  • TUAW TV Live: Grab your iPhone camera and go

Welcome back to another episode of TUAW TV Live. Today I'll be covering a favorite topic -- iPhone photography -- and going into detail on the apps and accessories that I use to take iPhone photos that are hopefully more than just snapshots. I always appreciate the tips and ideas from the chatroom participants, so be sure to join in on the fun. Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. If you're driving somewhere and would like to watch TUAW TV Live while you're stuck in traffic, please don't -- keep your eyes on the road! However, if someone else is doing the driving, you can watch the show on your iPhone and join the chat by downloading the free Ustream App. It's a universal app and is wonderful on an iPad, both for viewing and participating in the chat. In addition, the live stream and chat will be available through our Facebook page. Just point your browser here to watch the show and chat with other viewers while you're on Facebook. We'll start at about 5 PM ET, so if you're seeing a prerecorded show, be sure to refresh your browser until you see the live stream. For those of you who are not able to join us for the live edition, you'll be able to view it later this evening on our TUAW Video YouTube channel and as part of the TUAW TV Live podcast viewable in iTunes or on any of your Apple devices.

  • TUAW TV Live at 5 PM EDT: Using the best camera

Back in 2009, professional photographer Chase Jarvis coined the phrase "The best camera is the one that's with you" in reference to his work with the iPhone's built-in camera. His book, app, and website inspired a lot of other photographers to start doing more professional work with iPhones, and for the amateurs in the crowd, he gave us a reason to experiment more with iPhoneography. I've done a few TUAW TV Live shows focused (no pun intended) on photography with the iPhone, and today we'll explore more apps and accessories to help you get the best possible photographs and video from your favorite phone. As usual, I'll be starting the show at 5 PM EDT (2 PM PDT / 10 PM BST) sharp, and we'll take a few minutes to chat before the demos start. To join in on the chat and watch the live streaming video, drop by TUAW about five minutes before the start time to get your instructions on how to participate. If you're unable to join us for the show, remember that you can always subscribe to the video podcast and watch the show at your leisure in iTunes or any other favorite podcatching app. The past shows are also available on the TUAW YouTube channel. The chat is on IRC: join us on server chat1.ustream.tv, chat room #tuaw-tv.

  • TUAW TV Live: Now with fewer ads, more Steve and Victor

I'm happy to announce that we won't be moving from Ustream to YouTube, at least not for the foreseeable future. Ustream will now show one advertisement at the beginning of the stream and there will be no further interruptions to your viewing pleasure. In addition, the live stream and chat will be available through our Facebook page. Just point your browser here to watch the show and chat with other viewers while you're on Facebook. Victor Agreda, Jr., the editor-in-chief of TUAW, is my guest today on TUAW TV Live. Possible topics for today include AT&T's nasty "be glad that we let you run built-in apps on your iPhone" response to people's concerns about the company's FaceTime over cellular plans, a look at some new items that have popped into the TUAW Labs, and a glance at perhaps the sweetest iPad case ever. Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. You'll be watching the show in glorious HD! • TUAW TV Live: Dog day demos

It's still hotter than the blazes here in Colorado, but there are starting to be some signs of cooler days ahead. But while the heat is still set on "high", I'll take the opportunity to show you some cool things that have come out of the minds of developers and manufacturers around the world. I'd also like to take a quick poll of our viewers today (see poll below). Many of you are tired of the parade of interruptions from Ustream ads, although those ads are what enable us to broadcast for free. We have used YouTube before; their ads seem to be much less obtrusive and annoying. There's only one problem -- some viewers in European countries, Germany in particular, cannot watch the live stream without coming in through some sort of proxy. So the poll question is this -- should TUAW TV Live move to YouTube or stay on Ustream? %Poll-77137% And now on with the show! Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. You'll be watching the show in glorious HD! • TUAW TV Live: Bloggers talk about blogging tools

Good morning, afternoon, or evening, depending on what part of the world you're coming in from! Today we're going to be talking about blogging tools on TUAW TV Live. I consider personal journals to be a kind of self-blog, so those tools will be covered as well. Of course, I can't use every blogging app out there, so I'm looking forward to hearing what the denizens of the chat room have to share. I'll also have a special guest on the show today -- former Cylon sensation Mike Rose. Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. You'll be watching the show in glorious HD! Based on a suggestion from Doc Rock last week, I'll be "chirping" URLs for applications and sites discussed during the show using the Chirp app. To receive the chirps, download and install the app on your iPhone by clicking the icon below. • Watch NASA's Curiosity rover touch down on Mars, live at 1:30AM EDT

