Motorola's ultrathin V3 cameraphone
It won't be officially announced until tomorrow, but we're very impressed that Motorola was able to keep their
new razorthin V3 cameraphone a secret for this long, since this is one of those phones that you just can't help
blabbing about. It's a mere 14mm thick, with a casing made mostly of titanium and pretty much everything else you hope
for in a handset this thin, like a built-in digital camera, Bluetooth, a 4,096 color external LCD, and a 262,000 color
main LCD. Due out in September with an expected price somewhere around $700.
[Thanks, Rob]

Crap - I have the *exact* same question as above... surely this is an issue lots of people have??? I don't want to delete my SIM contacts, since I may use the SIM in another phone in the foreseeable future, but I also want to use the phone memory because photos can only be assigned to contacts saved on the phone.
This is silly... Motorola made a huge blunder here, if there really is no soution.
Although, to Roland, you *can* differentiate between the phone and the SIM contacts by the graphic next to them in the phone book, if listed by picture. But it doesn't solve much.
Anyone know who designed the Motorola V3? Or where it was designed in?
Barry,
I would love to know how you managed to use the V3 as a modem using Bluetooth. My modem keeps hanging up (w/ iR TimePort 7089 and BitSURFR 64k). I can iSync and browse via Bluetooth just dandy.
Would LOVE to find out why the modem hangs up (SIGHUP). Called Motorola, Cingular and Apple to no avail.
Longing for my T68i connection..
I got a v3 a couple of weeks ago. I planned on downloading pictures of my furniture (I design and build furniture) on to my phone. This way I could have a virtual portfolio on hand to show people when I am out and about. The problem is that when it displays your pictures a full 33% of the screen is occupied by a menu bar on the bottom and an icon representing the joystick pad and the title and size of the file. Does anyone know how to view images full size on this phone. This is so idiotic I pay all this money for a huge screen, I want to see the image full size. I would like to slap the idiot who programmed this phone. I think I am going to return it and get my money back. I will just carry a stack of pictures in my wallet.
Its almost a year since the V3 was launch. Anyone got the black one to compare to? I heard that the video recording can be enabled on the Silver V3 with a firmware upgrade. Anyone has info?
I use Entourage and sync a selected list from my address book with the phone using a utility called OnSync. Works great, though only with USB cable. Also manages two way syncs with most PIM apps I believe.
One question: I can transfer phone photos to the Mac using Bluetooth File Exchange - but it's slow and lond winded. Does anyone an easy route using USB? The problem is that the phone doesn't show up in the Finder or iPhoto or Image Capture. is there another utility that works?
I am going to get the v3 black edition on monday and i was just wondering if it will have video capture already on it. It would be great if it had, but some other websites say it can't CAPTURE them, just play them.
Please help, I am really confused as people are saying different things.
iSync *can* work! See this note from Apple: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301372
The phonebook *can* list each person's name once (and then press right button to scroll through numbers). When in the phonebook, press the menu button, then select "Setup"; then set View to "Primary Contacts" (this really means collate by name, like SonyEricsson phone do by default)
My 2-cents about the phone: Even better sound quality and signal strength than my SonyEricsson T610. The speakerphone is nearly as good as my expensive office phone, and better than any cheap home landline phone's speakerphone.
I am a cellphone addict, as soon as a new or better model comes out I go for it, now my eyes are set on this Razr V3, I'm waiting for mine in the mail should arrive anyday now, can't wait any longer, can't stop reading about it on the internet, I want my phone already AWWWWWWW. I am sooooo in love with this phone. I think I have found the ONE. Greatttttt phone, my brother has one and I can't get enough of it. It works in every room of his house and even the basement.
I just got this phone 2 days ago and dont know alot about it! Help! Can anyone tell me just how many txts it stores?? I have a wee icon at the top left of my screen with like a wee envelope with 2 arrows, wats that?? Also my friend sent me a ringtone and ive received it as a txt, how do i set this as my ringtone?? Can you record songs on this, like if a song is playing and i like it, can i record it?
I have had my black v3 for about 2 weeks now. i think its great.... except i am sooooooo annoyed it doesn't have video capture on it. someone said something about P2Kman being needed to enable video. does anyone know anything about this? please help, i am really confused!
i just recently bought a Razr V3 its a great phone except that it has very poor reception, and every time i put the phone onto vibrate the phone then after the vibrate it does not respond to some of the commands such as the keypads dont respond or the camera doesn't focus all that well on an object. In conclusion i am not all to amused of the phone sure it has that sleek thin design but is thin good the thinner the cellphone gets the more it has problems. how do i know this im a T-MOBILE dealer AT A STORE IN PA. SO I HAVE MANY COSTUMERS IN PA THAT REPORT WITH THE SAME RPOBLEMS I HAVE SO IN MY STORES REVIEWS THE RAZR V3 GETS 2 1/2 STARS!
My sister-in-law just bought one (for as little as 100 €, with 2 year contract from Amena [Spain]). The phone is OK, but it does not charge the battery from the usb cable connected to the iMac. I don't know if people can confirm it, but if everyone can charge battery from the PC she's willing to return it and get another one.
