indeed, this is way too pricey. I just bought my BT-338 Bluetooth receiver with the latest SiRf Star III chipset (for $159.99 *including* shipping), and it works beautifully.
It tracks a total of 20 satellites and I was able to lock on 9 satellites even inside my apartment! On top of that, it has a battery life of 17 hours and weighs only 75 grams.
I recommend everyone to get a BT-338 :) It sells for about 150-180$ depending on the vendor (I got mine from http://www.abelida.com/gps.html) but if you are a gpsPassion member you may get it from semsons for cheaper. Or you can also try ebay
