When we say this chap was trapped in the toilet, we don't mean he was stuck in the bathroom, he literally jammed his arm down the porcelain-encased pipe. The poor gentleman from Jiangsu Province in China was clearly in desperate need of his cellphone, as not even the typically repugnant idea of diving down for it was enough to prevent him from trying to chase the thing down. Good news is that emergency services rescued him with only minor cuts and bruises to his arm, though we suspect the injury to his ego will take a long, long time to heal. [Thanks, Adiwidya]

It turns out that being trapped in a mine in Chile is only one of the many problems associated with being trapped in a mine in Chile. The mental well-being of the victims looks to be just as important as the rescue mission itself: a small village of miners' family members has sprung up around the mine, offering moral support and preparing food to send down, and NASA psychologists have been offering their advice on the miners' sleep-wake cycles. A few PSPs made their way down the shaft as well. Today, they even got a soccer fix as they watched their team play the Ukraine via a projector lowered down to their safety chamber on a fiber optic cable (Chile lost 2 - 1). While we're not sure which heroic projector model descended 2,300 feet below the earth's surface, we're just happy that some tech could brighten these guys' day just a little bit -- especially considering they could be in there for up to four more months. This little kid is on to those scammy claw machines, and decided to take prize collection into his own hands. Unfortunately, he didn't plan that escape route well enough, and ended up stuck among the machine's bountiful goodies. Words of him meeting a claw-worshiping alien cult, followed by wild 3D hijinks set to the musical stylings of Randy Newman are totally unfounded. Video is after the break.[Via Tech Digest]
