Obviously this knucklehead has not actually engineered or worked with many automation systems. Listening to him is to also believe that a Yugo and a Mercedes both are equal vehicles since they both are supposed to get you from point A to B. The only difference is that one costs alot more. Give me a break.
There were alot of venders at CEDIA offering "systems" and products. I plan to even use some of these other products with our Creston processors in future projects. The 2 best Control Systems overall are still Crestron and AMX. There will always be "wanna be's" in this industry like every other. I saw a little vendor in the "nose bleed" section who's product line looked like a direct copy of the Crestron hardware and I'm sure had pretty similar capabilities. Question is though, what will it take support wise to obtain the same functionality and longivity found in the more expensive products.
Ultimately, there is a market for everyone. Those with larger homes and estates will always use Crestron type systems because they can afford the best and don't want problems. Those who need a "refi" to do it and really don't need or maybe can't really afford it, will go with the lesser expensive and proven systems bottom line.
I've seen PC based companies come and go. Seen their programmers pull their hair out trying to talk to a variety of hardware. I've also seen many say that they were dumbasses for doing it the hard way for so long and wished they had used Crestron a long time ago. I was an IT Admin before focusing strictly on Control Systems Integration and I can tell you that I wouldn't base my home or business on a PC, especially if it's running Windows instead of Linux. Can you imagine having to reboot your house all of the time. HAHA

"I'm moving to a small studio and for some reason the cable connection is in an awkward place and I need a way to transmit HD quality video and audio no more than 20 feet away. What is the best wireless HDMI transmitter / receiver for this situation? Thanks!"
