WWDC sessions available to all ADC members on iTunes
Back in October, Apple dropped DVDs as their distribution system of choice for WWDC sessions and presentation slides. The company moved all this content to iTunes - but only for Select and Premiere members of the ADC (Apple Developer Connection). Today I just received an ADC email titled "Watch Mac OS X State of the Union," re-announcing the availability of this content, but seemingly for all ADC members. This time around there is no talk of access only for specific members, so it sounds like anyone with a valid ADC account of one level or another can access this library of Mac OS X development goodness. We would post the URL, but it seems as though it is only accessible by logging into one's ADC account online.[Update: According to readers, it sounds like only the general State of the Union sessions are offered, while access to "the juicy stuff" still requires a Leopard Early Starter Kit.]
WWDC sessions on iTunes
Apple has traditionally made available DVDs of WWDC session to attendees, however, this tradition is no longer. DVDs are so last century, friends. We live in a brave new world of jetpacks, hovercars, and large electronic means of distributing video.That's right, Apple is making videos of the sessions, and accompanying presentations, from this year's WWDC available on iTunes. Before you curse the skies and rend your clothes because you are unable to find these fabled videos, worry not. They are only available to ADC (that's Apple Developer Connection) Select and Premiere members.

Leopard: what we got and what we wanted
Chris Breen has written a nice follow up piece about Macworld's predictions for Leopard. The article lists the things that Apple delivered on, and the things they didn't. Granted the editors just listed things they wanted to see and not things that they were sure were going to see the light of day, but Apple did deliver on quite a few their wishes.So, dear TUAWers, what OS X wishes did the sneak peek of Leopard fulfill and what features did it still leave you craving?

John Gruber, a man who knows his cheesesteaks as well as his Macs, is on the scene at WWDC and is armed with his camera. He took the picture above and posted it to Flickr. Notice it says, 'Please ensure that your communications with others outside WWDC 2006, including your blogs, do not contain any Apple Confidential Information.'We have made it people, Apple fears blogs. Anonymous Apple employee supposedly speaks about WWDC
When we go through our usual motions and say "take things with a grain of salt," we mean it -- but seriously people, take this one with a few. A site called DVD Newsroom is claiming to have published a short interview with an anonymous Apple employee who gave them the blow by blow of what we can expect from WWDC 2006 next Monday. In a nutshell: no iPhone (yet), Blu-ray probably coming in January (at Macworld 2007), Mac Pros will ship October or November, new monitors with "built-in iChat" (huh?), no plans for an Apple TV, nor a 12 or 14-inch MacBook, iTunes movie downloads will feature burning to DVD, no Mac tablet on the horizon, and, of course the bit everyone wants to know, "expect a true video iPod with Airport support" in the future. So there you have it, yet another unsubstantiated rumor keeping the Apple-blubber-lit fires burning bright going into the weekend. We hope not to have to pain you with more over the next couple of days, but we're making no guarantees.[Thanks, Eliz and Marty]
WWDC 2006 banner
Our good friends at Engadget came across this picture of a 2006 WWDC banner in Moscone Center (that' where WWDC takes place in sunny SF). So, what does this banner tell us? Well, that thing that looks like a G5 tower probably contains an Intel chip (I assume) which might be 64 bit (hence the 64 bit logo). We can also see the subtle leopard print on the OS X disc, which isn't as obnoxious as I thought it might me.Check out the Engadget post for more pictures and share your thoughts in the comments.
WWDC 2006 banner revealed from within Moscone
Damn well, here we go again with the tea leaves. Someone snagged a picture of a massive banner over at the Moscone Center in San Francisco where WWDC is taking place next Monday. While it doesn't give us too much to work with, we can clearly see the usual set of Mac icons, what could maybe possibly be the aluminum nano (it's just not quite as white as the iMac beside it to these eyes) and two very out of place images: a "64-bit" logo, and what appears to be a PowerMac. Of course, the easy thing would be to conflate the two and say that a 64-bit Intel Mac Pro is set to be debuted, but we're hesitant -- though we know they wouldn't give the most prominent spot on that massive banner up to an old fuddy duddy G5 box. So maybe there will be a Mac Pro, but maybe it won't be as visually overhauled as everyone is hoping (then again maybe not), and maybe that 64-bit business is regarding their Xserve line. What's up with that shielded area over on the right though, the bit that's covering the MacBook Pro? How they love taunting us all. Tell your OS X developer friends (though I bet they know already), Apple has posted information about the sessions at this year's WWDC. There are three different kinds of sessions (each link leads to a list of the sessions under that topic): Presentation Sessions Hands-on Sessions Hands-on Labs Check them out now, so you know which ones you want to attend.
Sneak preview of Leopard at WWDC
Are you dying for a sneak peek at Leopard, the next incarnation of OS X? If so, book a ticket for San Francisco in mid-August. Apple has announced, on its site and by email to customers, that it will offer a preview of OS X Leopard at WWDC 2006, scheduled for August 7-11.The Apple site briefly describes five WWDC session tracks -- Application Technologies, Development Tools, Graphics and Media, Information Technologies, and OS Foundations -- but doesn't provide details about specific sessions. If you're considering going, try to get your boss to pick up the registration fee, which is a stiff $1295-$3500 before June 23 and even more after that date. If you're a student, don't overlook Apple's Student Scholarship Program. We told you before -- but it's worth a reminder -- that applications for a free WWDC ticket through that program are due on April 28.
