The jet-powered supermarket cart
Never though there'd be someone who made the guy who built that jet-powered wheelchair seem completely sane, but there you go. The insane thing is that the wheelchair actually goes faster than this supermarket cart, er, trolley that some soon-to-be-deceased Englishman strapped a jet engine to.

There is nothing dangerous about this. At least they have replaced the any-which-way-but-straight-forwards supermarket trolley wheels.

While the Rocket on the back may seem impressively stupid, the true brilliance of the situation it that it appears he has strapped the fuel tank to the FRONT of the rocket powered 'vehicle'.
Just wait until that one of the wheels goes wobbley. Good thing he has at least the presence of 'mind' to replace the European all-wheel swivels with slightly sturdier fixed parts. (As opposed to the locked rear-wheel, front-swivel US carts. Both have their merits... discuss.)

Follow the link to the Online Sun report. More views and pixs. Some fast facts. This guy spent about 90 dollars to upgrade the wheels and steering. Brakes, he don't need no stinking brakes. Says it gets unstable over 50MPH or however this crazy brit calculates speed. guess he needs the cart to carry his cojonies.

Two vs Four Wheel Swivelling. Ok, 4WS is slightly more manoeverable, but 2WS is far superior for cornering ease. You just have to apply rotation force to the cart (UK: trolley) and the rear wheels' lateral stability deals with most of the cornering forces. Especially useful with a heavy load. 4WS requires full force input from the driver - either high twisting force, or hovercraft style rotate-then-thrust.
2WS is the way to go. There had to be something that was done right in the USA ;-). Just watch for rollover accidents.

That thing looks like a blast! Hopefully not literally a BLAST, but damn, it does look fun. First modification would have to be a roll cage though...

"Heavy load" seems to be the key phrase in the differences of culture. 2ws is good in America when you buy a weeks load in one trip. But someone correct me if I'm wrong: In Europe, they focus more on fresh food, shopping for groceries more frequently and thus with smaller loads. I personally love the maneuverability of 4ws great.

Blue flames. Where are the BLUE flames? These indicate true speed, not the orange glow of failure which indicates speed below 90 MPH. I like the fuel tank supporting the nut-sac idea:Live fast, die faster!
