Nintendo DS jumps on the WiFi VoIP bandwagon?
How shameful—most likely your Nintendo DS is going to pull double as a WiFi VoIP phone before your cellphone will. It's been reported that you'll be able to use the headset port on the DS along with its built-in WiFi to make VoIP calls, but it's not yet clear whether it'll be possible to use it with something like Skype or Vonage or whether it'll only work with some other proprietary (read: Nintendo-owned) service for chatting during online gaming. So many questions, so few answers…

You will never be able to get voip with your mobile phone because networks wouldn't want want the phone released.

I've gotta agree with koorb. Until the carriers get their way and get VoIP regulated like regular cell and land calls, there is no way VoIP phones are going to happen - there is just too much invested in the old-school networks.

AirTouch is providing WiFi VoIP service. I will be overjoyed if this gadget can work with our system. any guy want to try? I can send you a test account, just let me know the outcome.
Yes, the "old-school network" gang is going to somehow discourage WiFi devices in order to protect their golden goose.
