Engadget Review
Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite has long been the go-to e-reader, and for good reason. It provides an enjoyable reading experience with enough premium features to keep most literary lovers happy. Now, with the addition of Bluetooth/Audible and waterproofing, it’s even more useful and durable than before. Skip the base model and go straight to this one.
Pros
- Audible support
- Waterproofing
- Improved design
- Better-contrast display
Cons
- Pricey when fully loaded (LTE and 32GB storage and no “special offers”)
- No MP3 or text-to-speech support

In the end, though, I’m willing to bet that even if Kobo’s comparable product is better in many ways, most people already have an Amazon account and just want an e-reader that plays nicely with it

Like it or not, Amazon has mostly won the e-reader market, and the basic Paperwhite is the best buy in its line.Wired90REVIEW: KINDLE PAPERWHITE (2018)The new Paperwhite, with its lighter design, waterproofing, and support for Audible, has caught up to the Oasis in some key areas. As I was using the new Paperwhite, I had no sense of FOMO or thoughts of wanting to upgrade to the Oasis instead. And again, the new Paperwhite costs a lot less. You can use the extra bucks instead to buy more stuff on Amazon, which has always been the most clever part of Amazon’s hardware design.PC Mag90Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2018)For $130, the waterproof Kindle Paperwhite offers more for your money than any other ebook reader on the market. The Guardian100The new standardIt’s not worth upgrading without reason from the 2015 model, but if you want a simple, dedicated e-reader, the 2018 Kindle Paperwhite is about as good as you can get.Pocket-Lint90Thinner, brighter, betterThe Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is still the best Kindle to choose. It gives you that important illumination over the basic model, without the cost of the Oasis. For many people, this will be the model to pick. The Verge90THE NEW BEST-SELLERForget being a jack of all trades, the Kindle is content mastering one. And while there are still lingering issues here and there, the new Paperwhite is probably the closest Amazon has come to achieving that goal.TechRadar90Amazon Kindle Paperwhite reviewThe Kindle Paperwhite takes a lot of what we love about the more expensive, high-end Kindle Oasis and brings the core features into a more affordable package. This is a must-have ereader if you're after a way to read ebooks but you don't want to spend over $200 or £200.Expert Reviews100Exceedingly well readThe 2018 Kindle Paperwhite is a fantastic e-reader. While the interface feels sluggish and dated in between books, this simplicity becomes a virtue once you start reading. With no distractions or eye strain there’s simply nothing to stop you getting lost in the story; not even that Achilles’ heel of the tech world: battery life.TrustedReviews100Kindle Paperwhite (2018) ReviewThe perfect package of all the best Kindle features for a great price. You won’t be disappointed.Digital Trends80Kindle Paperwhite (2018) reviewThe 2018 refresh for the Kindle Paperwhite makes an already excellent ebook reader nearly perfect.
