Motorola Finally Shows Off the A630
Motorola reportedly had an exclusive party to launch the A630, and when we say exclusive, we mean it. We weren't
invited, neither were our friends at MobileBurn or PhoneScoop. Not even MobileTracker, the folks telling us this
actually occured, were there.
The A630 could best be described as a baby Nokia 9500. On the outside it has a small monochrome screen, a numeric
keypad, and a camera (which everyone thinks is VGA). [MTekk has a
picture.] Like the 9500, the A630 opens like a book to reveal a 176 x 220 landscape screen on one side and a full
QWERTY keyboard on the other. The phone should also have Bluetooth, an SD card slot, and quad-band GSM all packed into
a tiny package that weighs only 3.5 ounces.
The A630 will be Cingular exclusive (at least initially), and according to rumors it's due out in July.

Im usually into buying N3300's, and unlockign them for friends and stuff. Well, I think this will be my next one to bastardize. Its cool, no? Wish it used Motos Wisdom OS though, rather than the one in the V300-600. Winsdom was the OS used in the Accompli's. Everyone wants to be a hiptop :)
Neat looking phone. It's too bad they didn't use more of that real estate to make a wider LCD screen. Looks like it has potential though.
It had a cameo in the new Black Eyed Peas video "lets get it started"
now I'll go hide for admitting I watched Black Eyed Peas videos.
The song is really called Let's Get Retarded. Way to go P.C. America! hehe.
And hey, what's with everyone picking up that this phone runs Windows Mobile 2003?? In all the pictures of it and everything, it's running the usual Moto OS. I think that one Czech site that no one can read yet stated "windows mobile 2003" is spreading that one unintentionally.

I know that Moto's forsaken Symbian, so I'm not surprised there's no Series 60 on this device. But at least a Windows Mobile flavor. If they didn't want to cut into the MPx's sales, I might understand. But this is what the MPx should have been anyway.
It's the same kind of stupid thinking that's kept Nokia from putting Series 60 on the the 6800 series. There's nothing better than a phone that LOOKS like a phone, but with a Qwerty.

Have fun.
