Watch this Wednesday: The BMW MP3 Watch
Last week on "Watch this Wednesday" we showed you the FitSense fitness watch. This week Engadget reader Juan sent us some pictures of his new BMW MP3 watch, a watch that plays music and more that's brought to you by the folks who unleashed the 7 Series on the world (oops, we promised we'd never speak of that, sorry).
What it is:While this watch lacks the looks of some of the cars BMW makes, it packs a lot of features. It plays music, has lots
of storage, and of course, tells time.
Why we like it: Records and plays up to 60 songs (or about 4 to 5 hours worth of music) on its 256MB
Flash storage. Charges and transfer data through the USB cable built in to the watch, also sports an integrated voice
recorder. You can also password protect it.
Where to get it and how much:
BMW-Online, $275.
Here are a couple pictures from Juan.

This watch is only a BMW-branded LAKS-watch, without branding quite cheap: https://www.laks.com/index.php?lang=en&laks_s=off&land=United%20States%20%20US%20-%20English&name=
Check out the original at http://www.laks.com which is not only slightly cheaper (256M for $240) but also available in a 512M version. Major drool!
wonder if they will announce a way to play the music through a BMW stereo? If not, I think I'll stick to my ipod and it's tight integration with the car.
The 512M watch is only a USB watch, no 512M MP3 watch -
What's wrong with the current BMW 7-series?
Except that you could never afford one doing this shit.
This BMW watch is a logo change from Lax from Xonix. Xonix is the original manufacturer. The best looking MP3 watch is from Ntren Technologies. Available on-line or at Neimans
Does the watch's digital voice recorder feature a time/date stamp at all? I tried out the Laks version, which did not have any kind of time/date stamp at all (not in file name, not in file info), and the recording quality while driving in my car was unacceptably bad.
well the orginal Xonix watch looks like a watch you get out of a cerial box, where as the BMW watch and the Lax version looks a bit more professional. BMW does have a 512meg version that does play MP3's as well, unlike what was stated before about the 256 being the only one that plays MP3's, although the 512 is on back-order, you can still get it after waiting about an extra week.
Worked great initially, then I started having problems 'seeing' it in explorer as another drive.
Currently, I cannot get anything off or on the watch. Anyone else run into this problem?
perfect watch!i dream about it...
The BMW sign is the most beautiful on it :)
Newer models will have a wireless earphone! BMW have to release the M2-Watch.
http://www.chinavasion.com will release one with wireless sound end of the month.
Lots of brands out there now compared to a few months ago. Thanks for the hookup on the Ntren watch. Also Laks, chinavision.com, BMW, and mercedes.

Recently, while the MP3 watches become more stylish, their price has dropped quite considerabily. Just take a look at http://www.innosumer.com/ or do your own search on eBay.com.
