Trivial Pursuit is a game that I grew up playing with friends and family, so I've always had a fondness for it. It was born in 1979 in the wilds of Canada, and it made its way down to the United States in the early 80's. Over the years there have been a number of question sets and versions of the game. Star Wars, Saturday Night Live, and Lord of the Rings all lay claim to a version of Trivial Pursuit. Personally, I think it's long overdue that we get a World of Warcraft version of the game. I had the pleasure of going through and playing World of Warcraft Trivial Pursuit this weekend with my regular table top gaming group. We are a group of current and former players that range from everything from hard core raiders to lore addicts. It just seemed like a good idea to get together and put the game through its paces.

A few weeks ago, Blizzard announced that they were releasing a Warcraft-themed version of Trivial Pursuit. If you've been chomping at the bit to get your hands on it, you need chomp no longer! The game is now available for purchase on Amazon. With no reviews showing just yet, it's a little hard to get a sense of the game's quirks and unique touches, however according to the description it does boast baby murloc game pieces. Baby murloc game pieces!. Thanks to several of our intrepid readers for bringing the game's availability to our attention!

  • World of Warcraft Trivial Pursuit coming soon

Think you know WoW inside out? Well prove it! The World of Warcraft version of Trivial Pursuit, the popular wedge-based trivia game, is due to release soon. And we're not even talking Blizzard soon -- it should be coming to a shop near you this month. The Blizzard blog on the upcoming game asserts that the six categories will be Geography, Player Characters, Lore, Loot, Villains, and Encounters, with one wedge color allocated to each. Players will move around a themed board, playing with specially hand-made Murloc dice, and piloting baby murloc movers. So what do you think the questions might be? What would you ask? WoW Insider reported back in February that the game's release was coming, and even that questions might come from fans at some point, so who knows, if you submitted a question maybe it was included! I will almost certainly be terrible at this game, but I will likely get a copy for geeking out at guild meet-ups, and maybe for quizzing my friends during raid downtime!

Our friends over at BlizzPlanet have discovered a new addition to the World of Warcraft official merchandise range: World of Warcraft Trivial Pursuit! The guys over at BlizzPlanet were lucky enough to visit the 2013 toys fair in New York to check out the game, but alas the board was not yet ready. They were, however, able to find out that the artwork and all other aspects of the game board are being developed internally by the Blizzard art team. WoW Insider thinks that this is a fantastic addition. With the popularity of quiz addons in-game and WoW's lengthy past, both in terms of lore and the lifetime of the franchise, this latest addition to the merchandise line has to be a sure-fire success. Even more excitingly, Blizzplanet reports that "A still undetermined ratio of questions will come directly from fans at some point." So, not only will there be a new way to test out your WoW knowledge with friends, but you can contribute your own question, too. It is not yet clear just how you will go about doing that, but WoW Insider will keep you updated with any new information.

One of the more convenient (and pricey) methods for games acquisition -- Microsoft's Games on Demand service -- has just added a pair of new titles to its North American library: Disney's Bolt and EA's Trivial Pursuit. Each can be yours for $19.99, granted you have the respective 5GB and 2GB of space for each. Prices and availability vary by region, but the insatiable, shameless desire for Achievements that would drive you to actually purchase these games is universal. Major Nelson of the clan Hryb sends word that free DLC is available on XBLM for three very different types of games. Trivial Pursuit: Hundreds of new questions for movie buffs. Tomb Raider: Underworld: Designer costume pack, created by designers and voted for by Tomb Raider fans. F.E.A.R. 2: "Toy Soldiers" Map Pack, where players are inches tall and battle in a "pinball machine, a hospital lab room, and a playground sandbox." OK, that actually sounds cool. Go ahead, grab those and get to thinking, dressing and killing.

  • Trivial Pursuit to allow safer family get-togethers starting March 10

If you've had the extreme misfortune to attend a social gathering in which some unsavory individual busts out the unsinister-looking Trivial Pursuit board game, then you're well aware of the destructive properties that lie within that accursed box. It starts out harmless enough, but as your hollow pies continue their endless revolution around the rainbow-toned board, tempers inevitably flare. Razor-sharp question cards are flung across the table at frightening speeds. Dice are swallowed out of protest. Wedges become irrevocably lodged within eye sockets.Fortunately, EA Hasbro will bring the game to a less tangible -- and therefore, less perilous -- format on March 10 for all the major home consoles. Wii, PS3 and 360 owners can pick it up for the reasonable price of $39.99, while PS2 owners can grab it for $29.99. It'll include a few interest-piquing gametypes, including Classic mode, a single-player mode titled "Clear the Board," and a casual, speedy "Facts & Friends" mode. Best of all, it seems the "Awkward Trip to the Emergency Room" mode has finally been removed. Huzzah!

  • Trivial Pursuit hitting PS3 in March ... for $40

It's no surprise we like casual games. It's hard to resist the bite-sized charms of downloadable pick-up-and-play games like PixelJunk Monsters. Sure, these games don't feature the most advanced 3D graphics, but at $10, we're ready to bite.Trivial Pursuit also sounds like a great PlayStation Network game. The problem is? It's not. EA will be releasing this game on Blu-ray and it'll retail for $40 in March. For some reason, it seems strange to pay more for a digital version of this classic board game. It is, however, cheaper than the alternative -- Buzz! Quiz TV, which retails for $60 (but includes four wireless buzzers).[Via WorthPlaying]

  • EA to bring Hasbro to your DS

For those of you who find themselves enjoying board games, but would like considerable less board in there, know that EA has announced that several Hasbro properties will be turned into games by the publishing powerhouse. No longer will your games of Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit be confined to the Monday night get-together at your neighbor's house, as you'll soon be able to enjoy these games without your "friends."The titles currently in the works are: Littlest Pet Shop (DS, Wii, PC) - fall NERF "N-Strike" (Wii, DS) - fall Looking over the rest of the list for titles releasing on mobile phones and to EA's online POGO portal, we're wondering why the DS is getting the shaft. Monopoly, Yahtzee and Scrabble are all releasing on mobile phones and via POGO, but where's the DS love? All we get are these two games? We hope this changes ...[Via Joystiq]

  • EA announces intial batch of Hasbro games, G.I. Joe sadly absent

Electronic Arts has sewn up the rights to deliver games based on numerous Hasbro properties, though before you get too excited in hopes that you'll soon be revisiting your past and playing games based on G.I. Joe, we should note that of this "initial slate" of brands singled out by the companies not one packs a 'kung fu grip.' EA calls these games "new ways for families to build relationships through digital entertainment," which of course means we'll be seeing at least some of these games crop up on the Wii. In fact, the first titles from the deal confirmed for both the Wii and DS include games based on Littlest Pet Shop and NERF "N-Strike," both of which are being put together by EA's Salt Lake Studio. Last year EA inked a deal with Hasbro for rights to make games based on the seemingly innocent but often cutthroat board game Monopoly, and players will be able to edge their way out of (and into) virtual bankruptcy come March for mobile phones and later in the fall over EA's casual POGO portal for the PC. Other brands in the works as part of this new deal include Scrabble, Operation, and Trivial Pursuit, meaning that in the not to distant future we could be once again partying like it's Christmas 1980.
