Well, dear readers, I thought last week's one was pretty darn impossible. I thought I was going to have to come back in and post clues and the like, but yet again you've surpassed yourselves. I was really, really happy to see the elation in the post from the person who got it right when they did eventually find it! I've been and checked out the two locations that were discussed. The image is so nearly exactly the same in both, but I'm tipping my hat to TimothySeltman, who correctly identified the picture in Pinewood Village. If nobody had figured it out, I would have accepted Surwich in the very south of the Blasted Lands as an Alliance-friendly location, but big congratulations to you, TimothySeltman! He even put up his own picture; I'm very impressed indeed with his dedication. Bravo! I'd love to demand you all do the same, but I think that would be a bit excessive. This week's contribution is, I promise, very much hidden in plain sight for you all to find. I've only managed to locate one of these, so if there are others, I do apologize. It's courtesy of Gazell from Rexxar (A); thanks very much indeed for sending it in! As always, I have to be able to find my way to the location via your description. Coordinates are good, as are detailed directions. As ever, your guesses have to be in a new comment to be counted, not in a reply (or it's impossible for me to tell which came first). Good luck -- not that you'll need it! There's so much in Azeroth (and Outland!) just waiting to be found. Tip us off. If you've found a fabulously quirky landmark, hidden treasure, or special hideaway somewhere in Warcraft, drop me a line at olivia@wowinsider.com with your screenshot. You could be featured in a future edition of Where in Warcraft!

Well, I think things went marginally better last week. One commenter made a great point that all it takes is for one person to know where these locations are, and that tears it for all the readers. I am quietly encouraged that it's not purely that I am such a dreadful WoW explorer that I can't come up with any decent locations! Last week, we had a pixellated version of the crypt uphill of the Dustwind Dig Alliance flight point in the Badlands. Credit goes to wowpiper for giving directions which made it easy to find -- although yet again, despite my amazing picture editing skills, the first responder knew where it was. Alas, "the crypt in the Badlands" was not detailed enough for me to find it by your directions -- and you know the rules! This week's picture is one of my own, slightly doctored. It has been in my screenshots folder for a long old time; I'm not sure exactly when I took it, but I found it while looking for something else on a machine I haven't used for WoW for about nine months. I found it while out and about, and I was struck by how pretty it is and how I'd actually like it on my wall at home. My fear with this one is that the same picture is found in many locations, but I'm only going to accept the one where I actually found it. I will police the comments as closely as possible so I can tell you if the location you've suggested is wrong. I have to be able to find my way to the location via your description. Coordinates are good, as are detailed directions. As ever, your guesses have to be in a new comment to be counted, not in a reply (or it's impossible for me to tell which came first). Good luck -- not that you'll need it! There's so much in Azeroth (and Outland!) just waiting to be found. Tip us off. OK -- this is getting serious now. A few people have dropped me a line suggesting that I start editing, pixellating, or blocking out parts of the image to increase Where in Warcraft's difficulty. This is the last one I'm going to try before I do that. My congratulations to Sillon, who was the second responder to my last picture and the first to guess it correctly. I followed his directions and they led me exactly to the spot, which was in Deadwind Pass. I tip my hat to you, sir. If today's image is guessed within a few moments like its predecessors, I'm moving to picture editing. This is a cool little statue, looking something like a naga version of the Hindu god Vishnu surrounded by a rounded throwing weapon, kind of looking like something you see wielded by NPCs in certain areas. But that's all extraneous information! The question is: Where in Warcraft is it? EDIT: And I have to belatedly add: thanks very much to Prey (Perenolde) for the picture! You know the rules: I have to be able to find my way to this location with your instructions. I'm also adding a new rule to avoid situations like we had a while ago: Your guess must be in a new comment thread, not a reply to another post. Otherwise, it's impossible for me to know who guessed first. That leads to unfair decisions, and nobody likes those. There's so much in Azeroth (and Outland!) just waiting to be found. Tip us off. • Where in Warcraft: The difficult balance edition