You watched the launch, bit your nails over computer simulations and even played the game, and it all comes down to today: NASA's Curiosity rover is about to land on Mars. The $2.5 billion vehicle has been en route to the red planet for eight months, and in a few short hours will spend seven terrifying minutes blindly making its way to the Martian surface -- only to make NASA scientists wait another full seven before reporting on its success or failure. The rover is flying solo. That doesn't mean we can't be there in spirit, however: NASA TV will be broadcasting the event on Ustream, offering commentary from the minds behind the rover, as well as audio from mission control. The Curiosity Cam, which runs from 11:30PM until 2:00AM EDT and 3:30AM to 4:30AM EDT, will offer commentary from the scientists and engineers behind Curiosity, while a second feed (at NASA JPL Live, which runs from 11:30PM onward) will play audio from mission control. If all goes to plan, NASA will be able to share an image from Curiosity's navigation cameras, confirming its safe arrival on the Martian surface. Sounds like a hell of a show to us. Read on to view the Curiosity Cam right here or check out the source links below to prep your evening (or early morning) viewing for yourself. Let us know your own thoughts on Curiosity's landing in the comments. Update: Touchdown confirmed! The entire sequence went perfectly to plan, and rover Curiosity is now on the surface of Mars and sending telemetry data. Update: NASA's press conference is now happening live.

  • TUAW TV Live: Doc and Steve judge the Apple gymnastics team

OK, not really. But I had to think of something that brought the 2012 Olympics into focus. How about those Team USA women gymnasts?! Guest star Doc Rock and I will be discussing Apple (duh!), Olympics apps, new accessories from a variety of manufacturers, and anything else that happens to come to mind. • TUAW TV Live: The pursuit of happiness (and gadgets)

Last week's show was canceled due to the Independence Day holiday and my need for a vacation, so this week I'm ready to start the second half of the TUAW TV year with an unboxing frenzy the likes of which the world has never seen. Yeah, there's stuff all over the place, and what better way to start off the show than to demo a literal pile of new products? I also have some apps I'll be demoing, as usual, but I think most of my time will be spent chatting with the peanut gallery. Below, you'll find a Ustream livestream viewer and a chat tool. The chat tool allows you to participate by asking questions or making comments. You can also choose to watch the show on Justin.tv if you wish, by visiting our portal at http://justin.tv/tuawtvlive. • Watch Nintendo's pre-E3 Wii U briefing right here

Nintendo cares not for your meaningless "parameters," E3. It's starting the big show early this afternoon at 6PM ET with a special Nintendo Direct presentation starring none other than Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. The presentation is focusing on "the vision behind the Wii U," according to Nintendo's Twitter account. Set your expectations accordingly, as Nintendo also said, "No Wii U game info until Tues," referencing the company's Tuesday, June 5 presser.Should you be in an area that prohibits streaming video, we'll be breaking out news alongside the presentation, and our friends at Engadget have a liveblog going, if that's your kinda thing.

  • Hauppauge announces StreamEez to broadcast live HD video

Hauppauge, not satisfied with only bringing DVR-like functions to the Broadway this week -- has unleashed a new box called the StreamEez that links your HD video camera to your computer for live broadcasts. HDMI or component video hook it up on the cam side, USB on the computer side. It uses H.264 video compression and is compatible with sites like USTREAM that require the RTMP protocol. The box plus Windows software starts at $299. Everything but the price probably sounds pretty familiar since the incredibly similar Livestream Broadcaster is also just about on the scene, though, it'll run you about $195 more. Take a gander at the PR after the break.

  • TUAW TV Live: The joy of iPhoneography

Welcome back to TUAW TV Live! Today I'm going to take you on a little adventure talking about the camera that has changed my life -- the one on my iPhone. It's not so much about the camera, but the clever and useful apps that developers have created to make my iPhone and iPad photos really stand out. Today we'll talk about iPhone and iPad camera apps, with a pile of demos of various apps that I've collected over the years. I don't shoot photos with my iPad, but I do use it to apply effects and filters to images taken with my usual digital camera, and to back up photos taken on vacation trips. • TUAW TV Live at 5 PM ET: One week until the iPad 3 launch

It's one week exactly until the world knows what the new iPad is all about. For many of us here at TUAW, that means getting prepared to do a lot of writing about the new features, putting our existing iPads up for sale, and eagerly anticipating what cool new things we'll be able to do with our new toys when they arrive. That means it's a great time to pump up the excitement today on TUAW TV Live. If everything works correctly, this should also be our first truly HD show (720p). The issues with the HD webcam have been fixed thanks to the latest version of Wirecast Pro, and you'll get to see me and the demos in all their 720p glory. At least the demos will look good... And speaking of looking good, many thanks to TUAW TV Live viewer Uri Kelman, who designed the new logo you see at the top of the page. As usual, I'll be starting the show at 5 PM EDT (2 PM PDT / 10 PM BST) sharp, and we'll take a few minutes to chat before the demos start.
