Xbox 2 design pics leaked?

We're not sure if these are legit or not, but an anonymous tipster who claimed to be a part of a focus group for the
upcoming Xbox 2 sent us some questionable screengrabs of two of the "logos and console designs being considered for the
next generation Xbox system" (that quote according to the focus group material we saw). We'd send 'em back to the
drawing board if it we were in that focus group, but supposedly they've got more cooking—it'd be pretty foolish if they
didn't—so we'll see.
Doesn't that top logo look suspiciously like the Sony Walkman logo?

I know you will say, how can we trust you. But all I can say is I have worked on aspects of xbox 2.
These are very plastic and not close to the real design.
God I hate how everytime I read some comments there's some "insider" whose seen it, worked on it, or part of the team.

B. Why do you care and if so, why is there nothing OFFICIAL about your post?

neither look compelling but i think the new x box will be closer to the bottom one- an evolution of the current design.
I had no idea the new Xbox was going to double as a toasted sandwich maker. Mmmmm...Halo and ham & cheese sounds good.

Umm, that bottom one looks a LOT like the old 3DO from Panasonic... except silver and sporting what looks like a tumor on it's right side.

The top and to the left one looks a lot like the Indrema linux-based console that never materialized, it's probably a photoshop job.
Those of us who have seen it don't really much care if you believe us or not. But you're not even using common sense if you think these renders/logos are real.
The specs leaked a while back were real. These renders and logos are not. Believe me or not, it makes no difference.
As to why people would be "wasting time on a web site", as someone else mentioned, well, why are you here? I read this site for my own enjoyment and occasionally I comment on things. Just because you do certain things in life doesn't mean you're automatically excluded from doing other things in life.
Looking at the bottom picture, the only thing I can think about is a metallic 3DO with a huge handle on it.
The real XBox 2 is made of very red plasma goo, I own one and it lives in my brain like a symbiote. Sometimes it makes me giggle and stab babies. And it plays games on the new Kellogg's frosted mini wheat format discs, which hold 7,000 terrabites, and have super-unbreakable copy protection, unless you hold shift, and chew at the same time.
If this "anonymous tipster" was part of a focus group, then how'd he get his hands on nice pretty digital images of the unit and the logo?
Focus groups are intended to gauge opinions, not hand out CDs of image files. The most a focus group member might be able to do would be to smuggle a printout from the room.

i am looking forward to see how all the next gen consoles will look like. but everybody please pray that it doesn't look like any of those above. i think both designs look awful!

I think it could be a reference to the Windows F5 boot a.k.a. "Boot to Safe Mode automatically". :) Very appropriate for Micro$oft to use, hopefully it isn't a omen as to the amount of problems they'll have with it. :) I just hope it runs old games from the original Xbox.

You guys are great. Almost as funny as the people arguing over what the PS3 is gonna look like. Guys, the PS3 nor the XBOX2 will be out for years. Apparently there isnt memory fast enough to support the desired graphics for either companies next console concept. Although both Sony and Microsoft are battling for the new "home" system...it's just not there yet. So instead of wasting your time reading posts like these, thought they are entertaining, educate yourselves and read official releases that have been sent to press. Then come back with all your knowledge and inform the world. Knowlede is power and we all have the potential. May the force be with you my children.

Oh so funny. No-one has seen the design for the x-box 2 except a select group of people who work for the designing team for microsoft and I doubt it has been finalised yet anyway. By the time it is out the CPU and the VPU will be out of date so why don't you be sensible and buy yourself a PC which also does alot more than play games.

Ah yes, who needs the tedious ability to pop a game in and have it work without any adjustments or hardware upgrades? Or those lame ass Halo matches with 3 or more players in your living room. Let's all crowd around the computer to have some social game playing!
Considering the gap between computers and consoles has shrunk to an almost infinitely small gap, I'll game with a console over a pc any day. I'm fed up of buying new graphics cards and upgrading my cpu and ram just to play the newest and greatest. Consoles have an inherently more user friendly attitude from the get go. Pop a game in and play. No optimizing because the game is already optimized.

wouldn't it be cool if they just came out with a drive bay that had all the hardware in it to simply make computers internals able to make a console based system. it would be sweet in the sense that companies come out with games that don't need to be installed onto a HDD, then save games instantly to your home computers HDD. this would create that laziness effect that even i bought all the consoles for & there is the other reason of i don't feel like sitting in front of my computer all the time and just need a break sometimes... eh, i like different things in my lifestyle, yes i have the 9800 ATI video card with 256MB and i own most great PC games with plenty of PC time but anyways back to what i was blabing about... even beter... a portable disk drive/hardware system that connects to your PC through Firewire or USB2 making it
totally portable and LAN-able. Now this would be freaking awesome for MS or Sony due to the fact that they would'nt have to worry about cost of things like processor, memmory, video graphics and not to mention upgradability... i know its to easy and there would be no hipe for them to sell their gear... except GAMES. Total cost due to less parts needed would be cheaper which would mean more people could easily afford the system. i know to much babling... yay capitolism

i was just browsing to see if i could find any info on when the xbox2 was going to be revealed and its about jan 2005 time supposodly as ther wanting to release before the next gen consoles bt i hav no idea if thats true.
anyway that wasnt wat i was gonna post for, some of u people are real tw*ts. were nerds for wanting to no wat the xbox2 looks like? mates im sure u secretly do... who wants a dome shaped BROWN console sitting in ure white room under a silver plasma tv?? u can always tell how good a console will be from its design. okay xbox was big, but it wasnt ugly look at the clearless model. i think it looks class and i can tell thats a big console hosting big graphics and big gameplay which is true.
look at the ps2, especially the new slim version. the graphics are good and its slim to fit anywhere, also showing u can take it anywhere and its a mates machine... and oh yes thats another point i would like to bring up! whoever said consoles suck pc owns i agree to a degree. but can u play multiplayer with a few beers and some joey chairs on pro evo soccer 4 on a ps2? and can u play halo co-operative when ur drunk with a mate next 2 u split screen so u can try n launch a punch at him wen he gets u killed? and then theres xbox live, all u need is the starter pack and ur away, yes u can do this all with pc through internet games and to be honest i do prefer it as there is a mouse, but in all fairness if gates brought out an xbox mouse id be there straight away over pc, no need to update a xbox is there? where as a pc needs 300 quid of updates mayb more.
so yeh, i cant wait for the pix of xbox, nintys new console and even sonys.

I think these are all fakes and I'd have to say unless its leaked from the design team itself its gonna remain fake until press release. I can't wait for it to come out, I do like the first pic and logo though, its neat.

gpu:500+ mhz graphics proccesor from ati...
ther xbox 2 graphics architecture is a unique desigh that implements a superset of direct3d versoin 9.0...
xbox 2 has 256+ mb of unifed memory,eqully accessible to both the GPU and CPU...
the xbox 2 sound will be alot better from the 1st xbox,the xbox 2 looks into better 3d quility...
apperently there are gona b 3 verions of the xbox 2, the 1st will b a standerd xbox2,the second will b an xbox 2 but wit a built in hard drive, and third will b a tv wit a built in xbox 2 its surposed to be called xbox t.v but i duno................

Maybe people who go to the focus groups are bound by heavy NDAs but regardless such people could concievably turn out reasonable reconstructions of some of the concepts they were shown at the focus groups. And unfortunately or fortunately the looks of the box are incredibly important to its sucess.
