Regular people can buy the Treo 600 from Verizon now
About a zillion people wrote in with the news that, as expected, Verizon Wireless did indeed officially start selling the Treo 600 to the unwashed masses today, ending their weeklong embargo on only selling them (officially, wink wink) to their business customers. We would say something snotty about how you should just wait for the Treo 610/Treo Ace which is expected sometime around October, but at that rate Verizon is going they wouldn't have it until July 2005 anyway. Anyway, Verizon is selling the Treo 600 for $499.99 with a one-year contract and $449.99 with if you sign up for two years).

I have an AudioVox camera phone through Verizon now and an old Palm m515 for a PDA. In addition, I use a Mac/Airport system at home. Looking to purchase a palm treo....Please explain why I should wait until the 610 or 660 comes out over buying the 600 right now. Thanks
I just bought a Treo 600 last week and have been depating on whether or not to keep it.
The Treo 610 will have a processor that more than twice as fast as the 600 (312mhz vs 144mhz). The screen resolution on the 610 will be double that of the 600 (320x320 vs 160x160).
The 610 will also sport Bluetooth, which I can use to wirelessly connect my laptop to my phone to browse the web. With the 600, I have to use a USB cable.
Beyond that, there probably aren't any other huge differences. If the 3 things I mentioned above aren't a big deal to you, then go for the 600. It's worth considering...
Both Cingular and Sprint have the Treao 600 for a lot less then verizon and with shorter contracts. You can get from Cingular via yahoo price compare for 299. Sad, but very typical of verizon.

I own this new Treo....loving every second of it...simply amazing.
I am miserable with this Treo 600. Too many reasons to count, but topping the list are the clumsy formfactor, brick-like WEIGHT, and overall workmanship (crashed so many times the first month they replaced it...then the backing started to chip off the replacement device within days). I had a BlackBerry 7510 at Nextel, and didn't realize how much I loved it until I switched to Verizon and bought in to all the rave Treo reviews. Now I have to deal with this costly clunker day in and day out. {{{waaaaah}}}}
