WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Way back in vanilla, I remember questing with a friend out in Azshara -- well, maybe "questing" is too strong of a term. It was more like "murdering mass amounts of dragonkin and grinding out XP" than real questing. While merrily stomping dragons, all of a sudden we heard a zone-wide yell from Azuregos, a new outdoor boss that had just been put in. My friend, being the hit-things-first-ask-questions-later type, decided to run up and smack the dragon in the face. After all, he reasoned, it was only a dragon. How hard could it be? This was when we both learned the valuable lesson that creatures with ??? listed as their level should probably not be messed with unless you've got a substantial amount of backup. Oddly enough, I kind of miss those days. Today, we've got some posts looking at different parts of Cataclysm and sharing some thoughts and reviews on the expansion. Lume the Mad continues a series on Cataclysm in review with a look at the expansion's production quality. Blessing of Kings looks at the current state of endgame raiding and comes up with a few suggestions for improvements. Jod's Blog looks at the progression of questing in game, with a nostalgic glimpse at the days where group quests were a necessity. Hey, bloggers! Wondering what it takes to be featured in The Daily Quest? The answers are after the break, so keep reading!

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Some of my earliest childhood memories involve this song playing on my mother's eight-track player. You ever had one of those moments when you listened to a childhood song and then suddenly paid attention the lyrics? It took me nearly 20 years before I realized that song was about marrying a rich guy. Or gambling. ... I guess it wasn't exactly meant to be one of those role-model-type tunes, was it? Today we've got some posts involving gold making in World of Warcraft, and none of them involve getting hitched to a rich guy -- I promise. Mountain O' Gold ran some reports on solo Kara runs, which aren't just fun -- they're profitable too! Wragstoriches takes a look at Chaos Orbs and exactly how much they ought to be worth. The Gold Mint is beginning to wonder whether patch 4.3 will contain the one thing we haven't seen in Cataclysm content yet: epic gems. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Guys, I am tired. I've spent most of the week working on a kitchen renovation and preparing to do a bathroom renovation and working on a wall-mounted bookcase that is taller than I am. I don't know about the rest of you, but I am beat. Oh, what the heck. It's been a long week -- how about we put a little fun in Friday? Today, we've got some posts from around the blogosphere that are nifty, pretty, and just plain fun. WTS Heals looks at World of Warcraft from a Disney perspective. Say what? Dwarven Battle Medic continues a series of really amazing posts with gorgeous panoramic screenshots from Outland. Warcraft Confessions is one of those entertaining Tumblr confessions sites with a decidedly Warcraft twist. Neat! Need More Rage presents Galertuby's guide to cooking chili. I ... don't have words. Just go check it out, and end the week on a laugh. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? Just leave us a comment, and you may see it here tomorrow! WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I like roleplaying; it's why I write a column on the process. It's a little bit creative writing, a little bit improvisational acting, and a little bit of the lore that I love, all wrapped up in a tidy package. I sometimes wonder about those who criticize RP and whether or not they actually understand what it's about, though. If you've ever read and enjoyed a novel, what you're seeing with roleplay is a giant, interactive novel with many authors who write the story as they go along. Sound fun? It is! Today we've got a few posts from around the blogosphere concerning the subject of roleplay. WTT: [RP] has a slightly older but incredibly useful post covering the basic starting blocks of RP. RP Made Simple offers a stimulus package for those who are concerned with the current state of roleplay activity. I Like Pancakes takes a look at character descriptions and common discrepancies in roleplaying stats. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Deep down inside, I always wished that the Evil Twin debuff actually did something. I'm not sure what it would do, though, other than cause undue amounts of chaos if it actually did something nasty like switch my hotkeys around or some other nonsense. Perhaps simply giving my character the evil twin goatee à la Spock in Mirror Mirror would be suitably entertaining. Look-alikes! They're everywhere, and today we've got a blog post on where to find some leather look-alikes -- goatee not included -- as well as some amazing staves and a double take at an unassuming NPC who could be something more ... Revive and Rejuvenate has a list of leather sets that mimic the look of tier -- including the now-unobtainable Dungeon Set 1. A Sunnier Bear has gone and collected a massive list of cool-looking staves and polearms ripe for transmogrification. Orcish Army Knife looks at the mysterious NPC Dominic and wonders exactly what that Forsaken is up to. