Howard Stern through dodging FCC's bullets, moves to Sirius in 2006
We're not sure what kind of coaxing Sirius had to do in order to get him (and we're not so sure we want to know, either), but unlike the rest of America (for now anyway), Howard Stern is taking the plunge head first into satellite radio starting January 1st, 2006. Perhaps it's because of the lack of decency regulations, or perhaps it was a beefy multi-million dollar contract, but any way it went down, it means that if you want to hear his radio show you're going to have to sign up for Sirius service, which is a seriously big deal not only for Sirius, but for the radio industry. Perhaps he'll change his monicker from The King of All Media to The King of Some Yet Un-established Private Media? But perhaps what's most shocking here are the XM ads that are still running on his personal web site. Go figure.

Howard will own Sirius by January 1, 2008
I was just waiting for him to announce which way he was going. Sorry XM, Jane's getting Sirius.
He also stated on this morning's broadcast that he has been given three channels to prorgram for the service and will be "out promoting, plugging and selling sirius across the country".
I guess howardstern.com has just been updated. There is now a big Sirius advert there...
exactly brian, it was obvious he was going to go to satellite eventually, and i found out that ClearChannel has its claws in XM, so Sirius it is. I know that I will most certainly buy a Sirius receiver for car and probably home sometime between now and Jan 1, 2006.
Just a bit o green...

The one I wanted is already sold out. Bummer.
I've got Sirius installed in my G35 and love it.
One thing I used to hate about it was the extra antenna that you need to get to make it work. I got it installed inside the car on the back shelf and it works great, no dropouts at all (plus no obvious ugly antenna).
I'm not a huge Stearn fan, but I think that anything that draws extra listeners to this new format is a good thing. Commercial radio (especially Clear Channel) has blown for years.
As of Monday 10/04 Opie and Anthony (http://www.opieandanthony.com) started on XM. They were more popular that Howard Stern when they were on the terrestrial radio in NYC, before they were taken off the air for getting in trouble. And now that they are on satellite, Howard has to copy them, again.
Opie and Anthony on XM for a price. Yes that a $1.99 extra per month. I'm an XM user that is thinking about switching. XM has dropped the ball on its programing. Sirius now has NFL and now Howard Stern. What does XM have? Handball championship!!
did you people forget that the new ACURA RL will have traffic monitoring system using the XM..... humm listening to howardstern or avoiding traffic... that's a no brainer!! GO RL!! :-P
I've been a big fan of satellite radio for a while now. I had a Clarion deck in my truck with Sirius, and an XM unit for home/office. I never heard of O&A until some XM ad's played a while back, and decided to sign up for the free 1month October trial. 1 week in, I dumped my Clarion deck for a Pioneer with XM technology and picked up the XM car tuner instead. After being a Howard fan for over 8years, I can honestly say I'm hooked on O&A and haven't looked back.
stern has been on the radio for 20 years, give it up already. O&A were on the satellite radio before mr. big nose, and their team is a lot more creative than the clowns that surround howard. sirius as a company is such a bad investment. putting all your eggs in one basket never works; bankruptcy protection in 2007!

I heard that the little doggie company that Howard is going to work for will next year be providing thier customers with with a new feature. Its a hand truck so they can move that CB radio looking thing around. XM is the wave of the future and O&A is spreading like a virus over there. Howard will once again have to start at the bottom, but hey, if can make it to the top in this new format he has the perfect reason for comming out with a new movie. "Body Parts Two. Me and My Doggie"
I am wondering which Satellite company XM or Sirius will get involved with Extreme sports...like Surfing, Skateboarding, and New York City Handball.
I did notice on http://www.handballcity.com links to Sirius??
howard is a old fraud. he has lost the passion and the edge. the little doggy company is making a big mistake hiring him. Take my advice people Opie and Anthony is the best talk show out there. They are honest and funny and they talk about what you want to hear about. Opie and Anthony on XM channal 202 (and is free)!
You morons, Howard's act is the original and O&A copied him. If you believe otherwise, you're listening to the wrong explanation. Stop thinking that they are right in saying that Howard copied off of them. It's just not true. Howard's beat them in EVERY market they are on. And he will beat them in the satellite market as well.