It is a difficult balance, you know, writing a guessing game like this. It's a bit like the difficult balance facing developers of computer games. You don't want to make a challenge so utterly impossible that the majority of people feel excluded, but neither do you want to make it so easy that everyone guesses it within a few seconds! But who am I kidding -- I'm not Blizzard! I am, however, impressed with your speed and accuracy in guessing the last Where in Warcraft installment. DavidSikes, almost to my annoyance, had it within moments of posting! Good job, DavidSikes. You win a cave near Ahn'Qiraj and the respect of the girl who writes this feature. (The last one is a rather dubious reward, let me tell you.) Anyhow, as the Foo Fighters sang in All My Life, on, on, on to the next one. The above screenshot was kindly submitted by Trakand of The Maelstrom (EU). Thanks very much, Trakand. And before you yell "faction bias," this scene is out in the world for anyone to find. And that's all I'm saying about it. Or it'll be guessed in all of three seconds again. So you know the rules: I have to be able to find my way to this location with your instructions. I'm also adding a new rule to avoid situations like we had a while ago: Your guess has to be in a new post, not a reply to another post. Otherwise, it's impossible for me to know who guessed first! That leads to unfair decisions, and nobody likes those. In other news, in England, Where's Waldo? is called Where's Wally? There's so much in Azeroth (and Outland!) just waiting to be found. Tip us off. If you've found a fabulously quirky landmark, hidden treasure, or special hideaway somewhere in Warcraft, drop me a line at olivia@wowinsider.com with your screenshot. And Yet It Moves, Broken Rules's cardboard-style, world-rotating platformer, is available for download on WiiWare in Europe today. You'll have to move 1,000 Wii Points out of your account to purchase the game, which came out this Monday in North America. WiiWare is also host to Tales of Elastic Boy Mission 1, a 600-Point sort-of platformer starring a little slime creature that can roll and attach to objects with its stretchy arms. Meanwhile, DSiWare in Europe has myNotebook Carbon and myNotebook Pearl, two variations of Nnooo's notebook app. Also available: Where's Wally? Travel Pack 1. Yes, Wally. He always seems to be hidden behind Waldo.

  • Where's Waldo? At the top of the iPhone charts

Never ever underestimate the power of nostalgia -- just ask Nintendo or Capcom. FingerGaming's list of the top-grossing iPhone/iPod Touch apps reveals Where's Waldo? The Fantastic Journey is outselling Call of Duty: World at War Zombies, which held the top spot for three weeks. To put this in perspective: some world-traveling goof who blends into a crowd with the ease of a fully-trained CIA operative is beating out a game with Call of Duty and Zombies in its title. That is a skill. EA's iPhone port of Dragon's Lair took the third spot. Actually, EA is doing well on the iPhone, as Tetris, The Sims 3, Need for Speed Undercover and Monopoly also made the top ten list. EA is also having a major sale right now on iPhone games, so that might be helping a bit. [Via Gamasutra]

  • Where's Waldo? On Wii, DS, PC, and Mac this September

Finally, for those of us waiting since 1992's The Great Waldo Search for a new console Waldo-finding adventure, Ubisoft has released the first details and screens of Ludia's Where's Waldo? The Fantastic Journey, coming out on Wii, DS, PC, and Mac in September. iPhone, originally announced as one of the platforms, is conspicuously absent from the list. The Fantastic Journey allows one or more players to search not just for Waldo, but for his friends and other items. The multiplayer mode features power-ups that shake opponents' screens or cover them in paint, freeze the search window, or enhance items on your own screen. The first screens, available in our gallery, show the Wii version. We have to wonder at whom these are targeted: kids aren't going to remember, or even know, Where's Waldo, and the concept of just looking for a guy in a picture is kind of laughable now that the fad is over. Does that mean that this is intended to serve adults' Where's Waldo nostalgia? Is there such a thing?%Gallery-68104%

  • Don't call it a comeback: 'Where's Waldo?' game in production

Canadian developer Ludia announced today that it will create games based on the Where's Waldo? book series. The first game by the company, Where's Waldo? The Fantastic Journey, will release on consoles, PC/Mac, iPhone and iPod touch. The game is slated for Q3 of this year and we're desperately trying to get our hands on some screen shots -- just so we can find Waldo in them.Waldo hasn't been working the video game circuit for quite some time -- although he does have an online presence. He had some PC outings in the mid-'90s, but his most recent console adventures appear to be a couple of laughable NES and Super NES games from the early '90s. The new game will have players finding several objects beyond the titled protagonist, with up to four players working cooperatively or competitively. At least today's gaming hardware should be able to render the mess that is one of the Where's Waldo? pictures.
