History of the Transformers
The last we checked Optimus Prime had some Dinobots and they totally took him down but didn't finish him off like Megatron told them too. Since then we haven't kept up with the Transformer universe, but luckily someone has put together a 68 page history. Jeez, there really is more than than meets the eye.

Just so you know, that page is 50% crap. I didn't even bother to read the whole thing, it's so much crap. That guy has taken official Transformers canon, from differing TF universes (yes, some stories don't take place in the same universe), and tried to combine them all into the same universe with the same history. Aside from that, he tosses in tens of pages of stuff that is purely from his own imagination. And quite a lot of it, imho, is ridiculous, even from an "I like giant sentient robots" point of view as mine. Please do NOT take that page as a definitive Transformers History reference, because all that's going to do is confuse a lot of fans and non-fans who want to know what they missed.
I'd love to point you guys to a good summation of TF canonical history, but the problem is that even the canon is not canon. Inconsistencies abound in the TF universe. Each new TF related story has just as much likelihood of fitting in with a previous one as not fitting in at all. Sometimes stories toss in bits of "history" from other stories, which kind of ties them together, but even then it's tenuous. The only way to make it all come together is to completely re-write it from the start, which is what that guy did. What you see on that site is revisionist history fan-fiction. Don't bring it up with a fan and expect him/her to have any idea what you're talking about when you make references to the crap, err... stuff in that "history". Sorry.

Here's a link for you. It's an encyclopedia style site, but has accurate information, and links to other accurate resources:

Thanks for the glowing review, Greg. Actually, that's my bit of writing that you've described as "rubbish". Nowhere did I claim it to be the definitive history or even canonical. It's just a bit of fun I had merging various continuities together into one working history. That's why it's called "Tranformers: A History", meaning just one of many possiblities, rather than "Transformers: THE History". I'm not surprised that you'd be so vehemently against it. That fits most of the Newsgroup crowd's mentality. Maybe I should just stick to making spinning sigils or somthing daring like that. ;)

BTW, the latest update to that history can be viewed by clicking my name.
Thanks to everyone who enjoyed reading it. That's what it's there for - enjoyment. Sometimes I think that idea is lost on the anal-retentive internet fandoms.
