Simple.TV finally starts shipping to backers, latecomers can still order for $149 and up
The Kickstarter success known as Simple.TV had let it be known that units would start showing up at backers' doorsteps around October 10th-15th, and now those who happily invested on the project will be pleased to know the company's doing just as it promised. Meanwhile, folks who were late to the Kickstarter shindig can still grab a simplified video streamer for themselves via the outfit's site, where a Simple.TV Limited, Premier and Lifetime can be found for $149, $199 and $299, respectively. In case you need a quick refresh, the Simple.TV puck will let users watch and record live TV, which can then be easily streamed to a variety of devices -- including, as you can see above, an iPad, Mac or PC as well as Roku boxes. Roku celebrates 100 channels in the UK and Ireland, says more are on the way
Hitting any milestones or goals are usually worthy of a celebration, and on this occasion it's Roku's turn to party on. The LT, HD, XD and XS creator is flaunting the reach of 100 channels in its UK and Irish boxes, adding over 60 since its launch date back in January. The outfit isn't planning on slowing down anytime soon, though, saying more channels are expected in the upcoming months and that it aims to bring the one-channel-per-day model to streamers across the pond. Congrats, Roku, congrats.
Iomega ScreenPlay DX HD and TV Link DX HD stream 1080p
You know what the world needs? Yet another HD video media streamer, or two of them in the case of Iomega. The ScreenPlay DX HD (pictured) and lesser ScreenPlay TV Link DX HD just made their inaugural appearance on Iomega's home page along side a big "coming soon!" banner. At the moment, we only have specs for the DX HD revealing 1080p video playback over HDMI, up to 2TB of storage, DLNA certification, Ethernet jack and WiFi adapter, optical audio jack, component and composite video, and 2x USB jacks up front and 2x on the back. It also boasts a potentially useful QWERTY remote; Netflix, Mediafly, and Pandora integration; and a healthy dose of audio and video codecs / containers including H.264, WMV, RMVB, MPEG-1/2/4 (part 2, ASP), DivX, DivX Plus HD (MKV), XviD, AVI(Xvid, AVC, MPEG1/2/4), ISO, VOB, MP4, MOV, and MKV. Hands-on with the Apple iTV prototype
We're as surprised as you, but Apple actually put their iTV units on display right after the show! Really, there isn't a whole lot here that we didn't already see in the keynote and up on their site, but it's definitely Mac mini sized in terms of footprint, and is a sexy little bugger.
