Scoop: The Treo 650 doesn't mean the Treo 600 will die
We just got some nice scoopage from a reliable source that the release of the new Treo 650 won't spell the end of the Treo 600—palmOne is going to keep making both, they're just going to drop the price from the $549 or so that the Treo 600 retails for now without a wireless contract. Not sure how much it'lll end up going for, but the news does jibe with what we'd heard already about palmOne planning for there to be a family of Treo smartphones with different price points and capabilities. Now if they'd only make our geeky dreams come true and make a Treo 700 with built-in WiFi…

Isn't that supposed to happen soon?
What I want in a Treo is a hard drive: make a version with a mini-HD like in the iPod mini, and have the Treo treat it like a built-in flash card. Then have a music player built in that would lock the hard keys to music play functions, and we would have an even better multi-function device.
Which among others has a 5GB hard drive... for all my movies, music, games and more...

The going rate for a new Treo 600 without any contract commitment is about $400 on eBay. I just got one new in box works fine with my existing T-Mobile SIM, upgraded from a Treo 270. It will be interesting to see how much the street price drops when the 650 comes out, but the idea of paying PalmOne $549 was a non-starter, and T-mobile wanted to lock me in and charge me $450 for an upgrade!
Orange will let you have a treo 600 for £50 plus a £15 per month 1 year contract (for which you can have 180 minutes per month and 30 texts) which totals £230 for the year - approx. $400. Think I might just snap one up...
