What we're watching: 'Marvel's The Defenders' and 'The Night of'
Welcome back to Video IRL, where several of our editors talk about what they've been watching in their spare time. This month we're talking about the latest Marvel/Netflix series, The Defenders, to find out if it's as bingeworthy as previous efforts. Billy Steele hopped into HBO's archives to check out The Night Of and explains why this is a crime series you won't want to miss, and finally, Richard Lawler talks about The Man from Nowhere without mentioning that he always cries at the end.
What we're watching: 'Atypical,' 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople'
Welcome once again to "Video IRL," where several of our editors talk about what they've been watching in their spare time. This month we're checking out Netflix's big release from the past week that isn't The Defenders with What Happened to Monday? as well as a surprisingly heartwarming indie movie called The Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Meanwhile Contributing Writer Rob LeFebvre fell in love with the family in Netflix's series Atypical, and Saqib Shah looks at Guy Ritchie's King Arthur as a reason for optimism instead of just a box office bomb.
What we're watching: 'Shirobako,' 'American Gods' and 'Robot & Frank'
Welcome once again to Video IRL, where several of our editors talk about what they've been watching in their spare time. This month brings a mixed bag: While one of us dived into season one of Starz' series American Gods, another is obsessed with a quirky UK game show that will make the jump to America soon. Meanwhile we've given anime another chance, and last but not least, there's even some robot-enabled larceny.
What we've been watching in June
After putting together any home-theater setup, big or small, there's always one last question: What are you going to watch? Our editors have already opened up about some of the games they're playing and what they're listening to, but this edition of IRL is all about video. Sometimes we'll talk about the latest series we've binge watched, or maybe a new movie that you just can't miss. Today we have a little bit of everything as one editor revisits the roots of his anime fandom, another powers through Jenji Kohan's latest release on Netflix and, finally, one of us is watching Jurassic Park for the very first time.