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Around this time last year, I was working on Icecrown Citadel and looking forward to Cataclysm. The year before that, I was taking my first steps in a new raid guild as we worked on Ulduar and Trial of the Crusader. The year before that, I was clearing Black Temple. It gets fuzzier as I go back in time, but I do have hundreds of fond memories, and I wonder -- what am I going to be doing a year from now? Today, we've got a few posts from around the blogosphere looking ahead at future content and one fond look at where we've been before. MMO Melting Pot looks at the potential ups and downs of the upcoming Deathwing raid. Dwarven Battle Medic shares some thoughts on the upcoming content in patch 4.3. Priest With A Cause has been imagining what the new raid finder will look like. Manalicious takes a trip down memory lane with another look at The Burning Crusade. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I don't know about anyone else, but I was sad to leave Johnny Awesome in Hillsbrad. Poor guy just couldn't catch a break and lost his sparkle pony to an undead monstrosity. We will never forget you, Twinkles! Never! That said, I was terribly happy to see Johnny again up on the peaks of Hyjal, but hey! He was riding another sparkle pony! Is that a reincarnated Twinkles, or did Johnny find himself another pony? Fickle, fickle Johnny. Today we've got some posts on a variety of topics from around the blogosphere, including threat, excuses and the Dungeon Finder. Jinxed Thoughts is totally breaking up with threat. Sorry threat, but maybe you can still be friends? Kurn's Corner discusses the proper way to deal with raid failures without making excuses. The Vengeful Polygot presents the novice's guide to all things Dungeon Finder. Speaking of dungeons, I Like Bubbles has a handy flowchart outlining the ins and outs of dungeon queues. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. See that screenshot? That is my bank before patch 4.3. After patch 4.3, I will have bank space again -- and no idea what to do with it all. I am crying, Blizzard. Tears (and tiers) of joy. Speaking of that upcoming patch, I'm also looking forward to being able to wear all that gear without wearing that gear -- as in, using that new transmogrification feature that was just announced. Will it be expensive? Oh, I'm sure it will be. It's OK. I've been saving my gold for just such an occasion. Speaking of transmogrification, we've got a few reactions to the news, courtesy of the blogosphere. Shattered Beginnings is excited about the changes and shares some screenshots of tier sets from days gone by. I think it's safe to say that Big Bear Butt is also excited by the changes and looking forward to gathering gear. The Suicidal Zebra points out a handy place to go in order to look up info for tier lookalikes. Warcraft Hunters Union points out that transmogrification is cosmetic only and what that means for excited hunters. Blessing of Kings thinks perhaps past looks are meant to remain in the past. 08.17.2011

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I have to admit, I've never really played a tank seriously at max level before. The closest I came was with a druid alt during Wrath of the Lich King who would occasionally fill in and bear tank heroics when needed. Heroics by that point had become so easy that tanking wasn't exactly difficult, so I didn't mind filling in -- but the tank role is just not one I've been entirely comfortable filling. So when the new threat changes were released yesterday, I wasn't terribly sure what they meant or why they were even important. Luckily, the blogosphere is abuzz with discussion over the changes and how they affect dungeons! Looking for More goes over the threat adjustments and tries out tanking with the new changes. Raiding After Dark gives us a look at the changes from a paladin tank's perspective. Big Bear Butt gives his perspective on the threat changes and reactions. Tobold's MMORPG Blog has a good point about the threat changes and how they affect player responsibility. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? 08.15.2011

WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. My first Horde character was a Forsaken -- a priest, chosen specifically because I wanted to play an overpowered, easy class, and Forsaken shadow priests were the flavor of the month. But I was utterly enchanted by my little undead priest, her golden glowing eyes peering around when idle, the way she'd swing a staff over her head like she was smacking a rug with a broom, and how she was all knees when she jumped. I still play her, although she has yet to make the trek to 85. But the Forsaken as a whole confuse me. Should I feel bad for these former living residents of Lordaeron, cursed to live on after death and unable to reconnect with their living friends and family? Or should I feel uneasy and a little ill due to Sylvanas' machinations and obvious plotting to use the plague against the living? I don't know. I do know that we've got two really interesting posts regarding the Forsaken today, as well as a suggestion for a new dungeon that I can really get behind. Cynwise's Field Notes takes an in-depth look at the Forsaken leveling experience from vanilla to Cataclysm. Priest With A Cause tells us about her experiences with Forsaken leveling and how Sylvanas surprised her. Orcish Army Knife has an excellent suggestion for a new dungeon in an area that is so, so overdue for a complete rehaul: Stromgarde. