TSA's thirst for Instagram fame pays off with three Webby awards
Who do you think would win Webby awards for its social media marketing prowess? A cutting-edge brand that resonates with the young crowd? A superstar who can break the Internet with one picture? Actually, it's... the TSA. Yes, the same agency that takes your water bottle at the airport (among other instances of security theater) just bagged three social content marketing Webby awards for its Instagram feed.
Vote for Engadget R+D's 'Superhumans' series to win a Webby Award!
Engadget R+D's first documentary Superhumans debuted back in September and now the series is up for a Webby Award. The look inside the first cyborg games is nominated for a People's Voice award in the Technology Film & Video category, but we need your help. Head over to the voting page between now and Thursday, April 20th to cast your vote for us. We would certainly appreciate it! It's not the first time we've been up for the prestigious award, but we would like to add some more hardware to our mantle. Kim Kardashian gets a Webby for 'breaking the internet'
For her "unparalleled success online," Kim Kardashian will receive the first-ever Break the Internet Award at the 2016 Webbys. With nearly 70 million Instagram followers and 45 million Twitter followers, the Webby Awards are calling the 35-year-old Kardashian "the leading celebrity in terms of her online presence." The award will recognize the wild popularity of everything she touches, from empowering nude selfies to custom emoji.

That's right, we're in the home stretch, and we can still use a little bit of love. As we subtly hinted previously, The Engadget Show is a nominated for a Webby, and we need your help to win! We won some Webby Awards, and now you can win a BlackBerry PlayBook!
It's happened again, we've won a Webby. More than one, even! Last year you voted your hearts out and awarded us the People's Voice award for Consumer Electronics. This year you did it again, but you also made us proud by awarding us a People's Voice award in Online Film & Video for, what else, the Engadget Show. We also scored the official Webby in Consumer Electronics (voted on by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences), which we're of course thrilled about, but we're most honored that you voted for us. So, we're going to throw a little love right back at ya. With BlackBerry World going on RIM has graciously given us another PlayBook to give away to you. To win it all you need to do is comment. Webby Awards nominate iOS games and apps
The Webby Awards are being voted on this week, and along with the usual website and advertising divisions, there's now a "Mobile and Apps" category. As you might expect, there are plenty of iOS games and apps represented on the ballots. iPhone favorites Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja are nominated for Handheld Games, and lots of our other favorite apps show up as well, including MLB At Bat 2011 and the Marvel Comics App under Tablet Entertainment apps, Flipboard under Tablet News, and Dropbox under Services. In short, if you're an iPhone user, there's lots of good choices for you to make over there right now. Voting runs through April 28, and then the award winners will be announced on June 13. We'll keep an eye out for them and let you know who walks away with the Webbys.