Also, it's not clear which kind of music files you can put there, mp3, mp4, aac+? I tried to put there an 1,1Mb mp3 (lame CBR 32kbps) but the battery went off during the transfer, and as it does not charge by USB, we are left alone!
Ive had my V3 for months and have had no probs yet- I have yet to find the "perfect Cell". If people need all the whistles and bells buy a blackberry- Rarely have I found functionality that mirrors the companys ads!!!! for any phone provider- As far as not being able to capture video- I capture vid clips all the time- just go to multimedia/video/new video and then capture- great feature for car wrecks etc.... good luck -this phone rules!!! (even if not perfect)! morgan
I have a Razr V3 and I am having some issues with it already. I have the following questions:
1. How do you make the address book list contact name with multiple numbers and email addresses instead of listing the same name for each entry?
2. How do you setup the email? Do I have do it through an exchange server?
Can the pictures on the V3 be downloaded using a USB cable.
Does any body know how to search for a contact(other than scrolling down or up) in V3
I have the Motorola V3 Black phone. It does not capture video. I bought it from the internet as an unlocked phone. I tranfered my tmobile sim to it. After doing this, T-mobile started offering the V3 phone. Anyway, their V3 phone do capture video. They told me to call Motorola about my phone not capturing video because the feature is locked. Motorola said to take the phone with my receipt to my local Motorola authorized servicer. As long as I am still under the one year warranty, they will upgrade my firmware to unlock the recording feature. Motorola told me the firmware version I need. I called the local service center and they said bring it in. It will take about 15 minuted to upgrade so I can start recording video. So if your under your one year warranty, call Motorola and find out where you can have you firmware upgraded for free. I was surprised it was that easy. I am going tomorrow to do the upgrade. I can't wait. Check it out for yourself. Wish me luck. XyaneO.
i would agree that the phone is superbly built, its obvious that motorola spent time and money on their product but what ticks me off is that its an MP3 playback phone which is suppose to play tunes but has an internal memory capacity of 5(measly)mb's, fair enough its an business phone and is designed for that purpose but it contradicts the MP3 playback, they should have at LEAST craeted an external memory slot! i'll have to give the phone a 6.5/10
I just got a V3 and my mates can find me but i cant find them when they can see each other. What am i doing wrong plz?
this phone is great i'm getting the new pink 1 have a look at it it's awsome!! go on google nd type in motorola V3 pink razr i thought the black and silver was great but the pink 1 knocks them off the top spot!!!
Tell me please the talk-time for the black v3.
It's URGENT!!!! So please answer me!
Bought a v3 black, a few months ago, needed a small phone.the keypad back light failed after 2 days...sent phone off for repair, took them 4 weeks to repair, got phone back....no video recording function,no photo slide show, dust inside screen, gap on front where glass is crooked, been trying to get motorola to sort out for 6 weeks now....they now will replace phone !!! Next phone not going to be moto !
ive just had my v3 razor think its great but can anyone tell me if you can take videos with it or not? Maybe im stupid but i havent found out yet
I've just got my V3 black - Motorola have really got it right this time - it looks great and is so functional, and to those who say it doesn't do video - it does! Just go to the multi media section in the main menu and there will be a video camera icon, just select it and Bobs your uncle. My only real disappointment is the fact that mobile manufacturers have once again forgotten about the small, but elite, band of PC users that have Mac's. Isync is good but doesn't enable you to tranfer pictures etc by a wire. If anyone has a solution please let me know?!?!
In reply to item 78 .....My first v3 had a record video function, but the two after dont, they should, as shown on page 25 of the book but they dont,as i tried to explain to the prat at king of gsm.so there is the answer !! some do ,some dont....depends on the software.
Can someone tell me what all the bluetooth paths are, like if I wanted to put a game on there where would I go... games/games & apps? Or if your too lazy to tell me, can you point me into the direction of a website that can?
you cant put games on or off there i think but u can send images and videos by going to the pic, getting the menu by pressing the top centre button and selecting copy. you then search 4 phones 2 send it 2 and press send and they gotto allow you 2 send it. I had sum problems but its fne now the phones gr8
i just got a pink V3 Razr, i know its exclusively for t-mobile so my phone is unlocked and i have Cingular, im not able to get on the internet at all on the phone and it only came with one ringtone, theres nothing really i can do but text and make calls on it,is there some sord of software u can download on it to add all these options: please let me know if not so i can return this phone.....
Does anyone know if you can download anything to record video on this.. I can watch videos but i cant record?
Thanks
Phew! That thing is sexy.
Now I finally understand what everyone is talking about when they say Nokia better watch their backs. Comparing this phone to others is in my opinion like the comparison between the iPod and all other DAPs: it doesn't break new ground feature-wise, but it just screams "buy me!"
finally a sexy phone in america...
does it have the 320x240 screen or do will still have to live in the stone age
My titanium-encased powerbook had abyssmal wireless reception. I mean AWFUL. I hope there's an external antenna.
