz. I can't tell you his name, but he came into my life and changed it forever. He taught me things I never would have suspected about the game and we both developed our skills, together, spanning a career that would become the greatest the sport has ever seen. I'm still not sure he knows my name. %Gallery-112499%

EA is letting the caddy loose in a new demo for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters, available for download now on your Xbox 360, after being released on PSN last night as part of the weekly update. The new feature will play a big role in EA's latest outing, equaled only by the inclusion of The Masters and its strictly-guarded courses, now open for admission to the virtual public. The demo itself also has a unique feature: XP earned is transferable to the retail game. So if you like what you see (and play), you can make sure your time out on the course isn't a waste.

According to Game Hunters, a PS3 and Xbox 360 demo for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters should arrive on March 8. The demo will include the first five holes of the TPC San Antonio Oaks course and will also confer a few bonuses on the retail version of Tiger 12, notably that completing the demo will allow players to skip the EA Sports Amateur Tour and proceed directly to the Nationwide Tour. Players will also earn extra experience points for sharing the demo online.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters doesn't just add the titular tournament of masters -- for the first time, caddies will feature in EA Sports' golf sim. The club-toting sidekicks have been introduced in an effort to make the game more accessible to players that don't know much about real golf (let alone the great luxury of a personal sidekick). %Gallery-112499%

  • 'And my club!' Rhys Davies signed for PGA Tour 12

EA announced today that it has signed Rhys Davies for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters. How awesome is that? The actor, who we've enjoyed as Gimli in the Lord of the Rings, along with memorable performances in Sliders and Indiana Jones, would likely be doing something like voiceovers for the game. Oh, wait, wrong guy. He'll actually serve as "brand ambassador " He, meaning Rhys Davies the golfer, not John Rhys-Davies the actor. That hyphen makes all the difference. "We're extremely excited to be partnering with Rhys Davies. He had an exceptional rookie year on the European Tour in 2010 and is sure to achieve even greater success in 2011," said Shaun White, senior PR manager at EA Sports. And here we thought Shaun White was over at Ubisoft.

EA's John Riccitiello recently reiterated his company's willingness to stick by Tiger Woods, and the announcement of the latest iteration of EA Sports's annual golf franchise shows that, mostly. For example, the new game still bears his name: Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters. But on the cover, Woods is de-emphasized in favor of another well-known name in golf, one who is unlikely to get itself into scandalous situations: the Masters Tournament. EA used "state of the art laser scanning technology" to replicate the course at Augusta National Golf Club for the tournament's PGA Tour series debut. You'll be able to replay "Masters Moments" -- memorable events from past tournaments -- as well as the "Tiger at the Masters" mode, which allows you to play through Woods' four Masters wins by attempting to match or beat his scores from those winning tournaments. If you prefer a fictional golfer, you can play the new Career Mode and raise an amateur through the PGA ranks. Other features include a virtual caddie to dispense advice (and virtual clubs), and new playable golfers including Zach Johnson and Bubba Watson. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters will be released on PS3 (with Move support), Xbox 360, and Wii on March 29 in North America, and "worldwide" April 1. A $70 collector's edition will be released on PS3, which includes five additional courses. Update: EA Sports president Peter Moore spoke to Eurogamer about the new cover and Woods' place in the series. Find quotes after the break. %Gallery-112499%%Gallery-112501%
