Acer is showing up at CES with a lot of laptop upgrades in store, and its Windows PC revamps have a few tricks up their sleeve. By far the highlight of the mix is a new version of the high-end V 17 Nitro (above) that includes an Intel RealSense 3D camera. The depth sensor lets you control games and other supporting apps with hand motions instead of reaching for the trackpad and keyboard. If you're the creative sort, it'll also let you scan your face and other 3D objects for inclusion in games or 3D printing projects. There aren't any major upgrades under the hood, although you're still getting a beefy 17-inch desktop replacement between the quad-core 2.5GHz Core i7 chip, GeForce GTX 860M graphics and choice of solid-state (128GB or 256GB) or spinning hard drive (1TB) storage. You won't have to wait long to give this system a try, as it's shipping in January. However, it's not yet clear what the trick camera adds to the price, if anything.

  • Flyff releases V17 sneak peek

If you've played MMOs for any length of time, you're no doubt aware that the ability to soar through our favorite virtual worlds isn't exactly widespread. While flying mounts have appeared in AAA games including World of Warcraft, Vanguard, and soon, EverQuest II, few games let you soar with abandon like Flyff (which stands for Fly For Fun). The free-to-play title has been giving players the gift of flight since 2005 due to the fact that it's main form of post-20 transportation is via some sort of airborne apparatus. Flyff's newest expansion, V17, looks to continue this trend and is also adding a new Colosseum System designed to allow players to battle bosses for loot rewards. A Cooperation System is also in the cards, as are a boatload of new quests, a new dungeon, and a entirely new zone. Check out Flyff's official website for more info on the V17 expansion as well as the game's 20+ character classes, and be sure to view the V17 trailer after the jump.

  • AOC introduces 17-inch V17 LCD monitor: 12-millimeters thin

AOC already dished out a number of HD LCD monitors for those with a few extra bucks to spare, but the 17-inch V17 keeps things relatively cheap ($199.99) and exceptionally thin. More specifically, the monitor checks in at just 12-millimeters deep -- it's no XEL-1, sure, but that's pretty frickin' slim. Furthermore, it includes a built-in VGA webcam, glass base and integrated speakers to boot. We're still waiting to hear back on the screen resolution, but considering that this won't ship until late 2008 at the earliest, you've still got time to think on it. Full release after the break.Update: Resolution is 1,440 x 900, there's a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, a 200 cd/m2 brightness and a VGA input is included. %Gallery-32057%