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. My guild is a super-serious guild. We'll apply ourselves and kill bosses, and we'll patiently listen on Vent as our raid leader explains strats. And then someone will hop on a White Hawkstrider, and others will follow suit. While patiently listening, someone will invariably hit the spacebar, and others will follow, until our raid leader finally realizes his careful explanations in Vent are being done to a soundtrack of quietly obnoxious, screeching birds. It's all in fun, I swear! We're totally serious raiders. Today we've got a few posts from around the blogosphere regarding raid guilds, recruitment, and other serious topics of conversation. World of Matticus has a few suggestions on maximizing your recruiting time. Jaded Alt talks about the differences between teaching new applicants or simply kicking them. Manalicious shares some ideas on avoiding the formation of cliques in guilds. Big Bear Butt shares a blast from the past and a reminder of the perils of Karazhan raiding. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I'm done with the Molten Front -- finished all the dailies, got the hippogryph, finally got the title the other night after finishing the last achievement I needed, and managed to snag the Searing Scorchling pet while I was at it. Now that I'm done with all that nonsense, I suppose I should resume work on archaeology, the profession in which you supposedly learn things about history. So far, the only thing I've learned has been that archaeology is incredibly boring. But I suppose if I want those pets, I better suck it up! Today we've got a collection of posts from around the blogosphere concerning the subject of learning. Bible of Dreams teaches us about getting organized to create positive guild environments. Oh My, Kurenai! teaches us about learning to resto -- and to level as a healer. Holy Word: Delicious teaches us about the fine art of raid leading. Root and Branch has some radical teaching methods to get people to learn that fire is bad and will hurt you. Is there a story out there we ought to link or a blog we should be following? WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. Pandaren. Adorable, absurd, or the subject of the next expansion? Talk about the supposed Mists of Pandaria expansion has been split between people who think pandaren would be amazing and people who are highly offended at the prospect of talking pandas infiltrating their highly serious game with the talking cows, doggy people, and little green men. Personally, I think it's an entertaining prospect with a lot of potential. But I do love me some pandaren, so I'm biased, probably. As for the rest of the blogsphere ... well, how about we take a look at some links and see what they have to say? Blessing of Kings is cautiously optimistic about the whole idea of a pandaren expansion. Player vs. Developer ponders the potential of Pandaria. The Dead Good Tanking Guide is intrigued by the prospect of Pandaria, and the author has his own thoughts regarding what the expansion could contain. MMO Melting Pot goes over what they know -- which is absolutely nothing, much like the rest of us, so it's up to some fun speculation and outright guesswork! My dad and my brother are cramming in as much fishing as they can over the next few weeks. As for me, I'll continue quietly working away at home and being entertained with stories of said fishing excursions. Sitting quietly by a buggy lake and staring at a pole with no fantastical internet distractions is just not my idea of a good time. Still, fishing is supposed to be awfully relaxing -- and speaking of relaxing, we've got a few posts from around the blogosphere concerning the art of simply letting all that stress and frustration go. Manalicious has some excellent advice for players frustrated while having one of those raid nights. Big Bear Butt thinks the game is a little easier when you look at it with a sense of humor -- even those annoying Molten Front dailies. Lastly, while FeralTree doesn't have anything to say right meow about the subject of relaxation, he does have one word of advice for feral kitties unable to get their paws on Fandral's staff: Nyan. