Is this the Treo 610?
Ok, we've seen a lot of next-generation Treo rumors come and go, but this one seems sorta quasi-believable (and even has the usual photo of a Powerpoint slide hastily captured with cameraphone that we've come to expect with these). This time the rumored Treo 610 looks about the same as the current one, and is said to have built-in Bluetooth, a faster 312MHz processor, 32MB of RAM, a higher-resolution 320x320 LCD screen, dedicated answer and disconnect buttons, and a 1.2 megapixel digital camera. The specs include almost everything on the wish list, which makes us just the tiniest bit suspicious, so we ran this by one of our sources, who confirmed that the next Treo will sport most of these improvements, though he couldn't say either way whether or not the picture was accurate. The new Treo is listed as coming out this Fall from Sprint, which means it's gonna be a long summer.

Treocentral has posted an even better pic of the Treo "Ace" on their main page:

no bluetooth has been the thing holding me back from getting the 600, but sprint? Common, can't a real carrier pick this new one up?

Must...have...must...have...
Argh, no GSM Treo 610 yet? I guess that's a longer time for me to save up for it when it finally does come out. If it does indeed have bluetooth and a 1.2MP camera, it'll be the perfect handheld device.
Why do so few camera phones come with a flash? Is it just too big a drain on the battery? I'd like to be able to take some pictures INDOORS, too, thanks.
Definately, the camera is the weak link on the current model, so to have a 1Mpxl camera and hi-res screen will definately get me upgradin.
You're right thoug, a flash wud be good! I just hope that low-lite photos will be improved - currently they are exceptionally poor. The sooner they can get it released the better - I want - I want!!
I need tri-band GSM and voice dialling - an now with UK laws about cellphones whilst driving, we need car kits
I'd take GSM, far better connection quality than before and skip the camera (lots of corporations want the cameras gone from cellphones or want them not on premises - useless feature imo, given what other things could be improved instead), bluetooth is going to be a dead technology in a year, so I'll take that if it has to be but don't care, faster CPU (312 is still kinda meh), best screen possible and very, very good battery tech.
$.02
crummin cameras in phones are the worst use of the $$ and engineering resources ever invented
And STILL no Treo, of any model number, from Verizon. Drives me NUTZ. If their service wasn't so head-and-shoulders above every other US carrier, I'd have jumped 6 months ago to get a Treo...but I won't give up my solid signal for a flashy phone, no matter how "smart" it is.
The Treo 600 has more problems than any other mechanical device that I have ever seen.
The customer care is abominable. it is too bad that a company like this has managed to be successful. I would not recommend this phone to anyone unless they want terrible reception, terrible service and terrible customer service.
I was talking to a Verizon tech about another phone a few weeks ago. It was taking him awhile to fix my problem, so I had time to chat him up. I mentioned the Treo. He voluteered that he knew about it because he had just finished his training for it. I asked him if he knew when it was coming out. He said he had no idea, but that they always train the techs about 1 month b/f launch, so sometime in July was his guess.

our corporate Verizon rep said they would have the Treo 6XX in 30-60 days, whatever that means???
I was talking to a Verizon customer service person the other and wanted to see if he had any clue when this darn thing was coming out. He said they handle the testing right next to him. This part of the testing was the final phase, so he says, and it usually takes about 2-6 months after that crew starts testing to release the phone based on what he has seen. I mentioned that I read on a site that a rep told someone that it would be released on July 12th. He said it was possible but he wasn't sure. I can't beleive all of the conflicting info out there on the Treo 610 for Verizon. I just want some definitive answers!
Just spoke to a Verizon rep who said to expect the release of the Treo 610 on Monday, July 19. We shall see...
For all the Sprint-bashers, you oughta take another look. Their coverage with fallback to old cell technology for only $5 more a month coupled with the ability to use many of their phones as digital modems on the Internet AT NO COST per KB makes them an incredible value compared to Verizon. And who do you think is going to get the 610 out first: the company that has bankrolled the 600 for over a year or the new guys that have barely gotten the first unit out the door.
AT&T offers the Treo with quad-band GSM/GPRS:

But GPRS is so slow. Any good rumors about a model supporting EDGE?
Am I the only one who hates the antenna? P900 and many new phones are doing great w/o one.
Does the new Treo Ace do video clip shooting? And how long of a video clip can it shoot? 15 sec.? 5 min.? I would like to know!

TREO FOR PRESIDENT...
1. Get rid of the external antenna.
2. Switch to a standard headphone jack. The adapter is so annoying.
3. A dedicated MP3 chip so we can do full-speed multitasking.
4. Reduce GPRS drops/reconnects every time signal loses strength (in buildings).
