Facebook Live is now available in the Lite app
Facebook Live is now available in the social network's Lite app, giving creators a way to reach new audiences that don't have access to pricier phones or strong mobile networks. That's just one of the things the company announced at the International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam, where it also introduced quite a hefty list of new features for Live and Watch Party. To start with, creators can now rehearse live broadcasts thanks to a new feature that allows them to publish videos only visible to Page administrators and editors.
Facebook helps you host viewing parties for live TV
Facebook's Watch Party won't just help you help watch online videos with friends -- it'll soon help with old-school TV. The social network is launching a new Watch Party experience that will let you host live TV shows, starting with sports. Start a party and you can cheer in chat, create polls and offer trivia questions based on player stats. It's not going to compare to gathering around the couch, but it should deliver more of a thrill than everyday group discussions.
NBA game recaps are coming to Facebook Watch
You'll soon get to see official highlights from every NBA game on Facebook, after the two signed a deal to stream recaps on the Watch tab. The agreement covers all four of the NBA's leagues: NBA, WNBA, NBA G League and the NBA 2K eSports league. Recaps from the Summer League, preseason and playoffs will also be available.