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. So, did you hear the latest about Diablo 3? Apparently, Blizzard's going to allow players to purchase items on the auction house for real-life currency. I am eagerly awaiting the day when my Diablo-obsessed friend puts his first collection of items up on the auction house and waits for the cash to roll in. Mostly to see the look on his face when he realizes everyone else playing the game is doing the exact same thing and remembers the basic rules of supply and demand. Of course, the blogosphere is pretty chatty about this topic, so let's take a look at some posts! The Grumpy Elf thinks this feature will eventually make its way to WoW and shares some reasons why. Stabbed Up stands up and asks who wants to be a professional gamer? Welcome to Spinksville shares some thoughts on the upcoming Diablocalypse. Gearscore may be a thing of the past, but Dungeon Finder queues and the people you find in them remain pretty much the same. The locations have changed, but you're still going to find a Go Go Go Guy every now and again. I don't really queue for random dungeons anymore -- I've got so much going on in my day that I can't usually spare the half hour to 45 minutes of sitting in queue waiting for it to pop. Today, however, we've got a blog post from someone who doesn't mind the long queue times and actually prefers them, as well as a few other posts from around the blogosphere about time investments. Priest With a Cause shares some reasons as to why long queue times aren't a bad thing. Flash of Moonfire wonders if there's any reason to put more time into raiding than say, twice a week. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. My first thought upon falling off the ledge in the Molten Front while doing dailies for the Druids of the Talon was, "Oh no, not again." My second thought, a slightly less literary reference, was "Now how am I going to get my body back from this? Can I get my body back? Oh my God, I'm in mostly heroic T11 gear and some T12, how much is this spirit res going to cost me?" And then, it happened. A little bird showed up, snatched me from the jaws of death, gently chided me for not making the silly jump, and placed me gently on the ledge I'd been trying to reach. Since then, I have joyfully leaped off that ledge every time I have to do those dailies -- partially because I'm lazy, partially because I'm wondering if perhaps, one day, the Druids of the Talon will decide that my rampant stupidity warrants not saving me from certain destruction. It's a sick addiction. Speaking of addictions, today we've got a post about just that, as well as some other posts from around the blogosphere on a few other topics. Manalicious has a very serious problem that I share -- a fierce addiction to achievements. Priest With A Cause shares some thoughts about those pesky Molten Front dailies. Jinxed Thoughts explores some ideas about the world-first heroic Ragnaros 25-man kill and why it worked. Planet of the Hats gives us a subtly humorous look at the subject of raiding fatigue. I don't play Minecraft, although some people have been telling me I ought to play. I'm not sure I get what exactly it's all about -- and between that and general time constraints, I just haven't been interested in giving it a try. But man, when you see what people can do with the thing, it's kind of awe-inspiring, isn't it? Like the replication of Darnassus shown above. It's amazing how much detail you can get out of what look like virtual Lego bricks. Today, we've got a random smattering of posts from around the blogosphere, including one involving Darnassus, lovely zone that it is. Info about the World of Warcraft from the Altaholic (and isn't that a mouthful?) points out some nifty spots in Darnassus for RP. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. I have to say, one of my favorite bugs of all time was the one where players could get stuck in Polymorph form yet still retain control of their characters. The above video is a good example of the bug, framing it around the question, "What would you do if your best friend turned into a sheep?" I'm thinking running around a busy street repeatedly hitting Fan of Knives would be entertaining (not to mention unsettling to the general public). Today, we've got a few posts from around the blogosphere that also question and answer a variety of topics. A Sunnier Bear wonders whether or not other people mention WoW as a hobby to friends or acquaintances who don't play. Manalicious has figured out how Real ID Grouping, even as a premium feature, is going to save both time and money. WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. You know what I miss? Class-based quests. Not the simple You have reached level 10, let's do a quest where you learn how to cast that one spell I just taught you variety -- the kind like the old quests found in Molten Core or the epic mount quests that warlocks and paladins had to do. I did all but one of them at one point in time or another, the exception being the hunter quest that you picked up in Molten Core. And each of them was unique, fun, interesting. And ... giant pains in the butt now that I think about it -- but hey, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Today, we've got at a few posts from around the blogosphere regarding absences of one kind or another. Orcish Army Knife laments the lack of level 50-60 water and offers some suggestions on where to get your mana fix.
