If your child is a big Lord of the Rings fan, they might be a little crestfallen. Warner Bros. has pulled both Lego: Lord of the Rings and Lego: The Hobbit from digital stores, including Steam. The company told Kotaku that you could still download them if you'd already purchased copies, but newcomers will have to track down physical copies or go without.

Was that super-quick teaser trailer not enough to satisfy your need for all-things LEGO Batman? Well, like the Dark Knight himself, GamesIndustry.biz has swooped in to provide a few concrete facts about the fearsome superhero's adorable LEGO-themed title.Using the same optional cooperative gameplay system as the LEGO Star Wars games, LEGO Batman will allow players to play as either Batman or Robin, with one friend able to join in the crime-fighting mayhem -- no four-player co-op this time around, it seems.Villains such as the Joker and Penguin will appear, as Batman and Robin explore Gotham City. Vehicle construction will also return from the LEGO Star Wars series. We're still dying for more details, but with the game's release around a year away, there's still plenty of time for new details to surface.

OK, we're going to warn up front before you cl- ... you already clicked on it, didn't you? Well, as you've probably already seen, there's not a whole lot to absorb in this brief Lego Batman teaser. But its definitely worth watching, especially considering how little time you'll be investing into the process. It also gives us a look at exactly which systems the game will be released for. (Answer: All.)No, it's not gameplay, but how about when he slips his hands on like they're his gloves? ADORABLE. We keep getting more excited about Lego Batman, even if five pieces of conjoined plastic are the least believable Dark Knight ever ... except for George Clooney, of course.

We love it when news stories actually leave us more confused than when we began. Take, for instance, IGN's nugget that Jonathan Smith, head of production at Traveller's Tales, recently let fly with a few details about Lego Batman during a public unveiling of Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga.IGN said Smith related that "Batman villains Nighthawk and Man-Bat are among the denizens of Gotham City who'll make it into the game." We'll let the fanboys froth for a sentence while we explain to the rest of you why that's so odd. ... As far as we know, there is no Batman villain named Nighthawk. Now, if we can geek out on you for a moment, there is a Nighthawk who's a cowboy who's appeared in a couple of Robin annuals. There's also Nightwing, a moniker used by (among others) Dick Grayson, after he got too old for the Robin gig. There's also a third possibility of Nighthawk being a new creation, but with such a deep rogue's gallery to draw on, that seems kind of pointless. We've emailed IGN for clarification, hopefully we'll have something soon.

  • Joystiq impressions: Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (DS)

LucasArts recently showed off the in-development DS version of Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. The company tried to remain positive -- or at the very least, civil -- about the previous DS bomb, Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. But this showing was clearly to prove to journalists that the DS version of the new game won't follow the murky fate of its predecessor. Lego Star Wars creator, Traveller's Tales redeveloped the game for the DS instead of re-using the old DS engine, and it shows. The new game more closely resembles LSW on other consoles. In my brief play session, I was impressed with the top-screen 3D graphics; LSW Complete could be the graphical leader for 3D DS games with its November 6 launch.%Gallery-7861%

Considering it has a transforming 360, it's no surprise that Transformers the movie will serve as inspiration for Transformers The Game. Activision has made a new fact sheet available for the game, revealing its features and platforms. The game is set to hit every console known to man, including our beloved 360. The game is being developed by Traveller's Tales, who recently made a splash with the LEGO Star Wars games. Transformers The Game will feature both Autobot and Decepticon campaigns, allowing players to choose good or evil, respectively. Player characters will be able to transform on the fly, offering various combat options. The environments are destructible and can also be used as weapons during combat. The fact sheet also mentions "head-to-head" battles though it is unclear if this refers to multiplayer or not. The game promises a huge lineup of playable characters including Optimus Prime, Megatron, Ironhide, Bumblebee, Barricade, and our personal favorite, Starscream.Transformers The Game is currently scheduled for a summer 2007 release.[Via 360 Arcadians]
