We got our grubby mitts all over the latest and greatest from Sony Ericsson, including that new C905 8 megapixel monstrosity, and, of course, the Xperia X1. The C905 is certainly no slouch in the camera department, with that for-serious Xenon flash and dedicated camera keys, but you'll pay for it in thickness -- the C905 is a good deal thicker than its Walkman counterparts, though that does leave room for a nicely formed slide-out keypad. The C905 is capable of geotagging pictures, but can't upload on the fly to photo services just yet like Nokia's new phones, though such capability is in the works. While the C905 seems finely honed for a specific purpose, the Z780 flip phone seems much more plain jane in comparison, with a rather large size despite its "slim proportions" and a lack of detailing in styling to make it really pop. But, of course, who needs all that featurephone nonsense when you've got the X1 staring 'em all down? We got to twiddle around with an out-of-battery Xperia for a minute, and it's certainly one of the thickest and heaviest phones headed for the market in the near future -- though the upside of that is some glorious build quality, an immense WVGA screen and an expansive, highly touchable keyboard. SE certainly does seem to have something for everybody, but with Moto apparently working on an 8 megapixel camera of its own, and touchscreen rivals to the X1 hogging all the spotlight, SE's isn't looking at an easy road to bumping back that profitability. Oh, and in case you were interested, the gallery below also includes the W760 sporting a black finish, a pink-ish red-ish W580 and the wonderfully tiny W350i.%Gallery-26014%

  • We get hands-on with Sony Ericsson's W350i

Also on the table at Sony Ericsson's booth is the new ultra-light flip, the W350i. We've covered the important tech bits on this thing already and we were pretty stoked about its slim svelte look, but sadly, this fella still needs some tweaks to make it just right. We wanted to get at least a couple pics of the user interface, but it wasn't cooperating with us at all, any attempt to get the handset's demo rolling ended up in complete video madness. We can overlook software glitches as the handset isn't close to hitting retail, but this phone's flip is cheap, and I mean real floppy cheap. When in the closed position the flip doesn't actually seat -- we saw this on two different handsets -- nor does it have an I-will-last-a-long-time feel. Those points aside -- and it may be those issues go away before it hits retail in the second half of this year -- we're really digging the look of this set.%Gallery-12899%

Sony Ericsson banged out three new sets today, and one that immediately caught our eye with its Ericsson T39-esque -- with a dash of Z700 -- styled flip. The W350i features a 1.3 megapixel shooter, FM Radio, Bluetooth, 14 MB of internal memory plus a 512 MB Memory Stick Micro, and ships in either Electric black, Ice blue, Hypnotic black, or Graphic white -- we'll let you guess which is which. We can expect a W350a variant, which will include 850 MHz GSM in place of the 900 MHz in the W350i version, so the odds of this landing on our shores looks good. The music controls parked outside the flip are a pretty sweet idea, we're liking what they did with this design and hope that it continues to impress once we get some hands-on time. Of course, if we were forced to nitpick, we might whisper something like: where's the 3G fellas?

While we've yet to see anything legit come out of team Sony Ericsson at CES, we're seeing some nice pics surfacing of what are likely the real deal. Apparently Sony Ericsson are set to launch the W760i, Z555i, and the W350i -- which in our eyes is a pretty sweet flip -- which is pictured above. No specs have appeared yet, but we figure you'll settle for the lovely pics until Sony Ericsson opens the floodgates. Hit the read link for more shots.Update: Many thanks to the posters over at SEworld for getting some early press images up%Gallery-12775%
