Don't think we've ever been as pissed about our cellphone as this guy was after Verizon refused to replace his
defective Kyocera 7135 (though we've been close). He decided to use it for target practice rather than pay the 350
bucks they wanted before sending him a new one.
Verizon (finally) released this model late last year. Decent specs, and besides the Treo, it's probably the easiest-to-use/most-logically-designed of any of the Palm Smart Phones. I think Kyocera went the phone-with-a-palm design philosophy (versus the palm-with-a-phone that most of the other manufacturers went with). Nice product, but a little on the large side.
Also goes to show you that spending the $3/mo for insurance kinda makes sense on something this expensive/complicated.
we dont have guns here in the UK, so when we go crazy with a hammer, or stab stuff with a screwdriver, we get accused of being influenced by Manhunt and the game gets pulled from the shelves!
Not including myself, I know four people with this very same model and service provider. We are ALL looking at replacing our "you-never-know-when-a-fatal-error-will-occur" 7135's. We just have to figure out what to replace them with. So many cool choices . . .
Ultimately we will fuse all of our phones into some modern art sculpture and send them back to Kyocera with a "R.I.P." tag attached :)
That guy will even be more pissed when he finds out that he could have called Kyocera and they would have send him a new phone. I have had 2 phones replaced by kyocera at no charge. For that I think Kyocera is one of the best companies. When my battery failed the first time rather than replacing the battery they replace the whole phone.
Oh well. Better patch up those bullet holes before sending it in to Kyocera...:)
Owned this phone for one year and it has become my brain. Currently on the second phone which I got from the insurance co. for 50 bucks. If you buy a $500 phone, buy the $7 a month insurance, regis!...
This phone seems to be the worst cell phone I have ever owned and I have owned cell phones since the late 80's. If any data is sync'd the phone will hard reset. I am on my second one from alltel and am very disappointed. Both phones have hard reset when data was present! Without any data it never hard resets. Kyocera must have released it before they "fixed" all the issues.

Hey, any of you people that don't like your 7135's, send 'em to me. I'll take them off your hands. I've had mine sine Verizon started offering them and I love it. Yes, you do get the occasional "Fatal Exception" but nowhere near as often as some people try to make me believe. As a cell phone, yes, it's a little big but I'd rather have this than one of those bricks you have to hold up to your head to make a call with. I don't get the people who complain that the 7135 is too big then rave over the Treo which is HUGE.
Like I said, you don't want them, I'll take em off your hands. I have kids in school that can make use of them.
Killer phone. I have had this phone since it came out. Best phone/pda out there. Does anyone know when/if kyocera is going to update this phone? I would take this update phone over a treo 650 or blackberry anyday. Any help with news on update of this phone would be great appreciated.
I'll never forget the time my 7135 decided to take a sh!+ (hard reset/data dump) as I was stepping onto an airplane to meet some friends in a strange city. I was on an earlier-than-scheduled flight and the last thing I told my friends was; "I'll call you when I get there." When I got there, I had no numbers and no way to contact anyone. I waited eight hours after arriving before someone from there called me say; "where are you?" You would expect that with a pda so susceptible to crashing and dumping, there would be an integrated back-up module or sych-able flash card. I have practiced restraint with this phone innumerable times. One of these days I will lose it and throw it hard against a brick wall (followed by an insurance claim, followed by an ebay sale - if it's actually worth anything anymore).
actually, you can buy any palm os backup SD card and stick it in the slot. then backup and/or restore the memory in a flash. (I too had a "plane" crash once and found the backup-cards at Franklin covey stores...)
Kyocera 7135 hard reset, soft reset,If you sync every day no problem. Big deal. If you need a Palm, a phone, a mp3 player, a picture viewer a word proc, and games and, and ,and. I am HAPPY with it! I think Kyocera missed the boat by not keeping it going!
Shoot any other phone with the size ammo this guy used and try to find the parts. If you want to get rid of your crashing 7135 (or your computer - has it ever locked up?) send it my way PLEASE!

That old dog deserved to be shot anyways, geez. How ancient is that thing?

Unfotunately guns are forbidden in E.U. therefore hammer was used as substitute of the gun...
Reminds me of what I did to my calculus book once I finished college. A few 12 gauge shotgun blasts, and a cloud of paper later, I was a happy man.

If we had guns it wouldnt happen.
