Okay, so that November release didn't happen. And then December slipped by. But Seed Studios was just biding its time, waiting for the perfect strategic opportunity to spring its Move-friendly RTS, Under Siege, upon unsuspecting PS3 users, and it turns out that time is May 3. As a show of gratitude for the patience of fans, Seed Studios released a free Under Siege comic book, which should help provide some background about the team of Eirik, Kari and Asgeir, the fantasy world they occupy, and why they are currently besieged. You can download that here in eBook, CBZ, or PDF format, in Portuguese or English.

Under Siege may have missed its planned November release, but at least it's one step closer to actually coming out. The PlayStation Move-enabled RTS will be available later this month for $19.99 (£11.99 in the UK and €14.99 elsewhere). Developer Seed Studios' Filipe Pina explained the delay on the game's official Facebook page: "360,000 lines of code and almost 10,000 files can sometimes be tricky to handle." Given the game's two year development time, a few more weeks of work certainly seems like a drop in the bucket. Under Siege has some rather lofty ambitions, utilizing nearly every feature available on the PS3: Move support, a level editor, online and split-screen multiplayer, XMB screenshots, and YouTube video recording. On top of that, Seed hired the team behind Killzone 2's intro to make the game's almost-unnecessarily impressive intro, which you can watch after the break.

While this post is here primarily to inform you that Seed Studios has announced that its Move-supported fantasy RTS, Under Siege, will hit PSN on November 3, I must confess I had ulterior motives in writing it. It seems that my Joystiq compatriots have missed every single opportunity to use Under Siege news as an excuse to post a Steven Seagal joke. That oversight has now been rectified. Thanks, Richard Mitchell Contributing Editor, Joystiq.com P.S. For more information on Mr. Seagal and his legendary career, visit Seagalology.com, the web's premiere repository of all things Seagal. Update: Seed Studios has informed Joystiq that the release date has shifted to a more nebulous "November." The real purpose of this post still stands.

Retail titles aren't the only games taking advantage of PlayStation Move. One of the first third-party games to utilize the controller is PSN-exclusive RTS Under Siege.

Seed Studios has clearly missed its Spring release for Under Siege, a PSN-exclusive RTS. Most likely, the team is attempting to take advantage of the PlayStation Move's release. (The RTS is a perfect fit for the Move controller!) In the meantime, two new videos have surfaced on the game's official website: first up is a video of the familiar-looking gameplay; next up, is the rather robust level editor. Considering this is a PSN game, the production values look rather terrific.%Gallery-99524%

  • Under Siege bumped to Spring 2010, adds motion controller support

Apparently, Seed Studios was intrigued by the PlayStation Motion Controller demo that was shown off during E3 -- particularly the part that showed how the peripheral could be used in a real-time strategy game. The developer recently announced that the release of its upcoming PSN strategy title Under Siege had been bumped to Spring 2010 in order to incorporate the sphere-tipped device into the game's control scheme. Seed will also be working to add a few more features to the game before its dealyed launch, including a replay editor, photo mode, and picture-in-picture video chat. That last part is unfortunate -- as with all methods of motion control, we don't really want to circulate footage of us flailing about with a colorful wand grasped in our oafish claws. %Gallery-43637%

  • PSN-exclusive Under Siege built entirely with in-game editor

We haven't heard much from Under Siege in quite some time. The real time strategy game may be a download-only game, but that's not stopping the development team from implementing a LBP-esque level editor. To ensure the in-game editor works as well as it should, the team has created the entire game using the tool. "Having built all our levels using a PS3 controller led to constant improvements in both the interface and the control scheme so that our level artists wouldn't feel constrained by the input device," the development blog notes. With the release of the game's first trailer (above), it's clear Under Siege is getting closer to release. Expect much more on it in the coming months.[Thanks, Marcus N.!]%Gallery-43637%

Click for high-resolution image. When Under Siege was unveiled late last year, we knew absolutely nothing about it. In fact, the only thing we did know was that it was exclusive to the PS3.Developer Seed Studios has finally lifted the curtain off the game, revealing Under Siege as an "action strategy" game planned for the PlayStation Store in Fall 2009. The game will support single player, competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes, and best of all -- it will also include a level editor so players can share user-generated content. The first batch of alpha-build screenshots look quite good, especially considering this will be a downloadable title. We're going to keep our eyes on this one.%Gallery-43637%

Seed Studios was supposed to reveal a PS3 exclusive game at Leipzig Games Convention earlier this year. It didn't happen. However, their official site now reveals the name of their upcoming game: Under Siege. We have no idea what this game is about, or what it'll even look like. All we know is that it'll be on the PS3, and only on the PS3. You can take a look at the official site, but don't expect to find out much more. When we get our hands on any new information, you'll be sure to find out.[Thanks, Patriotbball5460!]

  • Blast from the Past: Under Siege 2

Casey Ryback, Steven Segal's character in Under Siege, never had it easy but he had great toys. Sure, he was "just the cook" but apparently SEAL cooks have access to some amazing gadgets. Like special communicators, explosives and Miss July. Under Siege was so successful, the filmmakers decided to create a sequel, Under Siege 2, which takes place on a train with his niece (that actress from Roswell and Grey's Anatomy) and a Newton. No, really! Not kidding here. Behold the glory that is Newton in Under Siege 2.Update: My bad. This seems to be a repeat of a post from before my time here at TUAW. If you have a great (but non-repeat!) idea for Blast from the Past, drop us a note via our Tip form.
