For any enV owners out there who managed to not splurge on a Voyager, it looks like you could end up being rewarded here something fierce. Verizon's true enV replacement, the VX9100, has now found its way into some glamorous press shots -- and while we're sure that reaction's going to be mixed, we're really digging the super-simple candybar appearance when the QWERTY clamshell is in its upright and locked position. Looks like it'll come in at least two colors to start -- black and maroon -- and we're also hearing that the name "enV2" is being tossed around in Verizon's documentation (surprise, surprise). Careful observers will note that the phone is sporting a USB port (either mini or micro, we're not sure) on the side, a promising sign that we'll finally be able to ditch those custom LG chargers in the not-too-distant future. We also got hold of a portion of the Motorola W755's user guide -- nothing too inspiring, we suppose, but if there's one thing Verizon needs, it's another midrange flip. We kid, we kid.%Gallery-18365%

  • Verizon has LG Chocolate and enV replacements enroute

Originally, we'd thought LG's VX10000 Voyager was the spiritual successor to the VX9900 enV; they share a form factor, after all, and let's not forget that 9900 + 100 = 10000. Something wasn't quite right, though -- the Voyager just seemed a tad too upmarket to reach the entire enV fan base. Sure enough, phoneArena has come across the enV's true successor, the rather anonymously-named VX9100, that features a far slicker exterior display and keypad that the phone it replaces, an internal QVGA display 2 megapixel camera, and microSD slot. That's not the only iconic Verizon model getting re-upped, though. The VX8550 Chocolate is starting to get just a little long in the tooth, and it looks like the VX8610 will swoop in to take its place. The navigation wheel gets replaced with a trackball (we have a feeling we're going to start to see this more and more) surrounded by four keys, but the massive new feature on this sucker is an integrated, detachable Bluetooth headset that stows on the slider's backside -- a patent that archrival Samsung curiously filed for last year. It should feature a 2 megapixel cam, QVGA display, and microSD slot just like its QWERTY cuz. phoneArena reports that both models are expected by the end of the second quarter.

  • LG VX9100, Samsung U940 "Q-Ball" (huh?) on track for Verizon this quarter

And now for a little gem from our "let us all pray it's merely a codename" department: it appears Verizon is tossing around the name "Q-Ball" in reference to the Samsung U940, the CDMA-ified version of the lovely F700. Of course, they could call it "Flaming Bag of Dog Poo" for all we care -- it's still going to be a hot handset that'll likely find a loyal following, and we're happy to report that the carrier's currently targeting the first quarter to get this puppy into subscribers' hands. The same can be said for the LG VX9100, a phone we just caught wind of earlier today via the FCC's loose lips (see the Read link for details), though we really can't make much of it other than that it'll wow us all with EV-DO and Bluetooth. Stay tuned![Thanks, anonymous tipster]
