PC Mag has a review of Panasonic's new point-and-shoot digital camera for the style kids, the four megapixel Lumix
DMC-FX5, which sports a 3x optical zoom lens made by Leica. The only problem is that it doesn't sound like it takes
such great photos.
The "new" Lumix DMC-FX5 is one of their 9 month old models. The actual new models (that were announced last week and debut next month) are the DMC-FX2 (4MP) and the DMC-FX7 (5MP).
Whoops.

I have the earlier version of this, the FX1 weghing in at a whopping 3.1mp. Image quality is acceptable for most prints and electronic viewing and the Leica optics are decidedly better than most typical PnS cameras in that field distortion is fairly minimal for it's design, yielding low pincusion/barrel effects at wide angles.
The biggest detractor for me is the size and button placement. I don't have big hands, but it's rather difficult to hold with comfort and accurately manipulate the zoom button.
